Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Orlando Park News ‏@OrlParkNews 9h9 hours ago
A Rivers of Light show took place around midnight tonight, probably for Disney executives. The music could be heard from outside the park!

From your lips to ............. Baloo's ears cause I think he is project manager. But to play devils advocate, it could have been simply a test, maybe a test to see if it can run for D23, if it an run once per night (disaster) or if it needs to go back to the fine tuning phase for a later date. "Hearing music outside the park" does not mean they ran a full show. Doesn't sound like they saw anything. There may have been a technical run, doesn't mean there were any entertainers. Could have been full dress but may have been only technical if there are still float problems, especially with following quote .....

Believe me, I know that it not's happening until it's actually happening. If nothing else, 10 months has taught me that! And like many others, would love to see it next time and I don't go as often as some others, but I have no worries or expectations of it at this point!

Hope you don't think I was including you on the "rumor-ers" list. I think MOST of us true LOUNGERS have a reality check, and this community thread has allowed us to express disappointment and some anger with Disney in ways that make us laugh, poke fun, dismiss the constant promises etc. I do feel bad for those thinking there is real info out there and they come to these threads looking for it.

It takes a VILLAGE of LOUNGERS to make this crazy ride's LOONNGGG line/wait palatable.

It was final show testing and preview for upper management last night. CM previews haven't been set yet…

SO I'm reading (TOTALLY OPINION) pretty, interesting, cute, enjoyable NOT exactly words to excite me. Coming off lukewarm.... Don't think this is what Disney would be looking to hear as a review.

No CM previews yet but D23 this weekend .... will they have them? do they want CMs even talking about it? Hmmm .....

Inquiring minds want to know.

Maybe we have been waiting even longer than we knew, this was "something" with a name 9 years ago.

Rivers of Light???
Comments Off on Rivers of Light???
Posted in:Walt Disney World Resort

I was walking through Animal Kingdom earlier today and came upon a large number of park managers in Dinoland U.S.A. with some papers in their hands. Being the good guy that I am, I decided to stand around like a normal lost and clueless guest would. The group was discussing places to put additional lighting in the park, perhaps planning for longer hours to accommodate longer park operating hours. This could be the early planning stages for “Rivers of Light”, a night parade on the rivers of Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. The earliest I would expect anything to be announced on this is Animal Kingdom’s 10th Anniversary on April 22, 2008. Stay tuned to WDW News Today as more becomes available.

THIS IS AMAZING. $15 BUTT CUSHIONS FOR RIVERS OF LIGHT. I’M DYING.

I do appreciate the design, allowing it to be used at any park, any show and any curb. AND what does $14.09 mean?

That's hysterical. It could come in handy for sitting your bottom on the ground to watch a parade at MK. I think the $14.09 is pretax. I bet with tax its an even $15.

Conveniently coded with an orange price tag in case ROL actually opens, anyone wants to purchase those godforsaken things, and they need to up the ante...

I mean that theater was a bit uncomfortable...

The year it was supposed to open ?

Well, I have been known to bring along something to sit on, especially at Fantasmic, more from the fact that we usually go during the time of year when it can be chilly in the evening, and those metal bleacher seats are COLD to sit on...but a folded up towel works just as well. I guess I'd rather see a seat back contraption - something to lean against. Maybe something like this:

Not sure I'd want to lug it around all night for a 15 minutes show, but for a longer show maybe it would be worth it.

I actually have one of these but its for the stadium seats at the college football games. It has my CFB team logo on it. I have no idea how much it cost as I got it as a gift and it came in a sturdy cloth bag, also with the team logo.

I actually brought it to Disney last year to use for parades. LOL

Proof positive that butt buffers may be an untapped market at Disney Merchandise ... until now.

I can think of many butt benches I find purposely uncomfortable. Nemo, even with awkward backs is my biggest deterrent from seeing the show. If we design a blowup butt buffer they would be easy to inflate and deflate and carry around.

Too late - I see they are a thing. Low as $6 on Amazon.

I actually read a tip to use a blow up bath pillow for that purpose before!

hmmm...sounds good for those who are small, but don't think it would hold my weight, and I would be very embarrassed if the darn thing popped...or worse yet sprung a leak and deflated to the sounds of a whoopie cushion.... :rotfl:

We have a WINNER! Best post this week, maybe longer!

And so glad I had just put my drink down before I sprayed my computer. AND thanks .... now I'm trying to work a whooppee cushion in to my next trip, surely it will be good for entertainment at some point.

I just found out that my husband already owns a butt cushion. It was apparently a Secret Santa gift one year, and he's never used it. So I'll be all ready for RoL.

Tonight is the Cast Celebration, and DH is celebrating his 10-year anniversary. We've been so excited for a night out away from the kids, and for the food, and drinks, and riding the MK rides. So of course Gray (baby RoLf) has decided now would be the perfect time to come down with RSV and a double ear infection. Fever, stuffed up nose, cough, wheezing, the whole lot. When I told him he was ruining mommy's night out, he laughed, and then wiped his nose all over the dress I was planning to wear. Freaking kid.
