Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I'm not sure why people keep saying the show capacity is 5,000. The SEATING capacity is 5,000. But it's a big show on a big lake with walkways everywhere. I don't doubt that 8-10k can watch the show comfortably at a time. Plus, daily attendance may be 30k. But how many stay the whole time to watch the show? How many families head back to the hotel and don't come back? How many skip it altogether because they've seen it a few times and want to take another spin on the Safari? Etc. 30,000 people is all the people who walked through the turnstile all day, whether they came in for a character breakfast and left or if they came in for the evening EMH. It doesn't mean that there are 30k people there at night every night.
While I agree that not everyone who comes through the turnstiles is planning to stay for ROL, I'm not sure that viewing from anywhere other than the two seating sections is really an option. From what I've read on many of the threads, the visual effects are aimed at the audience, and while people standing on the walk ways might be able to see some of the lighting features, much of it will be blocked by the trees etc. It's not like EPCOT where the water if easily visible. THat's what I've read anyway.

How many could be seated at Lights, Motor, Action Stunt show? around 5000? How many shows did they have daily? and what is the average daily attendance at HS? Just curious :rolleyes1

We will try and see ROL when we go in June, but if we can't I am not going to stress about it. (I'm still super happy that BTM is not going to be closed) Our AK day is usually opening until about 2p, so we may try and hop back one evening, I don't really want to use our FPs at AK, so may try and get a FTree dining package if that is one of the choices, not sure yet.

Lurker here who is posting on this thread for the first time but does anyone else think they might tier the nighttime attractions so you can get a fast pass for ROL or the nighttime safari? DH doesn't want to eat at Tusjer House and I don't want to spend 2 credits at Tiffins so unless they open Yak and Yeti for the dining package, I'm stalking for a fast pass...
Ps- our AK day is May 10th.

:offtopic: But I have to share!

I just put my weekly donation into my double secret stash :squirrel: and then I added up what I had and what need to do unsanctioned Ohana, Star Wars Dessert and ROL Mythical Preview Party (non-premium!). I hadn't really figured it out in all the excitement...

I have exactly $1 more than I need! How weird is that? And a month more to save! Now, if we did the premium party, I'd have a ways to go!

It is *almost* dancing banana worthy...but not quite...
:cheer2::cool1:I say let the dancing begin! Way to go!

Again, I was asking specifically as it relates to the possible preview parties, as we'll be there in April before the start date.

Also, I could be mistaken, but Lights, Motor Action is ending in April, I think.

Magic Kingdom has changed closing on 4/27 from 10 to 11 PM. That's also a EMH night, so it will now be open to 1 AM - and while I would LOVE to be able to close MK park at 1 AM, you have to know that it will be more like a 10 or 11 PM closing for me.... LOL

However, if park hours change is being announced, can AK be far behind???? (She asked naively)

Impossible to tell. My opinion is that Disney IT doesn't have it in them to offer different FPs for the same attraction based on time of day.

I'm wondering why they're coming out one at a time

I've got plans for the rest of the day. I look forward to resuming the "vigil" in the morning...

she's mine --- and I'm not sharing !!!

Another one stalking for the dates of April 27 & 28. Heading down on the 20th, but boarding DCL on the Dream for a Cruise on April 22 (scheduled way before RoL opening date was announced). I called Dining a few times last week and the week before, was told the same as everyone else....to watch the DPB for announcements, etc. Also, checking online starting at 11:00 PM for FP+ and around 5 AM almost daily for dining since I'm on central time! Just hoping for some way to see the show either via FP+ or dining package, or levitation....whatever works! Yawning here in Illinois!

209 pages, and do we really know anything yet?? All we know is that the Disney website is promising some event called RoL, and we don't even know when it really starts, whether it costs anything to see it, and what days and times it's shown, lol.
