Rumors that Disney is in negotiations to sell Star Wars back to George Lucas!

I think that’s been confirmed already. Season 2 of Andor is supposedly going to take place over a 5 year period or something like that.
Each episode should time jump in the next season. The final 2 episodes are supposed to be the days leading up to Rogue One. I don't think you need to wait to watch it as you're going to be waiting a while, especially if there's a SAG strike.

Breaking news if you haven't seen it Daddy Iger just had his contract extended through 2026. Must think he needs more time to fix this mess.

You act like this matters to me. It doesn't. Lots of art loses money. Disney wanted to tell a mature, adult story that wasn't about laser swords and the Force. It was about what leads people to rebellion. If Disney was worried, they wouldn't have green lit season 2. It has a finite ending after season 2.
I mean take the company behind Yellowstone. Paramount Global so far this year has lost $1.2B.

DMED despite the studios/streaming losses because Lucasfilm is in shambles is still profitable.

I just go back to we went 16 years with no Star Wars content aside from novels, a time period when the franchise was at its zenith, to an era where we're angry because season 3 of something Star Wars related is not as strong as previous seasons. I guess I'm just less worried about getting that same hit that the OT brought me as I get older. Some Star Wars content isn't for me like the High Republic stuff but I'm glad it's there for those who enjoy it.

So it seems like we agree that Star Wars was at its zenith before Disney started making mediocre Star Wars content. Or am I misreading your statement above?

I mean what gives me hope is there have been a few slivers of hope that make me think Disney can get it right. Like seasons 1-2 of Mando and Rogue One. But then I see something like Book of Boba with power rangers in it, and I worry they will just screw it all up more.

Zenith of popularity, not content. You want to judge the quality of both eras then you have to throw in the Holiday Special and the Ewoks movies in the OT bucket. I've said before, nothing done now will ever beat how the movies impacted you as a younger person. You will chase that high forever but you will never again be the same person you were when those came out. And that's okay. I can enjoy Mandalorian, Rebels, Rogue One, and Andor. Those are enjoyable to the adult me. I probably enjoyed Rebels more than most because it felt like what I grew up watching. It felt like Star Wars. And my kids who were young at the time absolutely loved it. That was weekly appointment television for us.

Then explain the end of Season 2 of Mando? Biggest viewership of anything ever done on Disney+ by a large margin, trended on social media for over a week, and tons of reaction videos made on Youtube with grown men and women crying seeing Grand Master Jedi Luke again. I felt exactly like I did as a kid watching that. I also felt like someone got it (Favreau), and he was giving Rian Johnson the finger and showing him what the real Luke was like.

Anyway, I agree on the popularity thing. Star Wars was way more Popular before Disney began messing it up.

People love nostalgia. Same reason the Force Awakens did ridiculous amounts of money and was a carbon copy of A New Hope. People wanted to see Luke Skywalker wreck stuff with his lightsaber and save the day. Why wasn't the Book of Boba Fett episode with him teaching Grogu not also the biggest thing ever? Because that's not what people wanted to see. Both were pretty important for the characters going forward.

Mainly because it was pretty stupid. Disney appears to have wanted Grogu back with Mando and to sideline Luke, and this seemed like the easiest way to accomplish that. Basically, the entire Book of Boba was pretty stupid. Did you see the Power Rangers?

they were the Mod Squad...

LOL the more this conversation goes on I realize just how polar opposite we are in tastes. I found Boba Fett highly fun, really want a pet Rancor....

Now Luke? Meh... kinda a whiner honestly...

I don’t know why we keep having the same arguments instead of talking about the Star Wars stuff we like (or having nuanced discussions about content that missed the mark for us).

Top 5 Star Wars moments since the Disney sale! I’ll go first. :)

1. Everything in the lead up to TFA, especially the first teaser at Celebration. Hearing Luke say “the force is strong with my family” sent shivers down my spine. It was an amazing time to be a fan.

2. Season 2 finale of Mando, for obvious reasons. My husband started filming me as soon as the X-wing showed up and I’m so glad he did because it’s one of my favorite videos ever. I scared my one year old screaming so loud, haha.

3. Owen telling Reva “he is my own.” As a long time Owen Lars stan, this made me fist pump.

4. Luke and Leia training together in TRoS. I don’t care about the rest of the movie. I’ve wanted to see Luke training Leia since I first read Heir to the Empire in 1992 and I gasped with happy tears when I realized what I was seeing. (It didn’t help that I was 6 days post pardum ar the time.)

5. The reveal of Thrawn in the Rebels trailer at Celebration 2016. I was texting my friend updates because he was out of the country with unreliable internet and couldn’t steam the panel. As soon as I saw Thrawn, I lost it and started texting him in all caps “THRAWN THRAWN THRAWN!!!” And then they announced that Zahn had written a new book and I yelled “TIM ZAHN YOU ARE A DIRTY LIAR!” (A note that Tim Zahn in fact never lies, he just omits the truth. Never, ever play poker with him.)

I mean there were only a gozillion memes on-line ripping on the Mod Squad, so I don't think I am alone thinking that they looked stupid and out of place in Star Wars.

Solid list, tip of the hat.

I concur that the end of Season 2 will lead directly into the events of Rogue One. I wonder if they'll even throw in some little surprises.
Thanks to everyone for the information about S2 of Andor leading into Rogue One and also the link between Rogue One and Star Wars. (Sorry, it ain't ever gonna be "A New Hope" in this house!) That will make for a fun sequence once S2 of Andor is available. (And yeah, let's think good thoughts about the WGA strike!)

Started Andor last night, but got interrupted before the first episode was finished. It looks incredible for sure, so I get why everyone was saying that now. Only thing I will say is that so far it feels like a random SciFi show that doesn't necessarily feel like Star Wars so far.

Why does everyone think no one watched this series? Fatigue from all the prior bad content (Mando 3, BOB, and Obi Wan)?
It was slow and boring. (Where is the ducking emoji when you need it?)

But I'm not even really a Star Wars fan. I love Mando, the rest is decently entertaining and I haven't even seen all of the OT.
