Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

The extra cost is 70.00 because we do plan on getting park hoppers. Arriving on a Wednesday in August around noon for flight so probably at resort by one.....I feel I need to decide so I can get the tickets and plan the FP's. Hoped to go to HS early the next morning because I have two that would like to do Jedi training, if that's still offered.
I personally would go have an evening at MK or AK on arrival day! I'd have a hard time not going lol. :)

However, per the request of the rest of my party, we're swimming and having a resort day our arrival day. Partially because it's really our only free night the entire trip. (5 nights)

:offtopic: So, I asked this on another thread and got one response that was helpful but I thought I'd check and see if the loungers had any feedback...

I'm thinking of doing the Pirate Adventure Cruise out of BC&YC for my kids DS11 and DD9. Anyone who has children that have done this before - are my kids too "old?" If it helps, my son loves Sorcerer's of the MK, and generally likes scavenger hunts and adventure. I think they'd both love running around the World Showcase (love Agent P too), but not sure? Thoughts, concerns, advice?

We haven't done it, but it sounds super fun. We did the pirates/pals fireworks cruise out of the contemporary and had a blast. Granted, that was for the whole family, but I think they do a really good job with this. I wouldn't hesitate to send my 10 year old daughter, I think she'd love it.... but she also loves stuff like sorcerers and scavenger hunts.

All the more reason to book it...

I think that they would love it, the more I think about it. the only problem is that with all the curve balls with this trip, it's might be tough to squeeze it in - it's available on the day I'd want to do it, but we can't move our test track FP, so I need to think on it...

We did that last year - very fun!

There was a wide variety of ages when my grandson went a few years ago. When the boat pulled back into the dock there were lots of happy smiles and talk about their adventure. Whether they were younger or older, they all seemed to have had a great time. pirate:

Would you consider doing single rider on TT?

i used to love the parade at AK. It was my favorite parade. I was quite sad when it ended.

In all the years that we've been going we never got a chance to see it. :sad1: The last time we were there we knew it was shutting down - but we had major problems at the resort and we missed it. We love AK, DD loves seeing all the animals.

So I'm still depressed about the news. I'm glad that we finally got some concrete answers just not the right ones. But now I have no idea what to do with myself. I'm basically done with the planning -just need to make our meal selections for BOG lunch and breakfast. Last night at midnight I started logging into MDE and then realized it was all in vain. I feel lost!!!!! I feel deflated!!!! I feel cheated!!!! :(:guilty::sad: Sorry to be a downer - I guess I just need to say it out loud.

So on another note...since I had all this free time on my hands I started reading other threads. Found out some interesting tidbits on DVC.
1. There is a DVC discount for Club Villain in DHS ($99 for members v. $129 regular price). I'm sure this is old news to most but I just found it today. Called up DVC and got a refund of $90 back :yay:

2. Changes in membership for those buying resale went into effect on 4/4/16. Inquired about this while I had DVC on the line - the perks they cut out really suck!!! These changes don't affect me but still. The only perks you get with a new resale DVC membership are: TOTWL access, pool hopping and free DVD rentals at the resorts. This means no AP, dining or merchandise discount, no access to special events. Glad we bought in when we did.

My almost eight year old loved it. I would also HiGHLY recommend the Family Magic Tour at Magic Kingdom if they love scavenger hunts. Highlight of our last trip.

That's good to hear - thanks for the feedback! I have a feeling that they'd get into the spirit of it, and probably enjoy helping the younger children along - both my kids (but especially my son) make friends everywhere they go!

Good point! I forgot about that! We usually like to ride it together first, but that's a good option. The more I think about it, the more I think that they would like it and it would be worth figuring the other thing out since this is the last year my older one could do it! Thanks!

We have never gone to the parks on our first day. Looks like flights may get us in around noon. Debating if it's worth the extra money (7 adult tickets as no one is under 10 any longer) to go to the parks the first day. Flights leave early - around 6 in the morning and we currently have Ohana booked for dinner at 8. But, MK is open late this day. Unless they change that....who knows..... I would like to hear from the first day park people. Is it too exhausting? We already have 7 days planned for the parks. Is 7 1/2 too many.....I haven't been able to make up my mind and I'm running out of time to do so. :tinker: Thanks!
We fluctuate. This year we arrive on a MK EMH day so we'll arrive around 10, 11 am, let the kids swim and get in the room, head over to MK around 4:00. We have dinner planned at 6 pm at LTT, so we'll hit Tinkerbell on the way in, swing over to POTC, then on the way to the restaurant we will do the Magic Carpets, dinner, fps for SM and BTMRR, then we'll hopefully do HM, try to see MSEP, Celebrate the Magic and Wishes, then back to the resort because we have 8 am ADRs for BOG. Fps for PP, 7DMT, A&E, catch Ariel and a few other Fantasyland attractions, then over to fp for Space Ntn, hopefully grab Buzz then we're outta there hopefully by 3 pm. If we can hop on 7DMT early, our PP fps are for 9 am, I can change up 7D for a different fp. Maybe Belle or Buzz. We have a 3rd MK day planned with a full on princess day, but we're working in lots of down time.

I saw that one! I thought it was only for 10 and under, but now that I see it, I see it's just recommended for 10 and younger. hmmm, that could be fun too! Now I have a dilemma...which would you recommend? I'm not sure that the Magic Tour would be available - I booked the other one since I figured I could always cancel...

That's tough decision. Darn Disney putting kinks in plans.....
