RunDisney & Fastpass+ Fail

I have been counting down the days to add my Fastpass+ 60 day reservations for our October trip. Our travel agent booked through runDisney because my husband is running the Tower of Terror 10 miler. So we (TA and myself) find out today that if you book through runDisney and stay at a Disney resort that you CANNOT book fastpasses until you checkin to your resort. Come on RunDisney... this doesn't make any sense.

So basically my options are buy my tickets out from RunDisney and lose our dining package, which means we would pay for our dining reservations out of pocket. (Ps. I totally know some of you are pro-dining plan and some of you are not :) ) But I like the dining package because it feels a little more inclusive. Or option 2 is to keep our dining package and not book our fastpasses+ til we check into POFQ.

This is a FYI for all runDisney people as well as open invitation for advice.

Ps. I love disboards, but never had a reason to comment.

See if you can get a copy of your RunDisney tickets
(or at least a transcript of the ticket numbers.)

Input those into your MyDisneyExperience account and
see if you can make FP+ reservations.

I've seen a lot of this kind of situation and the info given is often proven
inaccurate after a bit of "work" on the guest's part.

And,
:welcome: to posting on the DISboards, jaybee!

You can't. There is an ongoing issue with the Disney running fans. RunDisney isn't printing the tickets until just before you get there. No ticket numbers to give you!

Call your TA and drop the tickets. That can be done! THen buy them someplace else where you will get the numbers!

Here is the link to the Events/Competitions forum under the W.I.S.H board. There are threads about for each race and someone over there might be able to help out with a solution. I am doing the Food & Wine Half in Nov but haven't booked anything yet so I haven't had to figure out how everything works with FP+

You guys are the best. :thumbsup2 Keep the advice coming. I am just disappointed. We are paying some serious disney dollars on this trip and you would think RunDisney would understand that.

From what I have been told I will lose my dining package if I drop my tickets.

This is probably correct since you need tickets to get dining unless your Annual pass holder or DVC. I hope I don't have issues with my W+d room booking thru RD.

Hmm...I guess I never realized that you could book directly with RunDisney. I have always just booked my package/hotel stays during a race weekend online myself on the normal website. (or through DVC when I used points)

I bought my tickets through runDisney (for a very nice discount) and they are linked to my account without problem. I can make dummy FP+ reservations 30 days out as well (was testing it out). Try inputting the confirmation code. I am pretty sure that's what I used.

I also had my hard tickets sent directly to me as I was concerned the confirmation number wouldn't work. They arrived in a few days, regular MYW hoppers, and that is how they are showing on my MDE. Call your TA and have them send you the tickets.

I answered your question on the WISH pages as well (your TA has outdated info...many have been able to get their ticket numbers), but are you SURE that this rundisney package, booked through a TA, is the best way to go? Are you sure the TA booked through rundisney?

Have you really looked to make SURE that your dining package costs aren't more than it would be OOP? It is possible it wouldn't be awful to do tickets&room without the package.

Honestly, having the middleman of the TA seems really cumbersome, especially when they are getting and giving (and I have my doubts on what info they are currently getting, quite frankly).

We're stuck in the same situation. Debating dropping our tickets and buying them online now.

You should call rundisney and see about getting your ticket info.

Alternatively, last year for TOT I booked through rundisney. We had APs, so they put in (free) minigolf tickets for the ticket portion of my "package" and it was fine.

I wonder if that is what I'm getting. 2 of 3 of travel party had/will have again Ap's at time of booking 3rd one will just get ticket from where ever and probably upgrade to AP. On my Email conf. and papers I got in mail it looks like reg Disney pkg. with vouchers etc.

is this only an issue if you buy tix through runDisney? we are going for W&D 1/2, but will likely use AFS tx instead

Is it still a nice discount? I'm just curious. I remember being able to get a room at AKL Jambo for only $168/night through them for the Expedition Everest Challenge a few years ago.

From what I have put together it is a rundisney issue not through afs, but I have never gone through afs

Yes, we got a super sweet deal through rundisney, which surprised me.

There is not an issue with rD tickets - they are able to be added to MDE accounts without problem.

It was about a 25% discount off the room at the BC, and the tickets were a great deal - I saved over $100 per ticket on 6 day hoppers.

I agree with the advice you got above about double checking all this with your TA. I think when the whole MDE was rolling out there was a delay in making tickets "linkable" for a while, but that is no longer the case. Your TA should have had the option for the tickets to be sent out or have you do will call (which is what it sounds like you are doing). Either way, there is a confirmation number that comes immediately after purchase and I was able to link with that. I then got my actual tickets about a week later. You absolutely are able to link rD tickets and use that info for making FP+ reservations.

I got this email back from runDisney... gotta love getting it in writing. So it looks like RunDisney is trying to work out their side of the kinks with My Disney Experience.

It looks like if you book with RunDisney, it will still be a little extra work to get your tickets linked. But I am more than willing to put in the work to have a little less wait time at the parks.

"Greetings,

Thank you for contacting runDisney. For Packages for the Tower of
Terror 10-Miler Weekend, you can actually have a Disney Dining Plan on
your package, without theme park tickets. Your Magic Your Way Tickets
can be purchased for the same price seperately, and we will provide you
will a confirmation number that you can use to access Disney's Fast
Pass+ service through the My Disney Experience website.

For further assistance, please contact (407) 939-4786, and press Option
1 for Walt Disney World, then Option 1 again for Disney Resort
Reservations, Disney Theme Park Tickets, Disney Dining Plans, and more.

Thank you,
The runDisney Team"
