Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I've got plans for the rest of the day. I look forward to resuming the "vigil" in the morning...

Animal Kingdom Post from Disney Parks Blog (3/18/2016.)

  • Rivers of Light will be shown two to three times nightly, so everyone should be able to get a chance to see it when they are visiting the park. And while the Harambe Wildlife Parti will have the flavor of Harambe Nights, it will be available to everyone with regular park admission. No extra ticket is needed.

As excited as I am to see ROL....and obviously I am Excited about it since I'm following this thread faithfully, I am also very exacted about the rest of the nighttime offerings. Harambe Nights was amazing, so to have a lesser version of that every night is very exciting to me!

Which one of you guys asked the parks blog to send you a personal email before the general public gets notified? LOL.

From the comments on the blog....

I hope all of the new Animal Kingdom nighttime experiences are as entertaining as the barrage of blog comments about park hours, fast passes, and dining packages for Rivers of Light. Disney planning is high pressure! Planners unable to plan! Armageddon!

P.S. I could really use this info. If you send me a personal email with all of Rivers of Light details ahead of the general public, I’d appreciate it.

I'm thinking of starting an official everything new at AK thread. However, I'd be more than happy to step aside if someone here wants to start it while you are waiting and keep it updated regularly?

ETA: Got a volunteer.

Could that thread be a 'just the facts' thread or one where the pertinent info is added to the first post? As much as I adore this thread, it would be wonderful for there to be a companion where info could more easily be found.

@ArielSRL could also do that here with her post #1 and then note it in the title that the latest info is in post 1. It's kind of up to her I think.

I believe that @OhioStateBuckeye will run it along the same lines that @yulilin3 runs the Official Wars Thread and the way I started the Official Frozen thread.

Help a newbie out here:
Our last day at WDW is April 21st with plans to be in AK on the 20th. It's our first trip in 20 years and with no plans to come back in the next couple years. We're not "Disney people" really. That said, of all the nighttime entertainment ROL is the most interesting to me (as is AK as a park, which I've never been to). I was hoping there might be soft opening FP options or something, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. IF we are able to book a preview, do we need admission tickets for that day or do our preview tickets provide us admission for the duration of the event?
So many similarities, I just had to reply. I have been to WDW as a child three times in the 70s and 80s, once at the Poly, too. Then after my last visit in '92, came a looong break (being from Europe, Disney was out of reach). Now finally going again with the kids. Yeah! Being at AK on the 20th, leaving on the 22nd. Perfect (mis-)timing! Don't know when we'll be able to come again. So I am really, desperately, hoping for a preview chance! Disney, do you hear us?!

We leave on the 22nd, too. I hear you. Fingers crossed. I am hoping for some updated DP blog info this weekend. Who knows for sure though.

So, if we're to presume the details of the two different level are accurate - yes, I know, they're unconfirmed, but just for a moment humor me...

I'm reflecting on the differences between the two so as to inform my cost/benefit ratio as I throw my entire itinerary up in the air if I score one...

One (premium) is open to 4,000 and the other 8,000 - correct? And we think the park is closed to people without tickets, correct?

Is this a huge difference - not in a math sense, I know it's double - but I guess I'm not sure what that means in terms of what it would be like in the park?

Any AK experts in the audience that could give an opinion or a sense of things?

I will be starting the thread this evening. I will design it so that the first post has constantly updated info. I'll prob also update the title based on new info.

May I add another point? We know that a certain number of the tickets for the premium event are already spoken for. It's hard to know how many are left for the general public. Tickets for the event on the 15th may be pretty available, or they may be very limited.
