I am in a quandary. I'm arriving Christmas Day at 6pm to MCO, riding ME to SSR, and have a 9pm ADR for Christmas dinner at California Grille. I know I'm really cutting it close, esp. if there's any delays at any stage of the transportation end of it, not to mention checking in! And darn it if Mickey and Minnie aren't doing a meet and greet at SSR lobby between 7 and 9 that night!
So, my question is, which would be quicker...to walk to DTD and hop a bus to CR? Or to hop a SSR bus to MK and take the monorail to CR? I think that whatever minutes I can shave here will help (I may be kidding myself ;) ).

I probably should post this on the Transportation thread, too, but I figure DVC owners at SSR would have more experience getting around from there.

You have a third and fourth option as well:

(3) Take a bus from SSR to MK and walk to CR. The walk doesn't take more than 5 minutes or so.

(4) Take a cab from SSR to CR. This is probably the fastest but, of course, costs money.

Good luck!

I didn't even think of that...and I've actually done that walk before! Thanks, CD!
(The cab probably wouldn't work, since there's 5 of us (3 of size.).

Now that begs the question, which would be faster...to walk to DTD and get a bus to CR? Or to take a bus from SSR, and walk from MK? This is presuming, of course, that I get my 1st choice of rooms at SSR, in Congress Park. I guess the real question is, are the buses from SSR or DTD more reliable?

tell the front desk your problem.

sometimes (not by any means all the time) - there is a van/shuttle - the restuarant and gift shops at the hotels pay for it.

if it is availability go with it.

if not taxis comes in different sizes you will need a van taxis - which they have in Orlando.

also there is another choice - since your luggage won't be with you. how about taking the ME to the Cont....

of course then you will arrive to early.

A van taxi would be my first choice (and something to keep in mind if things get REALLY tight time-wise), but if you're going to try the bus route, I imagine you might catch a bus from SSR to MK faster than you'd catch a bus from DTD to CR. But who knows since it will be later in the evening.

Good luck, and enjoy that dinner!

Option 5) Rent a car. I find it very convenient to have one anywy... and it is always my first choice.

Thanks, Jim, but I'm not going to rent a car. I don't like to drive WDW, I get too stressed, since I don't know exactly where I'm going. Besides, Christmas week is likely to be a traffic nightmare!

I like the idea of a van taxi...that seems do-able, if they're running on Christmas Day. Or available. Otherwise, it's Disney transportation. Ok, I'll probably try the SSR/MK thing, if my timing is running smoothly. Otherwise, a van/taxi it is.
