So I can't be the only FitBit user here... I'm absolutely devoted to mine.

So has anybody formed a RunDisney DIS FitBit group yet? I tried searching but, can you believe it, there's no search feature.

If not, I say we get this started... I'd be happy to put one up for people to join! :thumbsup2

Following...I'm not a RunDisney person...yet...but I do love my fitbit and have a goal to someday run a 5K at Disney!

I'd be interested too :) I'm planning on running my first RunDisney race next year (ToT) and have been using my fit bit religiously since I got it earlier this year.

There is a RunDisney fitbit group and a DIS group.

I'm also addicted to my Fitbit! I'm running the 5 and 10ks Princess weekend races. I'll have to check the Fitbit website but if that doesn't work I'd love to join a new group. I feel kind of alone!

I joined the group and introduced myself on their introduction thread :). My name on there is the same as on here in case anyone wants to be "fitbit friends."

Same to what she said above. The group looks fairly dead though which is a bummer. :(

Hi, I am running the 2014 Princess half marathon. I am thinking of getting a fitbit or a Garmin watch for Christmas. Can you tell me why you love your fitbits?
Thanks

Well, I have both a FitBit and a Garmin because they both do different things.

My FitBit serves as a visual tool to keep me on track for my daily fitness goals... Steps, activity, high intensity activity, sleep, and general goal setting and motivation. It helps me make sure that even on non-training days, I'm still doing SOMETHING to keep my fitness conditioning up.

The Garmin gives me direct feedback on my runs... Distance, pace, sets my intervals, and gives me a means to review my performance post-run.

If you want something to maintain daily fitness, I can't say enough great things about the FitBit. If you want a way to keep track of your actual running performance, then the Garmin is perfect.

I agree with what Tropical Wilds said about the purpose of the FitBit. I wear it all the time (not just while running) and it gives me a good measure of how sedentary or not my day was. I like the interactive element with friends so that we can compete and cheer each other on.

I don't have a Garmin but use my i-phone for purpose of keeping track of history, intervals, distance, pace, etc. So that's an alternative too. There are multiple apps out there that do this but the one I use is runkeeper. I read some reviews indicating that the Garmin is more accurate than the I-phone, but it's good enough for my purposes. Also, it does use up the phone battery with the constant GPS usage during the run, so that's something else to think about.

Thanks, Tropical Winds and Chaitali. Maybe I will have to get a Fitbit AND a Garmin. I do use my pedometer almost every day to make sure I get at least 10,000 steps but it doesn't monitor the intensity. I will try using my iphone for my runs, that might be enough for me too.
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

The really great thing I have found about my fitbit is that it really encourages you to keep moving throughout the day. It has also been the best incentive to take the stairs at work - I am always wanting to compete with myself and do better than yesterday :)

But now that I have started raining to do a run, I think I need to get a Garmin to help with that. Am on a treadmill at the moment, so it does most of the work, but once i head out into the real world I am going to need some help tracking things.

Have joined the fitbit group as well - now to finish deciding which of the 2014 RunDisney events I want to do!
