Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Touring Plans throwing more click bait out there. Seriously ... they have put in so many wrong dates .... stop. Leave it blank. You don't have to have any info in a placeholder, you leave the code in that box blank.

But got to love that the date is a whole new one to add the the collection .... WHEN IT OPENS IT OPENS and at that point still not even sure I'll care anymore.

December 1 would almost be a relief, our trip is 11/14-19th and am tired of wondering if I will be able to change our plans if ROL is open next week. We are pretty much locked in by FP+ to be at EPCOT on the 18th which has been one of the rumored opening dates.

Well I look at it this way ............ if it does open the 18th .... it will be TOTAL CHAOS. That area can't handle the crowd of people that have been waiting like rabid dogs for this that won't be able to get a FP+, if they even offer them at first, trying to get in the SB line. We don't know if it can run back to back ... and it needs to run 3x to be able to cover the crowds that will come. I think my expectation is the experience and the other guests will be negative enough that I won't enjoy the show ... and that is assuming the show is good and doesn't glitch out.

I would much rather wait until this thing settles in, runs smoothly, offers FP+ and Dining Packages and they get a grip on how they will handle the inevitable disaster of SB .. if the show is good. If it is more the JBA style we might see the SB side of stadium more empty like when I went.

ENJOY your trip!

I'm in the same boat as you! We leave this Saturday and will be there until the 18th. I'm not having high hopes for it and have already planned otherwise! Have fun :smickey:

We just got back last night from an AWESOME Wine & Dine Half Weekend!! The only time we were in AK was for the races (thus the behind the scenes float pic I uploaded to here that day) -- and that was fine with us for this trip! Did a TON of F&W time, awesome F&W events/demos, and Club Villain at DHS -- awesome event. Here's hoping that RoL is running by next Aug, but really, at this point, not sure that we care at all. :)

I wonder if they would find any of the animals on the Safari the next day, after fireworks like that.....:rotfl2:

OH OH OH, I didn't mean at AK .... sorry, my bad.

I love animals :cat: :dogdance: :ewok: :dog2: :fish: :squirrel::dog::snail::butterfly, I wouldn't want to upset them. I actually was very concerned about what ROL would do to them ........... and after sitting in that theater and having my eardrums pierced by the too loud audio, I know they are not happy.

I would take these at ............. Epcot or MK. I would give up a Rivers of Light "show" in order to have this somewhere else.

Glad you had a good weekend - I ran the 10k as my first race post-baby and was surprised that I enjoyed it so much. I thought the weekend was a lot of fun.

I'm actually with you, I don't know that I care about RoL any more. I still want to see it when it debuts, but I won't be rushing for FPs, dining packages, etc. I've just lost interest at this point.

Congrats on the 10K!! I really liked that course -- glad you enjoyed it as well!! :)

Can someone who is there now tell me what approximately what time the Tree of Life Awakening starts? The website say's "begins after dark" but that doesn't really tell me anything. For our evening allotted to AK, if ROL doesn't happen, we will be doing the evening safari around 5:30 then heading over to Epcot for a dinner reservation and Illuminations.

We'll be there in a little over two weeks...looking forward to the TOL lights even if ROL doesn't happen.

Thanks!

The awakenings that are full scenes are short-ish (est. 3-4min) and happen at intervals. The animal movements are also at intervals and are about 10-20 sec. Other folks will be able to say better what the intervals are. When we watched them in June, the full scenes was about every 20-25min. The "kiss goodnight" was beautiful, and worth the wait. The cast members never confirmed there was such a thing in June,so I don't know how helpful they'll be. The night we watched the kiss goodnight was 15 min after close. (In case you come back to AK some night during your visit.)

I will agree that the Tree is just beautiful during this. I so wished I had skipped JBA and just plopped down in front of the tree. Next time I plan to set aside a good amount of time to watch it, beverages in hand, and hopefully get the goodnight! :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to seeing it in pperson - the photos look so beautiful...I guess what I was asking originally, is during this time of year, what around what time do they start these events...supossedly sunset is around 6:30, I think...do they wait until total darkness or start before that?

It was posted on another forum on another site that they are scheduling people (CMs) for next week (for Rivers of Light). Do we dare hope?
There are no FPs yet for our week after Thanksgiving...if they aren't doing FPs for it, there's no way we'll be able to see it as I know the lines would be incredible.

With this being so new and the whole park being on unknown path, who knows? It seems so random and uncommitted but I think it's to avoid bigger crowds there. I don't think it's being given the attention it deserves from Disney ... and it works.

LOL everytime I give up on ROL, a post like this pulls me back in. Fingers crossed for next week! I'll be at AK on 11/17

Let's be real, they've gotten an extra 7 months over the agreed upon completion date so this thing should have been ready to roll at any given moment. With so much extra time it absolutely may open, and with that time it should be glorious! But it may not, or it may open for a few shows and close again .... or worse, it may open nightly with just one showing. Disney's greatest mystery.

There's never been a more perfect project for all those throwing out dates and projections to get it right by default. "Soft openings on such and such" "Soft openings next week" "Mid month" etc etc. With so many constantly "updating" their projections so that when it actually opens they "got it right" ... this is quite humorous. It's like playing all the squares on the craps table and say you picked it ..........

Folks fingers are numb from crossing based on the ever changing guesses put out there. I just have to wonder if they will be able to handle a SB situation at all, it was quite the cluster with JBA when it opened but of course was no problem after it was seen and reviewed, and demand disappeared. I personally wouldn't get anywhere near that theater without a FP+ or Dining Package if the show is good, but kudos to the brave.
