I am training for a marathon and need to keep up my running during our upcoming trip. What is your favorite route? I like running some of the routes near the Dolphin/Swan/Boardwalk area and running from the Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness. I guess I am looking for a 5-10 mile route.

DH is a marathoner. He prefers the BW/YC/MGM circuit. He also likes running along the river at PO.

He would prefer to not use the GF/Poly run, too many corners and obstacles.

He hasn't tried the FW/WL run.

I very much enjoy running along the river at POR/POFQ at dawn.

Where To Run

Since I stayed at PO last time I did the PO run and found it to be a great early morning run.

When DH was marathon training, he used to love to run around in FW. However, when I was at POR a few years ago, there was an impromptu group of runners (just guys who'd met at WDW) who used to run every morning on the carriage path. I thought that commraderie was nice.

My husband and I both enjoy the run from the WL to FW. It is nice early in the am, it is nice because not to many people were running it I maybe saw two people each day if that and I loved seeing my little bunny friend every morning. We will be at POR in August and try the run there. Of course hubby and I could run together actually we never do, because we have a 7 yo. The only time we could is when my mom is with us Actually on our last vacation in Dec. we spent 7 nights at AKL and 7 nights at WL we made good use out of the gym at both. We paid a one time family fee and it really was worth every penny especially when it rained early in the am. I don't run very well in the rain, especially when you only bring one pair of running shoes. I had my walking shoes for everyday use.

Well just our little thoughts and opinions

One thing I would like to add.......

PLEEEEEEEEEASE do *NOT* run in the roadways!!!!!

A good general rule -- If there is no sidewalk, do not run there. Our roadways are VERY busy, and often times high speed. (Posted speed limits on property are all too often ignored by privatly owned vehicles) Our roads have lots of corners, lots of blind spots, and are often times very narrow. Add in a widebody motor coach and a jogger, and you have something that doesn't mix.

If you wish to jog within a resort such as Port Orleans or Caribbean beach, do so on the sidewalks... the outer roadway that the buses use has too many blind spots.

I've seen runners jogging down Buena Vista Drive during a rush hour... also on the Osceola Parkway and World Drive. Highly dangerous roads.

Once again, I urge you, PLEASE use common sense, and do not run/jog/walk on our roadways.

We just got back from WDW. We did the inner loop at CS (about a mile if you wind around). But if you have to run it more than two times, it gets boring.

We also ran from The Doubletree Guest Suites to Cirque - about 3 miles round trip. I really enjoyed that one at 6:30 AM. Quiet, cool, and fun to go through the Marketplace and Westside when there is almost no one else.

When we stay at OKW, we will do the run from OKW to DTD.

At BCV, we ran from the Epcot exit at the BCV around to BW, on the path toward DS up to the boat dock, back to the bridge over to the S&D (rounding both fountains), back across the bridge over to YC, down the boat dock to the light house at YC and back to the BCV. This was about 3.2 miles for the entire trip.
