Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I'm just over the county line in Oakland - HI!! And hopefully we won't float away, lol!

We moved south from Chicago - everything here is closed before I hit 'really cold' ;) I'm with you - below 0 but they close school if it's in the 20s w/ a wind chill out here, lol! I've used my winter coat about 3x in 10 yrs...

Seems to be a lot of us. I'm in Arlington. It seems the rain has stopped....for now.

You all have been so entertaining, I can't even begin to tell you!!! I've tuned in here and there since the very beginning, but my trip is not until June, so didn't feel the pressure and stress of you April and May peeps. Therefore I never felt the need to add anything.....but now that it's looking promising, like there's actually a light at the end of the tunnel (fingers and toes crossed) I'm chiming in! :)

So close....6/7! But you already knew that from my PTR. :)

That's my date for AK as well!!! We've actually got June 8th planned for morning at AK, but June 7th for evening there.

I emailed a few days ago to voice my complaints about changing EMH at the last minute, the additional nighttime parties and my worries that would make MK very crowded on a night when I had planned to go and also about the lack of updated hours or ROL info.

I was assured that there would not be many tickets sold for the night events at all. She said it would be nowhere near the capacity of the Halloween and Christmas parties. The bad thing is that I just don't trust Disney phone people, even the guest service ones. She assured me that I shouldn't be able to notice any more additional people than usual for the night that I am supposed to be at MK that is also an evening hour night.

She said that ROL was still supposed to open the 22nd, but it might be more of a soft opening. She wasn't sure if there would be fastpass or dinner packages available.

About the changed early magic hour, she just said that Disney schedules sometimes change due to business reasons (whatever that is, not sure why they needed to flip flop the days of early magic hours from MK to Epcot 3 weeks before the date).

If the role of guest service agents are to make the guest feel heard she didn't really do her job. I don't really feel like Disney cares about my input (she could have at least pretended like they do).

Oh well, hopefully if they get enough complaints about schedule changes it''ll finally mean something. Though probably not.

Here in GA, we don't even have spring really...just winter...then summer...lol

I always joke that here in the FL panhandle we have 3 seasons: Spring Breakers; Summer Tourists; and Snowbirds!!

But, I totally agree, we don't really have a spring or fall. It seems like it goes straight from winter to summer to winter.

Thanks for the tip! I've been looking for one that will charge 3 devices. Does it work on both apple and Samsung products?

I need to clarify that what I meant is that it charged at least 3 phones on one overnight charge. There are not 3 ports to charge 3 things at the sam time. Yes it charges anything with a usb on the power end. I charge my iPhone and my samsung tablet with this power pack.

Sorry if this was already addressed but I just noticed after the write up on Tiffins on the DPB it said "Up next - the menu" or something to that effect.

When do they consider "up next" I wonder? A week? A month? I'm dying to see that menu...lol

Whoa, actual news!!!!!!

According to an internal document floating around, Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will make its very first performance on April 6th.

The April 6th showing will be for Animal Kingdom cast only. All other Walt Disney World cast members will have access to previews of the show on April 8th, 9th, 12th, and 13th.

There is some sort of “premium” annual pass holder and Disney Vacation Club member preview event being held on April 15th which will hold 4,000 guests, but we expect this to have an added fee (should be announced soon). Two normal AP and DVC preview nights are scheduled right after that for April 16th and 17th.

A press event premiere of the show will be held on April 19th and the show will of course open on April 22nd to all guests.

According to the document, showtimes once the show debuts will be at 8:30PM and 9:45PM nightly.

Wow! So they cancelled the public preview parties to make them AP and DVC parties? Interesting! I wish we were going to be there a few days sooner!
