Sorry, gotta defend Rush. Maybe I need to hear the exact quote. But from what I heard, he might be wrong, he might be stupid, or he might not, he might even be racist, but the statement wasn't racist. Just possibly wrong, but still his oppinion. But he definitely picked the wrong city to say it to.

I don't think what Rush said was racist at all. It was completely wrong in all aspects and very ignorant for an analyst, but not racist.

Unfortunately, I've seen how good Donavan McNabb is, when he dismantled my Bears defense 2 years ago in the playoffs.

In his position he should have known better, has to know better than to make a comment like that. It's no PC. You could make a reverse commit about someone being white, but not this. Too easy to take a comment like that and blow it out of proportion. Wonder if he's like me and as soon as he said it he knew he shouldn't have? I like Rush, but he does have a big mouth, and this time he opened it big enough to put his whole foot in it.

I hope the rumor I heard late yesterday about his drug problem isn't true. You would think people could recognize when they have it all going for them and not blow it!

For instance...I have heard plenty of announcers say stuff like, the Bulls would never have won without MJ.....is that wrong?....I have heard them say Kobe would never win without Shaq...is that wrong?

soooo suprised. guess the guys who hired him had never
listened to him. Even my 94 year old, racist aunt knows a
hate hawking bigot when she hears one. You don't think his
statement was racist? Heck, it was all about race. After all,
he didn't just say Mc Nabb was overrated and leave it at that,

I've read and heard Rush's comment from Sunday several times. The only thing wrong he did was make an un-PC comment in a PC-dominated forum.

The way I read Rush's comment, he's making a criticism on the media as much as on McNabb. He's saying that certain elements of the media play up McNabb as being better than he actually is. He didn't say McNabb isn't talented or deserving to be in the NFL, just that he's not at the level that some put him to be. I'm not a huge football fan, so I'm not one to say how talented McNabb is.

Rush is a commentator, and he's paid to give his opinion. He did so, and lost his ESPN job because of it.

Still, Rush may end up making the wrong group angry. If the Oxycontin allegations turn out to be true, I bet a large number of his fans will turn on him.
