Runner tracking registration is up. http://live.activeresult.com/msg/MSG-signup.tcl?event_id=3

Also, for those who will be near a computer Race morning and just want to track a group of runners..
From RunDisney hit the Spectator Resources link on the left hand side of the page.

NOTE: For Goofy Runners you must enrol the texting/email device for one BOTH races

Thanks for posting this, maybe this will work better than during W&D, dw didn't get 1 text on my progress.

I'm confused...do we as runners need to sign up for people to be able to track us? Or are we actually sending the things? This paragraph confuses me...

"Family and friends will be able to track participants with live online runner tracking for the half marathon. Participants will have the opportunity to send split times via email, text messaging, and PDAs by registering for this service on the website. You can also sign up for runner tracking at Disney's Health & Fitness Expo."

You sign yourself or your friends/family up to get updates at every checkpoint mat you go over. They can either be text messages or email - I choose to get both - the email updates I like to see my splits afterwords. The text (when it works) I get on my phone which I carry with me during the race.

And no you don't physically send them - the computer does it as you are tracked. I think what they mean is that you sign them up to get the updates.

You are enlisting cell phone numbers for texting and email addresses for email alerts.

NOTE - any number or address you enlist will have a confirmation code sent to that device/address. You must confirm be reply or through an optional code or the device will not be confirmed and no alerts will be sent.

As a secondary note

The half will send alerts for the start, 5k, 10k, 15k and finish
The full will send 5 mile, 10 mile, 13.1 mile 20 mile and finish alerts.

On a good day the alerts will be withing a couple minutes of passing the mat. On a bad day you may never get the alert.

I'm not in the US, so none of the carriers are the one that I use. I know I've gotten text from athlete tracker on other US races. I will have service in the US - just not sure what the carrier will be (it's just automatic). Any suggestions?

From what I recall about being offshore with my phone is that your roaming carrier name comes up when you power up. Just make note of who picked up your phone and go with that carrier...though that means having to wait until landing here.

Or you can use the links below for a live update if you bring a laptop.

It is also a great way to find your bib number now before the race waivers become final...

Just in case it is not easily spotted, the link is located on RunDisney.com under the spectator Resources tab on the left. Under Runner tracking the second the third links will get you to a page that your spectators can monitor online.

I tried signing up twice for e-mail as well as cell phone and am not getting the confirmation codes. Is anyone else having this problem?

Go to the site and have it push you confirmation codes, again. I just added a new email address a couple minutes ago and had no issue. I wonder if the system overloaded last night?

Two days ago when it was released I kept getting 504 Gateway Errors when I tried to add people after I had already added myself. I think there was just too many people hitting it at once!

I went ahead and had them resent and was able to get two phones confirmed (DH's and mine) and still waiting on the e-mails. I just keeping asking it to resend. Thanks for the suggestions!

Oh, question... Looking at the page you get to from the rundisney site for I guess live tracking... It has a start time on there. Can we extrapolate what corral or wave we'll be in from that given the starting times? Or does it say 5:38:50 for everyone right now?

That's what I was attempting to figure out just before I posted...

The short answer is no, all runners have the exact same start time; 5:38:50 for the half an 5:40 for the full

i did notice that the online tracker is showing numbers for the half into the 40000's. do you think that's correct now??

earlier I did not... with the tracking and waivers having the same number I am guessing that the numbers might be correct. I do remember the capacity of the half being increased this year but did not think it was up to 25k.

Is anyone else having difficulty confirming the codes once they are sent to you? I am guessing the server must be overloaded, but when I try to confirm the code that was sent to my phone and email I get a message saying there is a server error. I have been trying for the last hour...maybe I'll try later on!
