May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness month after all so i thought I would share a little bit about my goals for the year and my ambitions.
I have Cystic Fibrosis, which is a genetic disorders that makes mucus extra thick. I get sick a lot o have chronic Pneumonia and a laundry list of other problems.
Over the past 6 months my health took a rapid drop and hasn't made any sign of improving. I've been on IV antibiotics a number of times and they just haven't helped me.
I decided to try and make my own improvements. In february I committed to running the Tower of Terror 10 Miler and the Marvel 5k and Half Marathon.
Making a combined total of over 26 miles which i'm calling my marathon in a year.
I am really hoping to train to run and that it will improve my lung function and my overall health. The past few months has left me around 30lbs underweight and with a lung function 33% i am really hoping by the end of the runs I can have my weight back on and my lung function back into the 50's.

I have been trying to keep my progress run wise and health wise updated on this blog. I could use all the support i can get!

Congratulations for not letting your illness get you down and for making such ambitious goals for yourself this year! :cheer2:

Be sure and check out the Jeff Galloway Run Disney training programs for your races -- they are very realistic and doable for everyone.

Good luck! :flower3:

I have been using his calendar for the Half Marathon, hopefully it will get me to my ending goal!

What a great positive attitude ! Good luck to you :)

I feel I should post an update here of some kind.
My running goal was put on hold in June when I was put in the hospital for a week. On top of Pneumonia I had a bad reaction to the medication and wasn't able to walk about about 2 weeks, so i had to do some physical therapy.
BUT last week I completed my farthest run ever of 5 miles. Halfway to my Tower of Terror 10 mile goal.
I know I can do the distance the only thing I'm worried about after that is being able to run fast enough. Even having my pneumonia settled down, i'm worse for the wear.

So sorry to hear of your setback with pneumonia.

Good job with the 5 mile run! You have the tough part out the way!

Trust me - running 10 miles isn't twice as hard as running 5 miles. The next thing you know, you'll be running 7 then 9 and 10 will be a breeze!

Here's to your continued improvement and wishing you no more setbacks!
