I don't like running. I just plain don't. However, last night, at softball...
Me, Mr and Mrs. H., Ashely H., and her little brother Blake, were playing around after softball practice. Ashley was hitting, Mr. H. was pitching, and me, Blake, and Mrs. H. were in the outfield fielding. So when Ashley is done, I hit. Then, after we picked up all the balls, Mr. H. told us to run the bases and he would time us using his phone. So Blake goes first, I think he got 15.2 seconds, he's in 1st grade. Ashley goes next, she's my age, and gets 15.6. I go last and get 15.8. Now I have some social anxiety, so on the way home, I'm in a bit of a bad mood because I ran the slowest. Dad said it was the fastest he's ever seen me run, and I said thanks, but I don't think that's good.
The top runners on our team is Kaylei and Kyrin (she's so fast we nicknamed her Hot Wheels), and they can run the bases (240 feet) in 12-13 seconds. I'm about second/third slowest runner, and I want to change that. I've gotten thrown out at first when I hit a LOT by just a little bit; has I run faster I'd have been safe. And one of my biggest pet peeves is getting thrown out; I go through all the trouble of finally hitting the ball then I get out.
So, I want to run faster. I'm not the skinniest girl around, so I'm worried that could be one of my problems. But does anyone else have good tips? Anyone on track who could help? I need it. Like, a lot -_-
