Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Yep it is no longer showing up on the Disney web site. I found this which leads me to thinking it was an opps and Disney did not mean to let any info on it leak out just quite yet. Wonder if it was the screen shot that was shared my thread lol!!!
“Disney Early Morning Magic” event details leaked

Walt Disney World will be offering a new “Disney Early Morning Magic” event at the Magic Kingdom. Rumors of the new package popped up yesterday after a screenshot of a partial listing on My Disney Experience hit the internet, but nothing else was known. Today, details are starting to leak out.
Well, the evening hours were also let out via a leak. And forced Disney to announce early. It was said then that additional things were going to originally be part of the announcement and since the evening event was leaked, they announced it but not the others. I suspect the morning event was also going to be released along with the evening. For now they decided to pull back the morning but let the evening stand. Who knows what else will come out once it's all released.

One thing I am certain won't happen, RoL will not be offered as a paid event only. They won't put on the show only to those who pay for evening hours. (Yes, people have actually posted this)

I believe you are right. I am just hoping info comes out soon so we can finalize our plans. As much as Disney has leaked unintentionally they are holding a very stiff lip about ROL.

That's for sure.

I did email them today to inquire about hours. I told them that we had a trip planned in May and seeing how they have announced RoL for 4/22 I was curious why the hours were not updated since it was impossible for the current hours to be correct. I got a response but it didn't give any info. They just said that sorry, they weren't given any new hours yet and to keep checking back. My thought was thanks for nothing

I'm hoping they release something soon. I am not sure where to make dinner reservations until I know if we are going to be at AK later. We have only 2 days and I want to squeeze in as much as possible. This would be a good one!

The speculation is that there will be a lot less tickets sold so a lot less people. But who truly knows until it happens. I wouldn't do it, though.
if they can't give a simple answer as to how many people will be allowed into the early/late hours paid events, I wouldn't give them my money. For all the other special ticketed events, such as MVMCP, I had heard at one time there were only a limited amount sold. From what I was reading last year, it's becoming increasingly more and more crowded. I don't think it's unreasonable, when spending the extra money Disney is charging, to know how many tickets will be sold.

I guess they're waiting until they can be 100% sure that RoL will be up and running by 4/22 before updating the hours and show times. There has to be a lot of stress on those working on it currently. I hope, for everyone's sanity, that a break through happens soon! I hope that those that wanted to be with family this weekend weren't stuck testing RoL. They will likely be even happier than we are when everything is good to go and information can be released!

The hours are what's really bothering me! We are going in mid-May and feel like are hands are tied when it comes to our AK plans and Fastpass+ choices.

Many of us, too. :) We're arriving 4/29!

*hug* And this is why we have a reputation as a therapy thread.

ETA:
Some of the "regulars" here were even arriving the week of the ill-fated preview parties that were canceled and have given up hope of seeing RoL on their trip. Others even have an AK day of 4/22 and have no clue what to expect. :scared:

I have a feeling we are not going to see anything until very close to April 22nd. I think everyone is in the same boat and have final plans on hold but have adjusted their schedule with the late hours in mind. We have a plan A as well as a Plan B. I just need to know 2 day in advance so I can cancel any unneeded ADR;s

I agree @ArielSRL - our dates are June too and I haven't seen any late hours posted either. I expect the hours will change especially since they have days in April and May where the MK is open until 11pm or midnight and June is definitely busier than those months. Also, can't remember the last time I saw a park opening at 10am, so not sure where the one for HS came from. Did you get these hours from the Disney website or another one that was projecting park hours?

Those dates were from Disney Website tonight. I thought I got the original hours from Disney's website as well. I may have gotten them from touring plans, but I thought I verified it with Disney before I booked my dining.

Official hours on the Disney website are usually only around a bit more than 180 days out. The TA calendar has them a little further out, but not by much. So if you made your plans before that, the hours were probably based on last year.

When I'm planning a trip, I usually look at the previous year to get an idea of what hours were then, as often, they are similar, but with all the new stuff coming along now, I think all bets are off...heck, they are still changing things for April, (and NOT changing what we really need them to!). LOL

One would have thought they were 100% sure of the date before they announced the date

Wasn't it about a hundred pages or so ago that a phone CM told someone the FPs and dining packages would be released 4/22 and everyone was like, 'Oh no, that CM was just confused because that's the show opening.'

Confused ... or clairvoyant? :teleport:

Yes, but I've read somewhere (probably here) by someone (lol) that 4/22 could have been picked because of it's momentous standing as Earth Day and anniversary of AK, instead of "Okay we should definitely have it up and running with the kinks figured out by (date) so let's open for public a few days later, so opening date will be <>." AKA perhaps it was an ambitious decision made by someone who wasn't hands-on working on the show, and now those trying to get it ready in time and cursing the decision maker?

I'm really tired so I hope that rambling^ is at least somewhat comprehensible.
