Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Off topic - has anyone come in after the fact and added the dining plan? I called to do this but I had booked a room only, added my tickets later, and she said she'd have to turn my reservation into a package. The cost of the DDP for 4 adults, 2 children was going to be 1900.00 for 5 days, but what horrified me was that she said she would have to cancel my dining reservations. Though she assured me she wouldn't "lose" them, I can say that every one of my ressies (except 1) would be IMPOSSIBLE to replace. (BOG, CRT, Imagineer, F! H&V, pre park opening BOG and Garden Grill, 1900 Park Fare). I am not willing to risk it so I guess I'm out of luck.

She also said she "paid off" my room balance (I did that while on the phone) even though I have been told that I couldn't do it until check in with room only. I guess we'll see...

CM is part right/part wrong.
You do have to convert to a package to add dining
But you don't have to cancel things
And you can most certainly pay off a room only reservation prior to arrival.

We never do the dining plan (does not save any money) and we always pay off prior to arrival.

I think lately I'm more upset at the switcheroo of the early morning hours Friday and Saturday at mk and Epcot. Talk about plans being ruined.

I will have about 4 hours of work I need to finish up that first day of the trip. The plan was to go to mk was early morning hour at 8 until 9.

Have my laptop with me and go to the poly to hang out outside and work. Have lunch there then go back into the park before we have to go to the run Disney expo.

Now I don't even know if it's worth going to the mk at all since I wanted to be done with my work around 1.

Well, I guess that could be true, however, with all the other nighttime activities that they have been hyping, I don't understand why they couldn't plan for later park hours, regardless of whether or not ROL is ready for primetime...
ROL is the main event for nighttime activities. If thats not ready I don't think they want the park open late yet.

Also here to confirm the above. I have never bought the dining plan and always pay off my room only reservation prior to arrival (on trips where I'm not using DVC points).

Ugh - such a pain! Yes, I'm more upset about the switch too, at this point. I was so focused on the ROL thing that I feel blindsided by that and I don't want to deal, lol!

There was a lot of talk on the FREE DINING thread about the different reservation types...I'll see if I can find the post from there that really described them well, and then edit this message.

EDITED: Here is the post - #130 on the http://www.disboards.com/threads/free-fall-dining.3484174/page-7

"A ticketless package includes the room OR the room and a dining plan. When you plan to add components at a later date, it is recommended to book what's called a basic package, which can only have a room on it or a room with a dining plan.

A true room only starts with a number 4 components cannot be added to it.

Any PACKAGE (whether it be basic, ticketless, with tickets, with dining or without) begins with a 3 or a 6. These are the only PACKAGES that components (such as tickets or dining) can be added to."
Quoting myself so this doesn't get lost...just in case you didn't see it after I edited...otherwise, just disregard.

It's from Marlyn in post #6785. Love passing along credit for awesomeness!

Thank you :flower:

Lol yep, little one is still ignoring all attempts to get him to pack his bags. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow to decide if we should wait a little longer or think about an induction. I have tried every single thing I can think of to get him to move, but nothing so far. DS3 was a week early and weighed 7lbs 15oz so now I'm terrified about this baby being huge and still having to get him out somehow!

I hope little ROLf decides to make an entrance today!! Come on little guy, we're all waiting to meet you!!

Also for those going April 22nd it's the actual anniversary of AK, 18 years old, and Earth Day (not a coincidence) they will have giveaways and special activities at the oasis area (right after you enter the park) with a Jungle Book sand sculpture on display, they also do special things at Rafiki's Planet Watch, so regardless it'll be a good day to be at AK

Oh, I so wish I was going on April 22 now!!

So guys -- I'm 2 days into our first ever DVC cruise (first cruise ever for 3 of us!) -- I was SURE they'd open stuff while we were at sea with spotty internet?!?!?

Awesome!!! Have a great cruise! :boat:

You absolutely can pay off a room only reservation over the phone. I've done it a few times, will do it again this week.
The balance is due when you check in, unless you pay it off sooner.

This is true. I pay mine in chunks based on how our Canadian dollar is. I'm always paid in full prior to check in, package or room only, doesn't matter.

:offtopic: Just a little embroidery project that helped me keep my mind off stalking ROL infoView attachment 158612

That looks great! Good job! I wish I was crafty...but, alas, my sister got that gene.
