run disney registration

on april 28th they open registration for January races. How fast do they normally fill up. Looking at 5k

The early entry filled rapidly for the Dopey (and I presume the 5K and 10K).

On Thursday when I signed up, the half was at 62%.

Just checked and here is the present registration percentages. (There will be more 5k and 10K on sign up day. Early spots did fill.)

early registration sets aside a number of bibs for DVC/AP, but the remainder of the slots will be opened on general registration day. When early registration sells out, it doesn't mean the entire race is sold out.

That said, it's likely that the popular choices (Dopey, Half, 10K) will sell very, very quickly (1-2 hours or less from Noon, eastern time). Surprisingly, Goofy didn't sell as quickly last year. Not sure what it'll look like this year.

On April 14th early registration opened up for AP holders and DVC owners,that's only a small percentage of the entire slots which will open up on April 28 at noon for the general public.The time is important because some races and challenges will sell out possibly within the hour.The smaller races,the 5K and 10K will go first along with the Dopey Challenge,the half marathon will go soon afterwards with the full marathon and the Goofy Challenge that could last for months.The thinking that the 5K will fill up last may have been true before Dopey came around,you have to realize all 7,000 Dopey runners will also be running the 5K and 10K races leaving few slots for runners only doing the 5K,which doesnt have as many slots as the full and half,so you take away 7,000 slots for Dopey that leaves like 4- 5,000 or so slots for runners only doing the 5K.Dopey has made the smaller races go real fast,the 10K has been around only the last 2 years the same as Dopey so there was no prior history for sell out times.If you're planning to run the Dopey,half or 5K and 10K you must be at your computer right at noon ready to sign up or risk not getting in.Go to the events sub section in in the W.I.S.H section of the boards for more discussion of the Run Disney races.

Actually that's not the case usually. The marathon and half have spots for like 24-25,000 the 5k and 10k are much less. The 10k tends to sell out first it's a very popular race. The 5k usually next. The dopey sells out usually in less than an hour because there are only 7,000 or so spots. The marathon seems to be the last to fill up at least that's the way it was last year when I did.

Another thing we learned last year is that many people who did the Goofy challenge in years past switched over to Dopey,I guess they figured if theyre going to run a half Marathon and a Full back to back why not throw in a 5K and a 10K in the days before to get six shirts and six medals.Even with the 10th anniversary of Goofy last year registration for it lasted until like October or November along with the Full.The downside to Dopey is that the smaller races had less families running it with so many Dopey runners.

Thanks for the info, that is good to know, I was thinking they were already sold out for everyone.
