Running trails through DTD resorts?

Hi all,

I am staying at POFQ the first week of December, and am hoping to get a few decent maintenance runs in while I am there (3-5m runs). I know POR.POFQ have a 1.7m loop (well, a 1m and a .7m loop that can be combined), but I was hoping there might be ways to extend my loops, perhaps with connections to/from DTD or perhaps other resorts nearby? I really hate "running in circles" so I am hoping there is a safe way to extend some loops.

I saw a post a while back about a trail at OKW connecting directly with DTD, and I was hoping it would be possible to tack POFQ onto that as well. :)

I have to say, I ran the long loop during out last stay at POR ... and I generally run 6-7.5 Miles 10-12 KM per day. I HATE a track, I hate running in circles, it wears on my inside rotating hip and knee, its boring, its absolutely terrible. However .... I loved my runs at POR. I hope you will give the loop a chance, its actually pretty awesome, doesn't really feel like you are running a loop. Things change, you see different people, and the grounds are beautiful.

Thanks for the feedback. If all else fails, I figure I can run the loop 2-3x to get my mileage in, and while it wouldn't be my first choice to run repeated loops, at least it is at Disney World. :)

Unfortunately there are no sidewalks or trails connecting POR and OKW. If you wanted to do some traveling you could take the bus to closest park or DTD then take the OKW bus. Or go to DTD and then to SSR. You can walk to SSR from DTD, unless walkway is closed for construction. Fort Wilderness is another resort people like to run in. Boat from MK.

As a WISH disboard-er, this gets asked a lot. So cewait posted some routes on MapMyRun, including the following one from POR to DTD.

The key hookup is to take the employee road off Orleans Dr,which will cross Vacation Way and take you into OKW onto Miller RD. You then runthrough OKW and pickup the path to DTD.

If you want to see some of the other runs he's posted, the easiest thing to do is do a Google site:mapmyrun.com search for cewait.

You cannot run from POFQ to SSR or OKW without going through backstage areas (including construction areas) or the golf course. You are limited to either POR/POFQ or OKW/SSR. This route you show goes through construction and backstage areas which is not permitted. Guests are not permitted in the employee areas.

Thanks, everyone. We're actually going to have a car while we're down there, so traveling between resorts would be no problem. It's really too bad there aren't more paved walking/jogging trails between resorts, as I think that guests would definitely utilize them.

Also, thanks for the MapMyRun link - even though that run may be off-limits, I'll peruse some of his other posts!
