Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Feel free to emote if needed - there's been a lot of that in the last 50 pages or so! :(
I'm sad for everyone with trips this month or especially next month who thought it would be open for sure. Our trip isn't until September, so no temper tantrums here....YET. Id like to get my plans straight and grab a ROL dining package, and I wanted to get it booked before (if) FD is announced and I'm competing against all those people too. But no panic just yet here. I finally scored our BOG dinner so it wasn't a total bum week with my Disney plans.

Oh no... Please, please don't be this busy in 22 days. :'( We're not going to park on recommended days 3 of the 5 because of time changes and just the dynamics of our stay.

we'll be there in 23 days so ive been thinking the same... but the optimist in me thinks since everyone is there now, maybe it will be SLOWER than predicted our week?! A girl can dream :)

Rivers of Light and night time Animal Kingdom activities April 22nd debut canceled.
Will be updated "by mid- to late May."

Look @KMWoolley - I am not the only one who will just rip the "band aid" right off. :p

31 for me, & I hand in my last final project of the semester the Friday before we leave!

Good luck! I finished my big research paper last week, but now I'm on to studying for a certification exam that I take 3 days before we leave. I sure hope I get to celebrate on vacation - but if that doesn't happen, then at least I'm headed to Disney anyway!

I thought of you as I typed! :rotfl:

Good luck on your certification! What are you studying, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm working on a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics, and I'll be taking my Registered Dietitian exam and applying for a masters program and/or internship around this time next year.

I'm considering trying to get a teaching certificate and teach 5th-7th grade science while doing an online, part-time Masters program that the university I go to offers. By 2020, a Master's degree will be required to be an R.D. so I figure I should just go ahead with it. Plus, teaching 5 years in certain fields and certain districts would give me 17k student loan forgiveness, so that would be another benefit, and I'm thinking about specializing in pediatric nutrition. I'd probably have to postpone baby # 2 a little while longer, though. :(

Thanks for listening to my :offtopic: rambling. At least it isn't about nails this time. :D

Don't forget to use the discounts at the top of the webpage, it has varied each day but still decent. Right now it is 30% off!
Say whaaaaat? Did the code actually work for anyone? I tried and was a no go when I ordered.

I just assumed they would work ... here are the details for this one .............. and looks like the 030 is the problem. CafePress sets all that up so I guess it's a no go for these.

:sad2: Quite the bummer. I'll change above post so no one is confused.

Ooh, your field sounds so much more interesting than mine - contract management. (Seriously, say them out loud. ;))

Seems like you have a pretty solid plan! I can see why you wouldn't want to add baby #2 on top of all of that, though! DH and I are "one and done" and I'm still putting off getting my master's degree (but that's partially because I still don't know exactly what I want to do "when I grow up" and can't decide between an MBA and an MPA).

But I think she did a frowny face to soften the blow!

My MSW has just been collecting dust on the shelf for the last few years, but as a former family therapist, I'm available to provide assistance to help any loungers struggling with the recent ROL postponement, lol!

We're there in 21 days. We picked the first 2 weeks of May specifically because all of the crowd calendars said they'd be one of the slowest times of the year. Really hoping the crowds this week are because of Georgia and other Spring Breaks.

We're next week - MA break along with a few other states, I think. We went last year the same week and the crowds were fairly manageable - moderate. I'm a bit worried reading about the crowds this week!

We're going the last week of the month, but I'm still worrying about crowds now after seeing the EasyWDW post today. We went last year during Easter week and specifically planned to avoid that crowd level this year. I've read on the boards that other schools have a short break around the end of the month - kids have off the 25th and 26th in our MD district - and I'm hoping that doesn't drive crowds up above what I've seen predicted by TP, EasyWDW and others.

Good luck! :cheer2:

This is the first semester in which I don't have to sit any actual exams... which is both good & bad. No deadlines = super time management skills required, and planning a Disney trip is not conducive to improving those skills.

You can psychoanalyze me. What I've been wondering lately is if ROL was cancelled due in some part to my latent daddy issues and the fact that I was never good enough for my parents.

Haha, I kid, I had a good childhood and 0 daddy issues.

Yeh in GA it's spring break so I know of a few people down there now. No thanks. I'd much rather wait til the beginning of June, thank you very much.

We did June 5-8 I think last year.. Seriously loved it. Crowds were totally manageable and it didn't seem overly hot.

Now for whatever reason we're going next week and I hope crowds are not that crazy!

I went straight thru college then grad school worked full time, then 14 years later went for the doctorate while still working full time.

I'm sorry but yes, that's exactly why. Maybe if we can work through these issues, we can get ROL back on track...

I kid! Maybe we should start a group...
