Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I feel very lucky that /something/ will be there for us to see, and very relieved that we'll be able to do the night time safari and eat at Tiffins...! :)
If only the night activities were available for our trip in 10 days!! Definitely going to have to get a Tiffins ROL dining package if it ever manifests for my birthday trip with DH in September.

So.... I have a confession to make.

I've never seen Star Wars :scared: so I've never had any interest in the SW things... which made planning simpler and made me one of the few glad SW fireworks weren't falling on our HS day, so it'd be less crowded... :duck:

BUT now I'm SW-curious and want to see what all the fuss is about... :ssst:

Where do I even begin?!

Watch the most recent one if you don't find old movies entertaining in general. I dearly love the original trilogy but without the nostalgia factor I'm not sure it would hit you the same way since it IS dated... :) If you enjoy it then I'd go back and start properly - ep 4, 5, 6 then 1, 2 & 3.

Just going to say I have never in my life seen Star Wars, but I loved the Star Wars fireworks! They are amazing! Go see them even if you don't know a thing about Star Wars. You won't be sorry! (But I totally get wanting to start. I kind of do too. I did just read all 7 Harry Potter books for the first time to get ready for my first Universal trip. I may be crazy!)

We booked a Once in a long while, mid-May trip. I had a glimmer of hope for Frozen Ever After when I saw it on the press preview schefule. But the videos weren't much.
I saw the RoL preview videos and it reignited my hope. Then the parks blog announced a Jungle Book show beginning Memorial day. I feel absolutely crushed.
Any news on the Friendship Fair?

We finally arrived at the house of Mouse!!! After sitting in traffic enroute to airport and then waiting for almost 2 hours to take off we made it only an hour late than expected. Since we were arriving so late I decided to try online check-in for the first time ever. Wouldn't you know I got a text and email at 8:30am yesterday (4/19) that our room was ready. First time ever a room was ready that early. It's the mouse toying with me cause he knew we weren't gonna be here for a long time. All the other times that we take the first flight in - our rooms are usually ready in the afternoon. Gotta love it.

Anyways time to catch some sleep before heading to MK later this morning.

I think there are a fee ways to go about it. I would probably try to watch in the order they were released, so start with episode IV.

What about the rides? Is there a chance night time FP will become available for those? When new FP are released for something like this, does it typically happen at midnight or in the morning?
In the past, once updated park hours have been officially posted to Disney's website, new FP openings are soon to follow.

I told myself I wouldn't spoil anything but I couldn't help it! I am almost speechless--cannot wait to experience this in person! That rush of feeling in my chest.. just from a video! I don't know if it's just me... but that was absolutely amazing.
Aargh, you made me look. I was purposely avoiding any video when I thought Apr 22 was the date as I wanted to be fully surprised. I have avoided it since the postponement because I was dealing with my 'grief'. Now that I see it, I can't wait to see RoL in person but I will not be doing it any time soon. Like you, I wish they still had the other nighttime stuff for the people down there around Earth Day.

It's not just you, I got chills watching it. Can. Not. Wait.

I would definitely recommend starting with the Original Trilogy, I think even without the nostalgia factor they are still great sci/fi adventure films. I know someone else has suggested watching The Force Awakens first but I wouldn't do that as a lot of the references and themes in there would go straight over your head haha. I'd generally just avoid the prequels, you really don't need to watch them, they don't add anything to the story so you're safe skipping over them!

I just spoke to a CM who didn't know anything about the Jungle Book show or any of the night time attractions opening on Memorial Day weekend. He transferred me to a supervisor who also didn't know about any of it. She said that they had no plans yet for the night time activities at Animal Kingdom, so I directed her to the Disney Parks Blog. After being amazed by the pictures of the Tree of Life all lit up and how beautiful they were, she read some of the article and was very surprised and confused as to why they were never notified of any of it. She apologized that she couldn't give me any information regarding ADRs, FPs or hours and said she was going to call her superiors to find out what's going on. Of course it wasn't her fault, but I was shocked that something like this would be announced to the public without anything being told to the CMs, not even a memo this morning, who have to take calls and answer questions.

Gonna have to stalk for FP again (for beginning of June). Guess I won't be running over to DHS to see the Star Wars fireworks on my AK night. Will have to do the F!/SW fireworks Combo on our DHS day.

So I guess I'm back to stalking. My dh loves Jungle Book so I guess we'll see whatever is showing in August. At least I know the park will be open after dark, hopefully maybe LOL:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Count me in for the "stalking" for our June trip!:bored::surfweb: Since I am the one who does all the planning for our group, I just informed them that we might not get anything new at AK, so now I get to tell them the watch is back on and it looks good. (Even though it's only ROL Lite) Going to visit my daughter in early May so hopefully we will know everything then and can make final plans.

Speaking of visiting my daughter - anyone on here in the Virginia Beach(that's where my daughter lives) area and want to meet-up. If you don't want to post it here - send me a PM.
