Running for my Disney - Now a PTR!

Hope the post-op pain is over quickly. I had a friend who suffered the same thing-came on over a weekend and rushed to hospital and had it removed on the Monday. He was good in about a week I think. He did also remark though, that a few weeks later he had KFC and was so sick- his body couldn't cope with too much rich or fatty foods unlike before - just to keep an eye on what you eat. I notice now, 2 years later, he seems to eat whatever when we catch up so maybe it was a matter of slowly getting his body used to it.

I can't eat KFC level fatty food at the best of times! I have heard of people who experience ongoing problems with fatty food though. Since the op I've had sausages and fried eggs (at the hospital) and been ok. I've also tried dairy and been ok with that :thumbsup2 I think the key will be just not to overdo it with anything. I'm feeling much better each day and hopefully by the end of the week I'll be able to get into some sort of normality again.

In trip related news, I called our travel insurance company regarding the surgery and they said it's no problem. Because it came on after I'd already taken out the insurance they have just added it to the policy. TBH now it's gone it can't really cause me any more issues, so I wasn't going to mind if they said they wouldn't cover it. But it's always reassuring to know that they will :thumbsup2

I've never had any Gall Bladder problems, but I do have Crohn's and from that my experience has always been "Everything in moderation"

Hopefully you're feeling better.

At least they could take my gall bladder out to relieve my symptoms :crazy2:

I think I'm going to be one of the lucky ones. DH brought home chicken and chips for dinner last night (not what I would have chosen for someone who had just had their gall bladder out, but I appreciate the thought :goodvibes). I was a little nervous about eating it, but haven't suffered from it yet!

However, I don't want to put back on the nearly 5kg I lost in the last week, so I will be doing my best to avoid fatty foods as best I can!

I finally received my Dapper Day dress in the mail on Monday! Quick reminder:

I've had to wait until I've felt up to trying it on, and finally did this morning. Unfortunately it is about a size too big. And as I plan to lose more weight before our trip, it's just not going to work.

However, the dress itself is really cute, nice and cool lightweight material, and seems to be a flattering cut for me. so I used the online chat feature on the shop website, and managed to negotiate a 10% discount and free shipping on a replacement in the next size down :thumbsup2

Now to play the waiting game again and hope that the next one fits nicely! And think about what I might do with the too-big one...

Gorgeous dress, love it!! Nice that the helped with a discount.

Hope you're feeling better again now, I've had food issues ever since I had mine out but know lots of people who've been fine so glad you're in the latter category!

Thank you :goodvibes Sorry to hear you're not so lucky with yours. How long has it been since you had it out?

Such a cute dress.

While it's annoying that the first one doesn't fit, there is something quite satisfying about knowing that it's too big for you.

I'm pleased you are doing well after your operation.

That is very true :thumbsup2

It was mainly annoying because I specifically contacted the company to ask them about sizing before I purchased so that I wouldn't have to worry about the whole returns process :headache: But at least having done that they were willing to offer me the discounts on the replacement dress.

Getting a bit better each day :thumbsup2 Now just down to a couple of regular strength panadol per day.

I was thinking this too, it's a little upsetting when you order something and find it's too big, but it's just depressing when it's too small :rotfl2:

We finally got our refund back from Etihad on our original fares. While I am generally thrilled that the Aussie dollar has improved in the last few months, unfortunately it didn't work out so well for us since we bought the fares in USD. Even though we were entitled to (and received) a full refund, we still lost a few hundred $$ between us because of the exchange rate :sad2:

Still, DH is much happier with the new flight arrangements, and it's good to have nearly that full amount back in our bank account. Now I can start booking more stuff ;)

:( Sorry about this.

Nope.

You saw an opportunity and went for it. It was Etihad that didn't live up to their end.

Just updated itinerary on page 1. We all decided that with DH leaving on the Sunday night before we get to Anaheim, it made sense to stay closer to the airport so it would be cheaper and easier for him. I've found a cheap place in Long Beach that gets great reviews and seems to fit our requirements. Our route from Santa Barbara to Long Beach practically goes straight past the airport, so we might even be able to drop him off :thumbsup2

The next morning we can visit the Queen Mary before heading to Anaheim. DH won't be happy about me going without him as we missed out on our last trip. Just means I'll have to convince him to go again one day ;)

Another financial slap in the face :rolleyes2

Ticket prices have just gone up.

Yes, we already have all of our 10 day hoppers, but I will now need to pay an extra 20 USD to upgrade to my deluxe AP. My parents had decided to just buy an extra 1 day pass to get into DL on the day of the 10k, and their tickets had gone up too.

I know an extra 20 USD isn't make or break, but it all adds up!

Bother! I hate it when things go up in price before you get a chance to book them.

I agree with PIO though; the loss of $$ in the airfare was Etihads fault, not yours.

Unfortunately though even if that is the case there's nothing that can be done about it :sad2: There's no way that they would refund MORE than we paid them to make up the difference!

I also missed out on the 9 points per $ with Qantas hotels :headache: so generally feeling a bit frustrated at the moment!

On a positive note, we have another holiday in the works! After about 3 hours of time out messages, we finally managed to nab one of the 'take a friend for free' Jetstar fares to Bangkok for the first week of November :thumbsup2

Wohoo! 2 holidays to look forward to. You'll be back from your USA trip and then you'll be going away again only about a month later. How exciting!

Are you spending the whole trip in Bangkok?

I've been doing quite a bit of research into Sydney lately for my December cruise. I need to book a hotel for one night and I am looking at The Rocks area. Are you familiar with Sydney? is this a good area to stay?
