Everytime I run I get a pain in my right shoulder / neck near my collar bone.

I was going to hold off on running until I saw a doctor since my my had heart issues.... but I was looking online and it seems like something that happens to alot of people.
Any ideas?

When this happens to me it is usually because I have tensed my shoulders. Keep your neck and shoulders loose and if you have to shake them out on your run. Also, make sure you aren't running with clenched fists. I keep them loose with only my pointer finger and thumb touching.

Thanks! I'll give it a try.
The other thing I've read is that it could be becase I'm not breathing right.
I think I have figured out that it's not my heart. :thumbsup2 But I'll still ask my doctor on Saturday.

I am not sure how the breathing could effect shoulders and neck but it could be. It isn't uncommon for runners to lose concentration on things like posture and breathing. I always find myself correcting mine during a run.

Just remember to take deep breaths with your diaphragm so you fill all of your lungs and exhale completely instead of just taking short breaths using only your upper chest.
