Rush hour Route?

Hi! We will be driving from POR to USO twice during our stay. Also will be driving from POR to MCO (at about 8:30 a.m.) Two questions:

1) Is it still quicker to take I-4 to Universal, than Apopka-Vineland/Sand Lake Road, etc, in the morning?

2) Best route to the airport at 8:30 a.m.?

Actually, three questions - When is morning rush hour in Orlando?

Thanks for the help!!

Not sure on #1, but regarding #2, the quickest way to the airport is 417. From POR, make a left out of the resort, then right on Buena Vista, then take the ramp on the right to 536. Keep going straight, it will go turn into 417. Take the Bogey Creek exit from 417 to the airport. Two $1 tolls.

Regarding rush hour time, I drove from CBR to downtown Orlando last year for business. I left about 8:30am and there wasn't any backup from WDW to Universal on I-4. I didn't hit a backup until close to downtown (I got off at Ivanhoe).

I agree with taking 417 to the airport. There is never any traffic on that road.

What change do I need to bring for tolls? Just quarters? (They don't do anything dumb like ask for $1.35 on any of the tolls do they?)
