Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I totally agree with @dachsie!

Used to live in SD and the zoo is terrific. Also just visited DL in Jan after YEEEEEAAARS since my last trip -- first one for the kids -- and it was FANTASTIC!! So much fun to have that Disney Magic feeling, but with so many NEW things! :)
Make that 3 votes for DL. I so want to go someday!

Don't shoot the messenger but there's a rumor TH is going to 2 credits. I won't believe it until it's official, just like opening dates for ROL:furious:

I heard this, too. :crazy2: I did hear that existing ADRs would have their 1-credit reservation confirmations honored (per a phone CM, so whether that's reliable info remains to be seen), and that it's lunch and dinner only. We like breakfast and pay OOP, so aren't affected yet, but I wonder if a price increase is soon to follow...

They just raised all buffet lunch prices to the same as dinner and that was on top of another increase. Enough already!

We went to see the nighttime stuff at AK again Friday, this time without the kids. Still kind of meh about it all. The safari was still just ok, and I really do feel sorry for the animals. We decided not to do the JB show again, but the shows did seem full. Expedition Everst at night was amazing; we were climbing up the hill as the Star Wars fireworks were going off at DHS and it was really cool.

The Tree of Life projections are fantastic, but my favorite things were the little 'movements' the animals carved into the tree made in between projections. They were really well done.

Waiting for this tropical storm to hit today. I usually love days of rain because it reminds me of England, but I'm going a little stir crazy stuck in with baby!

Stay safe and dry!

Hi loungers!

I read a rumor that JB would end Early sept, then perhaps no evening show at all until early December when ROL may or may not be ready-

Has anyone else heard this?

Have you heard anything to the contrary?

We are going mid-sept and I was sorta hoping to see rol, and if not, at least JB....

I read somewhere that they are trying to get ROL ready even faster now due to all the negative reviews on JB. So I dont think there will ever be a gap in the nighttime entertainment....and hopefully we'll have ROL sooner than Labor Day!

I would love it if it's RoL for our trip mid Aug... we're going for a quick W&D Half trip, but who knows if they'll be running RoL every night by then... plus late nights when you're running all three races aren't the best idea... ;)

Went to AK today and tonight. Planned to do JB but we actually missed it. Dinner went long and the safari was a priority. We did it about 8:45. It was good, lots of animals and you could still mostly see them but I wouldn't want to go later and 8:15 probably would've been perfect. I do actually like the sunset, it just doesn't really help much with seeing the animals.

Got done at KS and fast walked to EE so we could jump on before JB let out. EE at night was great! Pitch black in places!

Saw the DJ at Dino-land but not much else. Did catch the tail end of JB while walking to EE and it looked really pretty on the water. If you can believe it, I completely forgot to look at the tree as we were leaving. D'oh.

Here I am with my youngest on Tricatops Spin. Check out my shirt!

Oh and even though I was not able to change my TH breakfast to a JB dining pkg beforehand, they did do it for me when I checked in at the restaurant this morning, after I asked. We have the dining plan so it still "cost" us the same.

glad you had a great day!

For anyone there now - what are the bag check lines like in the mornings, and do they still have the line for small bags?

I drive down tomorrow!!!! So excited!!!!
We have yet to make a rope drop (my dad just won't cooperate with the plan...ugh) so we've been about an hour late most days (around 10) and bag check has been mostly ok everywhere but AK yesterday was bad.

Didn't see a line for small bags. Just no bags or bags.

When we were there in April, we didn't see any "small bag" line either. All the lines moved fairly quickly - and practically every day, one of us got the "special" treatment of going through the metal detector - I guess we just looked shifty...ha ha ha. It became a joke trying to figure out which would get "honored" each day.... :)

Same here on all fronts!! :)
