Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

My itinerary for 4/26 has us in fantasyland right after rope drop. :( Is it worth rearranging or do we think most will be at breakfast by then?

We have no idea... it stinks to be the guinea pigs for that first day, doesn't it? Josh at EasyWDW doesn't think it will have a noticeable impact: "The event’s effect on “regular” guests should be minimal, although it remains to be seen how many guests are admitted and how they behave. It would make the most sense for those taking part to hit the open rides hard from 7:45am – 9am, perhaps pop on something else in Fantasyland once it opens at 9am, dine from 9:30am – 10am, and then continue elsewhere after that. A guest doing that would not affect waits much for those entering from the main entrance."

My plan for that day was already to head to SM first and then other Tomorrowland attractions. If I had plans to head to Fantasyland that morning, I would keep them, but with a back-up plan in case waits are too high when you get back there.

So, off topic, but I'm seeing that no outside food will be allowed in Animal Kingdom, and it's a precursor to rolling it out to all parks within six months to a year. Take with a grain of salt, but I don't like this at all. LOL.
I remember WDW when there was no food allowed (back in the 70s, maybe 80s as well), and I was surprised when they started allowing food. It's my thought that they may allow things like baby food, and snacks, but no more lunches etc... There are very few (if any) amusement parks that ALLOW outside food to be brought in.
Also, I'm not on an austerity budget trying to take my family to WDW.

Maybe they will just make folks put their coolers in a locker (they're out by the entrance/exit) and folks will have to eat near the lockers at picnic tables... I could see that happening...

And, to be honest, I've never been inconvenienced at a CS restaurant trying to find a seat while a non paying family takes up a table with their picnic.

Lots of changes coming. I don't see all of them as being helpful for the average family who gets to Disney once in a lifetime!

Good morning loungers!

Thought i would share a funny story, knowing this group would appreciate.
Thanks to you all, I signed up for the TP reservation finder for bog in September (you may know that there were no bog reservations available after 6pm for all of September). Even though I signed up, I still stalked almost constantly. Because, you know, that's what we do.

Yesterday I was at the dentist mid-cleaning when my phone started dinging like crazy. I thought it might have been bog opening up and I was right! I kindly asked my hygeniest to sit tight for a minute while I booked them. Felt very glamorous wearing my paper towel necklace thingy LOL.
But I got em! :yay: :flower1:

I am rooting for all of you who are making ROL-alterna-plans to get a little pixie dust from somewhere too!

Awesome job! I just signed up for TP as well and set up some alerts for BOG. Accidentally set it for Dinner and my first alert was 9:50PM! Just a tad late for dinner I'd say.

Our plan was to go straight to Frontierland at park opening, so now I'm guessing that since the EMM people will be in Fantasyland all the rope droppers will be heading to the other lands and making the lines more crowded.

Planning for 11 people has been challenging enough and Disney is not helping one bit!! My plan was A&E at rope drop because our fast pass is at 9:30 pm and I hate having a fp that late. I guess we will attempt and see what happens!!

I always thought AK had that restriction because of the animals? Most zoos around here have that rule because people had fed God knows what to the animals even though they were not supposed to. With just in-park food allowed they can at least control would could end up in an animal's habitat....

No, they don't have any restrictions in place on foods. They have such a wide variety of food in the park that they sell that it would be just about impossible for guests to bring in some ingredient that isn't already there.

Congrats! Glad you're hygienist was understanding. :thumbsup2

I got an alert at 4:30am today for a 5:55pm BOG dinner on 10/2 (we're planning on MNSSHP that day). Unfortunately, by the time I woke up and saw the text, the ADR was gone. At least I still have about 6 months to have TP keep checking for me!
Ha I know, right?

Good luck with your adr- you probably know this, but you need to sign up for that day/timeframe again after you've been alerted. 4:30 in the morning, sheesh.

Back to the ROL drawing board.. seeing as it's not a possibility for our trip next week I need to figure out what to plan for our AK day in November. ADR's a month from today... geeeeesh! I wanted to do Sanaa for lunch so maybe we'll plan on that with a FP+.. But who knows!!!

I really hope this isn't true.
Me too. It doesn't affect us as we don't bring any food in but I know how important it is to others.
But I'm not believing it until I see it in writing from Disney.
Not some blogger that is just rumor-mongering.
Heaven knows there has been an abundance of rumor-mongering in regards to Disney lately.
I mean, how many times have you seen "this EMM is the end of EMH!" and such as that. It's gotten quite old.
Disney is far from perfect but my goodness are they being equated with an axis of evil lately.

Your plan makes sense to me. Thanks for posting Josh's thoughts.
I don't see people who pay extra using valuable ride time to eat waffles. Probably a good chance Pinocchio Village Haus is going to be swamped with guests getting into long lines between 9:30 and 10:00.

I just looked this up.... and I wanna do it! Ahh.. I think an only child 4-turning-5 is too young to get involved without older sibling's encouragement. Maybe 6? Please let this still be offered in 1 1/2 years! And not at an inflated price!
Since it's a paid event, the likelihood of it still being there in a couple of years is pretty good. I guess it depends on how Shanghai does. They may need to cut more from WDW if they need the funds. (tongue in cheek)

Good morning Loungers!
This morning's hootenanny brought to you by Emo-Eponine...

"On my own, I've read and watched and waited
For some news that's scant and so elusive.
When the Riiiivers of Light will fin'ly open,
And I can book a fastpass, or perhaps a dining package.

In the blogs, the comments are so plentiful.
Their remarks with witty candor showing,
how us loungers grow tired of simply asking...
when and where and how and just release the schedule pleeeease!!!

And I knoooow it's only a few daaaays, till we reach 600 pages.
How our hooooootenanny grows each passing daaaay,
while we wait, an' commiserate.

The Riiiivers of Light will finally open,
and on that night will be some fierce rejoicin'
And from Maggie we'll hear some helpful news then.
I just can't wait, my vacay is so sooooooooooon!

I just heard... it's delayed.... till May.
So glad I'm lounging heeeere!"

Can I just ask about the comments earlier about the extra magic bands and the same day Fp+ as I got a bit lost.
It's way to complicated a topic to start in to here. But there is a HUGE thread with all the details over on the FP board. I'll hunt down the link for you.

I tried to find the link to the thread but I struck out. Maybe someone else has it, or knows who started it?

My DS on the right is holding a long unipod and it is screwed on the top. About the size of an apple tv remote. 360 degree photo but literal, so sky and ground. I can then rotate it any position I want. In the picture by him you see white/black object that doesn't look like it belongs. (Ricoh Theta https://theta360.com/en/) It is taken remotely so I was actually taking the pictures with my iPhone. So you can sit it down and leave it, hide and take the picture if you don't want to be in it. I have the original, but it does much more now and fine tuned.

Here are a few of mine -

Look into it. The new one is even more amazing. There are some great photos on instagram etc that folks have gotten so creative with. Wish I had more time to dedicate to it.

At the parks everyone stops me and asks about them! CMs stare at me.

AND I can see over construction walls ;)
