Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I always plan my days in full: ADRs, FP+, etc. even if I'm waiting for a bunch of things. I build in some duplicates and/or some spots where I could plug in the new thing if it does materialize. It would drive me INSANE not to have some FP+ held once I hit my 60-day mark! But I'm a little nuts that way, I guess... o_O

We love love love Animal Kingdom early in the morning! Seriously I just love the peacefulness of it. I am sure it will be awesome at night but a different experience at the same time.

Especially when kids were young, this is exactly what I'd do, FWIW. :)

Thanks guys! Convinced for afternoon break!

We have 4 day tickets upgrading to weekday select passes, 5 days of visits planned for this trip. So I have to chose between FP+ Epcot or AK. I had chosen Epcot but with Soarin down and Frozen not open yet, now I'm thinking AK instead. We're at 46 days away!

I spoke to a CM an hour ago who stated that they had the ROL dining packages and fast passes all ready to go and had a glitch so they postponed them. I asked specifically "have they postponed Rivers of Light show or just the packages". She replied that it was just the packages and they were hoping to have everything fixed soon. I currently have an ADR for TH on 4/23 and I asked her if I could switch it to a dinner package. She said to call direct and they would be able to do it over the phone. I then asked here when she suggested for me to call back and she said in the next 2 days. Who knows if that is actually true but thought I would share what she said.

worth a shot to book something & try to flip an ADR, good luck. May just try the same for my dates, worst case could always just cancel it.

Just spoke to a very nice CM - no new info other than the premiere is still on her calendar for the 22nd. She said to call back about previews/dining packages on April 1 (yeah no :rotfl2:) but that was just her thinking - nothing official. Starting to worry the previews will be invite only and not a ticketed event. Hope I'm wrong!

I actually changed a breakfast ADR because Frozen isn't opening May 1st, like originally planned. However, Disney hasn't confirmed exactly when the ride will open. RoL is scheduled to open April 22nd. Dining packages are still TBD.

Oh Stitch and his coffee!! He tried to take my dad's carafe one time and discovered it was empty. He shook it, then turned it upside down and looked at us with his hands in a "WHA---??" position. My dad said "It's my fault, Stitch! I drank it all." And Stitch gave him a "talk to the hand" gesture. We lost it.

Memories like that are what keeps me from cancelling my 'Ohana breakfast ADR though I keep pondering it.

Too cute! I know, my kids love 'Ohana breakfast. This trip, we decided to cut back on sit down/character meals, both to save time and $, so no 'Ohana. But then my kids, especially my daughter, kept talking about how much they love Stitch breakfast. I've always kind of liked that breakfast - I like that it's family style so you don't have to keep getting up!

So, anyway, we extended our trip a day from departing Friday 2/22 to Saturday 2/23 when we heard about opening night of ROL. The other day, I couldn't help myself but I added a very late O'hana breakfast to that Friday morning - I figure, we can hit MK for a couple of hours, head to breakfast, then chill at the pool at our hotel for a while until we go into AK. Of course, I haven't mentioned this to DH quite yet...

Where did this postponement talk come from? This thread is the only place I've seen anyone talk about it being postponed. Disney rarely announces an opening date and then changes it after the fact.
Someone on here said in reference to a letter he wrote Disney that he got an email to the effect it was postponed indefinitely. He said the person got the info from "higher up". I didn't totally discount the rumor, since my May 1 FEA dreams got crushed. I didn't walk away either. Still checking.

I believe it was only one phone CM (correct me if I'm wrong, all).

Found it, I think...
Guest relations called me after I wrote an email. She said the official word is packages, fastpasses, special preview parties have been "postponed indefinitely" and will not be going up Tuesday. I asked her if ROL is still going on April 22nd and she said it has been "postponed" and to keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog as they would announce it there a few days before it goes up. She then asked me for my resort and asked if I got all the ADRs I wanted and I said yes. She looked in my account, said I was a pro at Disney planning and that I had great ADRS and that was that.
Sounds to me like Apr 22 being postponed could easily be this CM misunderstanding. Especially since no one else has gotten this response. Unless there's another similar response I didn't catch.

I'm sorry to ask what is surely a repeat question, but I can't find the answer. Does anyone know if you need to pre-pay for this package if not on DDP?
I will be trying to book a reservation for 9 tomorrow, and I'm hoping to not have to tie up that much but will if I have to. Thank you:duck:
Im not sure but I know you will have to have a credit card to hold the reservation. If your booking online make sure you have one saved in My Disney Experience.

Not sure how much you'll want to hop since I know you said you plan to do AK in the morning and the evening, but in our last two experiences at AK we haven't needed our FP's in the morning. We rope dropped and did all of the rides with minimal waits - so you could always FP+ Epcot and get there in the early afternoon (you said AK has EMH, right!?) and use your FP's for Epcot then. Just a thought, I know that would be a lot of traveling/hopping around that day!

I just called Disney to make sure my tickets were linked. When we were finished with that, I asked her when FP would be available for ROL. THe CM who sounded like she was from India, said the only thing they know at this point is tht is opened on 4/22 and to keep checking.

The info you get from the reservations cast can be maddening, especially when they sound so sure of themselves. It is easier when they say they don't know.

I called about an Art of Animation reservation that I had booked under "Family Suite". (it was all that was left). The CM explained to me that they had some suites there that were not themed, they were like regular hotel room suites with no theming, and that is what I had booked. I said, no, I think it means we get whatever is available at checkin. She repeated herself (and of course, she was wrong, I was right).

I check this thread each morning for info, thanks so much to those who have been calling in!

That is so true! I still laugh about the time they were trying to sell me tickets. I have AP. The CM told me that was no good that I needed the park hopper!
