Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

if I go to edit that day, just I show up. it's like for that day, those 3 never made selections, but I could have sworn I made all the selections for all of us initially. It's of course possible I didn't, but that would be weird for me to have missed them on one day. After my initial selections, I added a day of tickets to accommodate staying later for ROL (ah, how naïve of me), so maybe when I made selections for that last day, maybe it messed something up? Maybe they were connected or something, so it took them away from another day? trying to figure out how to make selections for them now, although it will be tough to get the same times...

If you call the Disney IT people, they're really good about that stuff. Dec 2014 we added two families together on MDE and our FPs would not sync up no matter what we did. Finally I called and they fixed it in like 2 seconds. I felt so dumb lol.

I'd start with the main dining/tours etc, number, and they can transfer you to someone who should be able to help...might take a while...seems that # I always a long HOLD...

I'm sure some of the band activities will take up some of the trip too. Hopefully, it won't be quite as busy as we've heard it's been this week! I'm sure they will have a magical time just being there, like you said, but like I was saying previously, it's tough when it "feels" super crowded and it's tough to walk around! Hopefully things will quiet down a bit! I'm guessing you may get a call this weekend, lol!

I'd also have a very hard time not spewing out information at them...people who have never been to Disney just have no idea what it is.

But, since they are going with a huge group, maybe there is someone doing overall planning that will including them in the major stuff... I only hope they don't come away thinking it's just a big, crowded, and expensive tourist trap.... (that was what I thought before we ever went - way back in the early 80s...)
Their son is going with a group but they aren't involved. They are just going at the same time, nor that makes sense

I gave her the easyWDW website and she started reading that and really found it very helpful
Then today I gave her a list of the rides and attractions in each park that we view as high priority, don't skip if possible
I suggested they get on YouTube and watch ride videos and show videos to help figure out what rides the like most
The band is doing MK, HS and AK so that is what they plan to do too
Today she asked if I thought they should skip HS and do two days at MK. I hesitate to suggest that since the kids would like the HS rides so much.

@jlundeen @beesly Blackberry winter? Or at least, that's what we call it in the South. We are in the 60's during the day and low 40's (38 one night) here and that's definitely not our norm for April. We've already reached the 80's this year.
It's dogwood winter here. Because the dogwood is what is in bloom
Too early for our blackberries
The next cold snap will be blackberry winter here

I had to google that term - not sure we have a phrase for it here in the mid-Atlantic other than "that groundhog was wrong!" - but it definitely applies. We've reached the 80s, too but are waiting patiently 'til May to start planting anything outside.

Here in PA we're having our Onion Snow today. At least I hope it's our Onion Snow. I thought we had that a few weeks ago but apparently that was wishful thinking.

We were supposed to get an onion snow today (coating to 2 inches). Instead we got at least 5 inches. Just a few miles north of us, our friends got 7 inches! We're ready to see some palm trees!

In fact, :offtopic: my Disney obsession saved me from an extremely painful work event of my DH's. We got invited to a very small gathering for one of his colleague's birthdays. I was DREADING It. They are all German engineers, and while they are lovely people, I have NOTHING to talk to them about. They all either have no children or grown children. But then I sit down next to the fiance of one of the engineers... and it turns out that she is a former cast member, and we talk for the next 2 hours, completely ignoring the rest of the group who has absolutely no idea why we are both so excited and talking non-stop.

My DH's former secretary worked for Disney. He never told me about that minor little detail. One day I had to call her about something and she commented on our upcoming vacation to Disney and then mentioned that she had worked there for 8 years before moving out of state due to her husband's job. I nearly flipped. How could my husband keep this secret from me????? When he got home from work I asked him about it. He told me he was afraid if I knew about her Disney past I would call her constantly and always want to go out to lunch with her to leech more information from her. <eye roll>. As it turned out, she missed Disney so much that she and her daughter moved back there a month or two later and her husband stayed behind for another year until his assignment was finished here and he could move back, too.

I also ran into a former CM during a backstage tour at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. She was the tour guide and within 10 seconds of her introducing herself, I knew she had worked at Disney. She just "screamed" Disney. Then she gave us a little bio about herself....grew up in Orlando....moved to NYC 2 years ago.... No doubt in my mind she worked for Disney. As we began walking to the next area I asked her how she grew up in Orlando but ended up in NYC -- she seemed like she should be working at Disney. She said, "Oh, I did. For 12 years. Loved it!" Turned out her boyfriend had worked on one of the traveling Disney productions and was offered a position with the Broadway version of the show and his dream was to work on Broadway. Needless to say, she and I chatted the whole time we were walking between stations.

No blackberries for us yet, but the dogwoods are blooming everywhere. This weather is making me sick ... literally. I'm beginning to be afraid we are going to skip our wonderful 70 degree weather this year

Speaking of the groundhog (or hedgehog as my kiddos call it), I have it on great authority that the furball was caught smoking a little something before he made his prediction and now we have solid proof that such things alter your mind to a drastic degree. I saw it on Facebook, so you know it has to be true ::yes::
