Running on Fumes from Start to Finish

Once breakfast was done it was time to meet Josh and Kira to make use of our fp+ reservation for the safari.

My photos are never great, but I will share them any way... A couple of these really could have been got shots had I only had a better camera

However, lets get some of the pictures Josh took in here to make up for my bad photography. ;)

One thing that was great about this safari was that the young elephants were out playing. They played tug of war... it was so cute!!!

Once we were back from our safari it was time to allow Zoe to start her quest to become a wilderness explorer. Kira, who is in school to become a teacher, was happy to help her learn. Kira was very pleased with the educational aspect of this and felt it was well done.

Love ALL the safari pictures!

That female lion looks a little perturbed. Was she actually making noise? She looks like is growing. Very cool!

I just love Zoe in those ears. So cute!

I think she was doing that smelling thing that they do through their mouth. She was standing on the rock for a while trying to really take in some scent.

Thank you! I think Zoe is cute in the years too : goodvibes:

Don't sell yourself short...those are great pictures...especially since you got some of the zebras. I hate it they couldn't get along with the other animals and had to be pulled off the savanna.

Looking forward to more!

That is kind of you. I know I could do better... I just also accept there is only so much that can be done with an iphone (or a little point and shoot). ;)

Glad you found your way here! :welcome: Injuries can sure be a bummer :sad2: I love disney races!! I personally have kinda unofficially decided that at least for now, Disney halfs will be the only ones I do. Have you done a disney race? I am totally hooked. So much fun! So well organized! Sure there are snags here and there, but I love that each person can set out with a different goal in mind and tackle the race in their own unique way. :goodvibes

Have not done a Disney race, but that sounds like too much fun. Just running through the parks sounds like a dream.

Working my way back, did a long run yesterday, still calming heel down.

Great report!!! Can't wait to catch up on it!

LOVE the safari! Looks like a lot of animals were out for you. LOVE LOVE that shot he got of Zoe and her ears. :lovestruc

It really is cool to run through the parks. The only one I have not ran through on the east coast is AK. This summer I believe I will get to run through both on the west coast.

Yay for the long run. :thumbsup2 but boo on the heel. Do you have PF? OUCH.

thanks! Hopefully the neglect I have given this report will give you time to catch up. :goodvibes

It was a great safari. Not only were the animals out, but they were active.

I think Josh got some really great shots. I need to just remember to include some of his photos along the way.(I have to snag them from fb in order to do it...so it isn't as easy as just opening up photobucket)

Yup, PF. 2 years ago it was real bad, both feet. Chiro worked it out great. This fall it came back only in one foot. Insurance wanted me to go to pediatrist instead. MUCH longer process. At same time, patella tendonitis in one knee. Learning to manage. Everything pretty much a big pre/post stretch and building up. Take it you've had a go with it too? Lookin' cool walking around the house in birks?

Funny, so I started a different workout program in the PF/PT recovery stage to build up more muscle to prevent further injury. Tweeked my elbow, then really aggravated it at Disney (note bats on the Haunted Mansion on top of guard rails right before you go on ride, I slammed it into those bad boys). And have had to stop that for 2.5 months, so just doing biking and running. I'm about to give up and just lie on the couch with tacos full time.

Then it was time to head out for Zoe's race. To me this was in a weird location. Unlike the other two kids races Zoe had done where you could see the area from where you arrived... this was tucked back where you really had to know you were headed there.

Oh my god, this kid is ADORABLE! I had no idea that they have kid races, what a great way to get kids exercising while at Disney!

Does it get any cuter than baby elephants playing?!?! Love that!

How was the Wilderness explorer program? Is it really geared towards kids, or would "kids at heart" enjoy it too? (aka Emily and myself, lol)

No, I don't. My sil does. I have read about how painful it is. I feel for anyone with pain. I battle minor stuff... bunion.. turf toe.. peroneal tendonitis. Nothing that I can't easily work through. Night time and mornings when I step out of bed are the worst. PF seems to be something that can cause people to not be able to run.

:rotfl: While laying on the couch full time with tacos might sound appealing.. probably would end up causing other issues ;)

Thank you. :goodvibes I always think Zoe is darn cute. As for kids races... ::yes:: they even have a diaper dash! VERY cute!!!

It doesn't. They were so cute playing tug of war. LOVED it!

:scratchin Ya know... I think probably even with a drink in hand it wouldn't be too fun. I know that the Kim Possible or Perry game in Epcot - intended for young people - could still be fun for grown people. (especially with a drink in hand ;)) This though... really is a learning adventure and in order to get the badge often you have to answer questions. I have yet to get to the end of it... but there is a graduation ceremony too. It just doesn't seem that it would work for adults. Sorry.

Really enjoying this trip report! :thumbsup2

Awe... that is sweet off you! Glad to hear you are enjoying it. :goodvibes

Well, I think the better ones are from Josh... and those ears.... I think on each TR I have done people always compliment those ears on her. (we bring the same ears year after year. I think those were purchased in 2008 )

OMG it's Neil :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: My mother and him were nearly coming to blows it was HI-larious! Clickie for story

Sounds like I lucked out to get such a great server. Maybe I have had him before... seems like a couple years ago I had one who was really into shenanigans. Brought our drinks in empty paper cups and proceeded to act as though he spilled them. Poor Steve about had a seizure trying to catch the cups.

That's what he did to momma... she nearly killed him at that point so he went off and hid until we left :rotfl:
I thought he was funny though and he did make up for it by making sure we saw the head mouse as well :)

Ya know that was years ago. So he has been there a while? Or do they maybe pass along their jokes? :scratchin I am never good remembering names of servers... but I really almost am sure that it had to be him playing the cup joke on us on our very first WDW trip.

I've been behind on reading, but I'm all caught up now.

Great job on your race and a wonderful time!!

I love that you've got a shot from EE with some of the marathon runners on it. It's my goal one day to try and do that if I have the nerve to stop at that point of the race.

Thank you. You ran the full, right? I really apologize. I need to get over and read your report!

I think that is a great goal!!! In someways I would love to do that. However really... there are several reasons why I don't have it as a goal for myself. One.. have to do the full in order to get that in (never done a full and think it might kill me). Two... have to stop (stopping on the course is a challenge for me) Three... riding EE itself (while I can ride it... ride it in the middle of running might cause me to go into cardiac arrest. :rotfl2:)

Even though it might not be for me... I gladly cheer anyone on who wants to do it. :cheer2::cheer2:
