Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I'm not sure where to begin here...

The Disney that I know is missing. The theme lately has been too much Nickel and Diming us, delays, closings, etc. I'm left scratching my head about the behind closed doors leadership decisions. It appears to be too much silo work and not a lot of team communication.

However, I just want to focus on RoL. This is flat out poor leadership. I'll let everyone in on something... There was zero reason to announce a date, until that date was 100% certain. Without a hard date announcement, all of us would be waiting with anticipation, looking for rumors, and growing in excitement. Now we're all sitting here angry, frustrated, and confused about another strange and ultimately negative announcement. A company this size should know better. Most of us here are Disney nerds that are at least one, sometimes two trips a year. (I'm a twice a year guy!) Unfortunately we often forget about the ones whose trip is "once in a lifetime", and might have planned around this very event. I know, I know, things happen, timelines change. This is exactly why you wait to make an announcement. An unforeseen delay, should've pushed dates back a week or so, not a month.

I'm sure to get negative feedback on this post and I'm okay with that, what I'm not okay with are the last six weeks of announcements that have rolled out of WDW.
We are unfortunately one of those families that treat this as a twice in a life time. We were very fortunate to go in 2014 and had the opportunity to go this May. I planned as if this might be our last trip
We'll be at MK on 4/30! ... and now so will the extra morning magic people.

And we have an 8 am BOG. :'(

Icing on the no-RoL cupcake.

My daughter's first day at Disney, was excited for a BOG 8 am breakfast. Now I need to rework my entire plan for MK 4/30 and AK 5/2.

I... feel a little heart broken at the moment.
I felt the same when they added the After hours, took away the FP for Wishes, delayed Frozen, no Star Wars Fireworks for May, and now ROL. I can take a a few disappointments but there have been MANY with this trip in just the last two months. Keep your head up. It will all work out one way or the other. It is hard when you get that initial blow but the planner in us will find a way to still make our trips magical! In fact I bet we are more disappointed then our families will ever be. For them it is a fantastic trip to DisneyWorld I can almost bet they will have a great time!

I just called to ask the Myriad of questions that I have regarding the morning magic hours, such as will there be a welcome show that day? Will people in the park that have not purchased the extra tickets be allowed to ride those rides before 10 a.m. xcetera and was told they can't answer any questions about it until tomorrow. Okay then.

I'm so sorry!! That's exactly how I felt when they switched the dates for the paid night thing. I still haven't cancelled my pre-park BOG because I'm in denial! It's so hard to roll with the punches - to be "fluid" if you'll forgive me ;) - when it's at such a late date! I was still dealing with the uncertainty so you have the double blow - so sorry!
It will work out we just have to regroup. At least we have each other and we can understand what each is going through. The planner in us will do everything we can to make this a great trip. It is very hard to roll with all the punches I agree but we will make it work!

Am I missing something on the Early am dates- I clicked the link but see no dates with info?
All I see are Tuesdays and Saturdays-from when until when? Forever?
So Tues was a non EMH day now has am- Wed is eve EMH- Thur is now DAH- because clearly MK is not that busy so Disney needs to find a way to increase attendance!
If you search the dates, you can see which ones are early party dates. I just changed my FP from Buzz to PP because the day I wanted to ride PP was an early day. Hope I can catch Buzz first thing

Interesting! I wonder what the heck that means!

Not so happy about these either and by the time our May 15th trip comes,it will be to late to see how these(am and pm) will effect us. People are already crowding at MK with everything NOT going on at DHS and EPCOT and no Evening at AK for now.so this just doesn't seem to help it. I don't get it.
One of those early days at MK is the 17th in case you didn't catch that. THat's when I was going to do PP at park opening. :(

Wait- so on those mornings, are guests without a ticket for the morning thing not even allowed in until 10:00am...?!?!?

"Disney Early Morning Magic is a separately ticketed event taking place on select Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7:45 AM to 10:00 AM. However, the number of available tickets is very limited—be sure to buy your tickets before it’s too late!"

End of April thru end of June right now.
I'm not happy about this at all! The only 2 days we planned for MK is Saturday and Tuesday !:furious: I don't know what to do now. I have a BOG dinner reservation on Saturday and they are so hard to get.
This vacation has been the hardest to plan :( I already have all my dining reservations set.

We are in the same situation as you. We went in 2009 and thought it would be are only trip. Now we get to go in May (YAY!) for what is definitely are last Disney trip as a family and the disappointing news have outweighed the positive news we've received. There will not be ROL, or Star Wars, or Pandora in our future. We will not get to ride Soarin again (My favorite attraction). Yes, we will have a good trip but what all it could've been is what I might have in the back of my mind. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully my attitude will be back up. I just don't need any more news from Disney today.

Ok, today's news just made me rearrange my Mother's Day trip. I am now going to AK on May 8 instead of May 7. I have secured a Crescent Solarium Tea on Saturday the 7th, so I am preparing to dump a Mother's Day Tea at the Grand Floridian May 8th at 3:45 for 2 people. PM me if anyone wants to coordinate.

@rteetz probably has rumored knowledge of this. I remember reading something about regular guests allowed in queue once the park officially opens. So looks like best bet it ride, then eat breakfast at park opening. I think breakfast was to start at 8:30.

Park will open at 9 am to regular guests and they will be able to go on the rides at that time.
  • Around 9:00 AM, the theme park will open to Guests with regular Magic Kingdom admission tickets and event-only attraction access will end.
I would be riding the rides until the lines get too long - then go eat my breakfast, taking my time until 10.

No, they enter at 9 and can ride at 9.

:teacher:

BUT something to also consider on those dates ...........

Folks with pre-park opening ADRs at BOG etc, hoping to get a few rides on 7DMT before the park opens to the general public .......... will not be able to ride until the line is open to the general public. The Magic Morning Event folks would have exclusive access until 9. If that was my only reason for booking a PPO ADR, I would cancel.
