Running... From Coast to Coast and Back Again - Tink 1/2 TR, Princess TR

Hey DISers! Sorry I've been MIA for so long. It's been a crazy summer. I can't believe it's been 3 months since we got married. In addition to the wedding, I also took three classes. I thought the summer would drag on but it actually flew by. When we spent our 1 day at MK on our honeymoon I left feeling sad that it'd be 3 1/3 months before I returned. Well it ended up only being 2 1/2 months (more on that in a minute) and now it's almost here. So, what's been going on...

Due to changes in my school schedule and grief from a new manager at work, I had to quit my job. I ended up with two new jobs. I now coach gymnastics and "nanny" in the mornings. However, when I started classes this week they informed us that they'll be placing us in the schools two days a week so I may have to quit one of them which is disappointing.

We went on our honeymoon to St Maarten last week and had a fabulous time! Now, school started and I'm already stressed again!

Now, the biggest thing. Since we were in St Maarten last week, we weren't planning on running the Disneyland Half Marathon this weekend so we didn't sign up. However, my brother did. He signed up with one of his friends and has been training hard. Then, his friend got a new job. She is now the personal assistant for Jennifer Lawrence (who plays Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games). Since she'll be off filming with her, my brother was left running by himself which he really didn't want to do. So, about a month ago, DH and I bought some flights (which we found for surprisingly cheap) and we're set to go to CA so I could run my brother's first half marathon with him! Here's the plan:

Sept 1: Depart Cleveland at 9:45am, short layover in Las Vegas, Arrive in LA at 1:25pm.

My brother will pick us up at the airport, we'll drive to Anaheim and visit the Expo. Then we'll head in to California Adventure to check out the new Cars Land and Buena Vista street. We have a dinner reservation at Wine Country Trattoria which includes reserved seating for World of Color. Then it'll be off to bed for an early morning.

Sept 2: Race Day! After race time, we'll head back into California Adventure for a little bit to hit up whatever we missed in Cars Land the day before. Then, we'll head out to my brother's apartment. That night we're planning to go to this thing called Show at Barre.

Sept 3: Not sure what we're doing in the morning but we'll need to be at the airport around 1:45 for our 3:45pm flight home. The next day it'll be back to reality but at least we'll have a brief weekend break!

Hi there  I can't see your wedding pics from work so I'm definately coming back, but wanted to throw out a quick hello, say congratulations and wish you a wonderful jaunt to Disneyland!!

Please take lots of pictures of Cars Land :hyper:

Hey! I hope life with an MRS is treating you well! I thought of you this weekend because I know you wanted to be a legacy runner for the tinker bell marathon so I hope you were there!

Hi! Sorry I've been so MIA on the boards lately! Married life is going great! Things have been super busy lately. I'm currently completing my Practicum for graduate school, working two jobs, and still taking classes. I actually just graduated with my Masters on January 15th but am still in class and doing my Practicum as part of my licensing.

Anyway, I was indeed in California last weekend and ran the Tinkerbell Half Marathon! I do hope to make it to the point where they start acknowledging that people are legacy runners (I think year 5)! My brother ran with me this year and it was a blast! Tinkerbell is by far my favorite Disney race!

Hi All! I know I've been MIA for a LONG time. But, things are finally starting to slow down so I figured I may as well try and get caught up. I can't do a recap of all my trips for the past year so we'll just do a quick overview.

Alright, the last race I covered was the 2012 Disney World Half Marathon.

After that, I ran the inaugural Neverland 5k and Tinkerbell Half Marathon:

Then I ran the 2012 Royal Family 5k and the Princess Half Marathon for the first time with my cousin:

In April 2012, DH and I ran the Tough Mudder:

In May 2012, I ran the Cleveland half marathon with my cousin and friend Lauren:

In September 2012, my brother was registered to run the Disneyland Half as his first race. When his friend that he was suppose to run with couldn't go, I jumped in and took her place:

At the end of September 2012, DH and I went to WDW with a group of friends to run the inaugural Tower of Terror 10 miler (I hate to say it but it was miserable... it was SO hot and the course was rather boring and the after party was super crowded):

A few weeks ago, I ran the 2013 2nd annual Tinkerbell Half Marathon with my brother (This is my favorite Disney race and I hope to be a legacy runner):

I just love all of your costumes! I bet when you first stared this thread it seemed like such a simple thing- running from coast to coast! But you ... keep .. doing ... Disney... races! Whew! I get tired just thinking about it. I understand that the backlog of races you have dome would make recaps pretty much impossible, but I would LOVE to hear about your Tinkerbell marathon experiences. It seems like you have done pretty much every single Disney half (except for the F&W- what gives?!) and I would love to know what makes Tink so exceptional?
Good luck at the Princess Half this weekend! At least let us poor saps see pictures even if you can't do a race report!

I'm glad to see I still have some people checking in seeing as I rarely get to do updates anymore! I'm in my last full semester of graduate school and it take up all my time! Anyway, to answer some questions...

I did in fact run the F&W half in 2011 with my two college roommates. It was fun and I enjoyed running at night, but that being said, it didn't stand out to me and I've just never made a point of going back. I would do it again if the opportunity presented itself though.

I like Tinkerbell for several reasons. Overall, I think I like the Women focused races in general. There's just a different feel to them that I like. But more importantly, I like the course! The first six miles are spent in and around the parks and downtown disney. This makes this portion of the race go by very quickly because there's so much to see! Then, I just really like running through the city of Anaheim. It's a flat, smooth course and there's always lots of people around to cheer and keep you motivated. Also, tinkerbell is my favorite so I love my medal and I like the idea of being a legacy runner. I will do my best to do a recap of my last Tink race!

The Princess Half went very well and we had a wonderful weekend! While we were there, the couple that we were traveling with got engaged! I had known for nine months that he was planning on proposing and it was so fun to watch it all come together! He actually proposed while we were underwater scuba diving in the living seas at Epcot! So fun! I'll try and post pictures of that as well!
