Running Skirts for "Big" Girls

I have been tasked with finding running skirts for my training group. The "issue" is that we have 2 bigger girls that will also want skirts- they are a 2X or size 20. Anyone know where I can find black running skirts, with compression shorts under, that come in both traditional sizes and bigger sizes?

Not certain, but I think I've heard junonia dot com carries something. I guess I should check before answering, but I am not in a good spot to check just now.

have you checked sparkle skirts? I know that they do bigger sizes (up to 3X, I believe) and do have some solids...not sure if black comes in solid. I have a black sparkle one (SparkleTech...they have the shorts built in). So comfy!

Thanks, I'll check them out. I need plain black because we'll have our logo embroidered on them once we get them ordered and in.

FYI, Leah at sparkle skirts can put your logo in glitter on the plain black skirt if you want! If you look at the website, I think she has a pic of the TnT ones she has done! I think the sparkletech skirt looks fantastic on gals of ALL sizes, too!

I looked around for the Princess because I am a size 16 runner who is also pregnant- and love the skirts. :)

I found a couple that worked ok, but only because they were the capri versions. Finding anything long and big enough was tough- the shorts really do ride up under the skirts. But with the capris, I was able to make it work.

I also had my mom alter one of them- she added a belly panel to the top of one and also made the skirts larger by inserting a couple of 2 in panels on the side seams. That might work if you can't find something big enough for the larger ladies. I looked high and low on the internet and wasn't having a lot of luck.

Best I came up with were XXL capri/skirt combos that still needed a little extra added in one of the skirts (the other was cut full enough that it didn't need additions)

I think the http://www.runningskirts.com/ are cut smaller- this is the one that had to be altered.

http://skirtsports.com seem to be a bit more generous.

So glad I found this thread...I may have to go ahead and place a couple of orders.
Who says big girls don't want to be cute when they run!?!?!:cool1:

You might want to try skirt sports. It looks like they only come in XL, but they are cut very large and most folks need to size down from the usual size anyways. Could be worth a shot!

Skirt sports has one or two skirts in XXL-- which as a size 16-18, I find to fit, but if I have anything in the pockets, it starts to fall off. The XL works, but the skirt is a little tighter around my butt. I like the looser skirt, so I put up with it.

The coverage ranges from runderwear to compression shorts (which have a neat pocket that fits my iPhone) to capris. I LOVE this company. They've got great customer service and are pretty flexible-- if you don't know your size and want to try them on, they're really good about sending over ones for you to try if there's not a store that sells their stuff local to you.

Also, I still have EVERY skirt I've ever bought from 2006 on-- I only run races in their skirts-- all in great condition, and they've been put through the exercise ringer.
