Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I modified after midnight last night and I thought it was quite easy. Also, more availability seemed to pop up for my dates bc I modified all my times to EXACTLY what I wanted, where as all week they've been off by up to 30 minutes on some attractions.

We did. The Disneyland board right here is where you want to start. Tons of wonderful information designed just for the WDW vistor

I agree with @AngiTN that the DL forum here is very useful! We went in August and found it much easier than a typical WDW trip. Less planning intensive and definitely shorter wait times. The ADR frenzy is also not an issue ... you will be fine with the two-month window.

Hey all !!! Happy Sunday ! Hope all is well --- going thru a bit of "Disney mourning"

DW and I have been going to WDW for thanksgiving for over 20 years--- last 10 with our DD , and now with our DS

Was ready to book for this year ( actually had POP booked already) and now doesn't look like we are going to be able to go- :((.

With our new jobs, only time we are going to be able to go on vacation is when the schools are closed -- ( we are booked for June 30- July 9 --- )

And DS will be starting Kindergarten, and won't be able to take him out of school for 5 days --- our holiday trip is tradition for us --- can anyone relate?

Can anyone in here recommend a nice planning app for our WDW trip? MDE is nice and all when it lists your FP+ and ADRs with the respective times for the day but I'd like to add park opening times for the day which I can't seem to figure out how to do in the app (on the desktop website I can see it just fine). Ideally I'd also like to make some short notes about EMH and such. I can put everything in Excel or Notepad but that looks a bit ugly and my phone doens't do well with Excel sheets. Is there something like a WDW trip planner or something?

I did our FPs last night. I liked some things about the new system but I'm not so sure about others. It will just take getting use too. One thing I didn't like was when I wanted to go back and change something it took me all the way back and made me select my group again. I have about 25 family and friends on my list(only 8 with tickets linked) so had to go through and pick out the 8 that I needed all over again. Maybe it was the way I was doing it but I liked the old way where it just brought up people with tickets linked.

That's what is happening to me too!

This was happening to me too but it is back up now. (Website down)

We (parents and I) used to always go the first week of December. Perfect crowds, decorations up, MVMCP, mild weather. But it's just not doable anymore. I've taken time off and done it but as a teacher I only get 3 personal days, so it really has to be a short trip. Both this year and next we are doing early June (this year with my parents, next with DH). Honestly, I think it will be fine but I do long for those early December days!

The Lines app from Touring Plans.

I really like TouringPlans' Lines app! I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago and plan to use it to reference my personalized plans while we're in the parks for our upcoming trip.

I'm really excited to check stuff off and then click "evaluate" again. Hoping that helps us to determine if we need to skip over something and come back to it, take a detour, etc. Yes, planning/touring geek here...lol.

This is super OT I know, but does anyone know at the refill stations at the resorts if there is a "soda" button for seltzer/club soda. We call it seltzer where I live and I asked for it once on a road trip in TN and the man looked at me like I was crazy and said "y'all must not be from here, I don't know what seltzer is". I had to explain water with bubbles lol. I don't drink soda but am debating getting a refill mug.

Here is some info/pic from the DFB http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/disney-refillable-mugs/
We are not soda drinkers, but Gold Peak tea (all varieties) is a nice option.

Has anyone heard anything about dining packages for Rivers of Light? I have reservations for Tusker House in August, but I would obviously like to change that to a dining package if possible. I haven't seen anything.

Likewise! DH wanted to "wing it" on this trip and I couldn't do it. I've just been making plans without telling him all the details but I really think that using TP this time and planning in breaks will make it feel more relaxed/like not every single minute is planned. Last night DH asked what we'd be doing on our arrival day, though, and I started rattling off our touring plan for that afternoon. He said, "Wow... you really are crazy about this stuff. But I guess that's a good thing!"
