Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Based on the dibbs FP+ availability... I'm thinking the first week of May may be busier than the end of April. Early May was essentially unavailable FP for Anna/Elsa, parades and fireworks while there was still a lot of availability for mid/late April. Which is unfortunate for us.

Based on how it has been going with the crowds I a worried anbout our trip in mid May (5/15-24). We go same time every year and usually manageable. Here's to hoping for the best!:tinker:

I thought of you as I typed! :rotfl:

Good luck on your certification! What are you studying, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm working on a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics, and I'll be taking my Registered Dietitian exam and applying for a masters program and/or internship around this time next year.

I'm considering trying to get a teaching certificate and teach 5th-7th grade science while doing an online, part-time Masters program that the university I go to offers. By 2020, a Master's degree will be required to be an R.D. so I figure I should just go ahead with it. Plus, teaching 5 years in certain fields and certain districts would give me 17k student loan forgiveness, so that would be another benefit, and I'm thinking about specializing in pediatric nutrition. I'd probably have to postpone baby # 2 a little while longer, though. :(

Thanks for listening to my :offtopic: rambling. At least it isn't about nails this time. :D

@Paigevon, Sounds like you have some ambitious plans! I agree that if you're going to need the Masters anyway, might as well just do it if you can.

I'm a high school math teacher and am currently completing my Masters of Math part time and online. I'll be honest, it can be challenging to find time to get everything done ... especially when work and school deadlines collide. I don't know that I would have been able to handle it as a brand new teacher ... I started out teaching in Grade 7 and those first few years were intense enough!

Good luck and best wishes whatever you decide!

Good morning Loungers!
This morning's hootenanny brought to you by Emo-Eponine...

"On my own, I've read and watched and waited
For some news that's scant and so elusive.
When the Riiiivers of Light will fin'ly open,
And I can book a fastpass, or perhaps a dining package.

In the blogs, the comments are so plentiful.
Their remarks with witty candor showing,
how us loungers grow tired of simply asking...
when and where and how and just release the schedule pleeeease!!!

And I knoooow it's only a few daaaays, till we reach 600 pages.
How our hooooootenanny grows each passing daaaay,
while we wait, an' commiserate.

The Riiiivers of Light will finally open,
and on that night will be some fierce rejoicin'
And from Maggie we'll hear some helpful news then.
I just can't wait, my vacay is so sooooooooooon!

I just heard... it's delayed.... till May.
So glad I'm lounging heeeere!"

You are my new hero. This is beyond brilliant. I can't wait to sing this with DD in the morning!

Booked our AK FP+ this morning for 5/8. Thank you all for moving your FP+ to later, we snagged 4 FP+ for 9am! So now I am aiming for us to be there around 8:30am so we can move in when the rope drops. I hope the crowds won't be bad once we get off so we can go ride again. Or we'll go standby first depending on when we'll get to the ride and how long the queue already is and use FP+ right after. After all we will have till 10am to use those fastpasses.

Thank you! You are right. I am hoping that I will be able to take a single class at a time for the Masters program at first while I adjusted to becoming a teacher, but I definitely need to speak with (someone?) and see if that is even an option. Good luck to you as well, I hope both are going well for you!

Friends of the Lounge, Disney might have called RoL off but that won't stop me!

On 4/22 at sunset, catch me floating around Discovery River.
I'm putting on my own version of RoL with the following items:
super soaker, pool raft, strobe light, glow in the dark body paint, and glow sticks.

THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!

We will be in AK on the 22nd. I'll be eagerly awaiting your show!

Well remember there's no availability at all for fireworks because they were discontinued. That said, I agree with you about first week of May based on the A&E and 7DWY availability when I did my FPs. It was harder to get for me May this year than spring break last year. And I've noticed what seems like more than a normal number of people here going that week. I'm definitely a little worried that the 5-6 on the crowd calendars is off.

That's when I am going. It cant be as bad as Spring break was last year. At least that is what I am hoping

Maybe, but see my above comment. I went spring break last year and as long as crowds are the same or less, I'm ok with it but I'm fearing it's going to be worse at MK.

Getting back to yesterday's nail topic. I had a rather heavy object hit my nail yesterday. I have gel overlay (similar to acrylic) anyway the overlay came off. Other than losing it my finger is fine and my nail seems to be every bit as strong as before I had them done. Luckily today is fill day so no extra charge for the repair. Come to think of it the last time I needed a repair I wasn't charged and it was just a repair. That was 4 years ago or so. I love my tech

Which post? Is it on his page? I see a post from yesterday but not today. @beesly

Check out his Facebook page - he posted a picture yesterday of the crowd at MK on Wednesday.

That late April A&E availability just happened. Before yesterday A&E was also completely unavailable at the end of April and now there are nighttime slots open. I know Disney generally doesn't "hold back" FPs, and makes them all available all at once, but I'm nervous that they might have added some in anticipation of larger-than-expected crowds. But then that wouldn't make sense since it's just one attraction. Unless a huge group just canceled their trip and had A&E booked every night? I don't get it.

I was checking wait times yesterday and was :confused::confused: when I saw Space Mountain had a wait time of 150 minutes around 1pm or so. That picture clearly explains *that*. Josh was just a "tad bit" off with a level 5 and MK as the most recommended park. At about the same time, wait time for the safari at AK was 50 minutes - and that was the least recommended park.

I haven't checked but were MK hours extended on those dates maybe since you mentioned nighttime slots? That would have opened spaces.

Edit: I checked on the Dibb and 7DMT also has nighttime availability für the end of April added. It's all green and bookable for late (I checked on MDE). I assume park hours were extended??

I noticed the 7DMT availability but couldn't remember if those weeks had previously been unavailable. Park hours for the last week of April haven't changed, but I don't know about the week prior to that. Strange...

ETA: TP was off on their prediction for MK on Wednesday, too - they predicted 5/10 and actual was a 10/10. For Thursday, they predicted 6/10 and saw 10/10 again.

I noticed this too for our trip week 4/18-24... all of a sudden there was 7DMT late night availability, and I thought they had extended hours... but no, the hours are the same. The crowd levels this week have me very scared.

Nothing new around the HUB
They released the weekly events report and as expected the Destination Sales event for travel agents has been cancelled (that was on April 19th) also the Awaken Summer event for bloggers and media will include a sneak peek of RoL concept, not sure what that means

OK, enough fine tuning and tinkering - the schedule is set (for now).
I'm pretty happy with the fact that all Dining is new for DW and only Tusker House is a repeat for me (but only for Breakfast).
No Park Hopping this time, so hopefully that means no 10 miles a day pace...

4/22 Fly in late at night, cheap hotel near airport
4/23 HS - Club Villain at 9pm (our Anniversary)
4/24 MK - the Wave
4/25 EPCOT - Tutto Italia
4/26 AK - Tusker House (dinner)
4/27 MK - Whispering Canyon
4/28 EPCOT - California Grill @9:30
4/29 HS - Shutters at Old Port Royale
4/30 MK and fly home
I'll keep an eye out for some awesome people wearing the pins and shirts.
I think it's time to get excitied...:banana::banana::banana:
