Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

All makes sense! But seems to me that they should AT LEAST know this by now!!!

But if just one element (like Tiffins) is not 100% certain, they can't release anything. Imagine booking everyone/everything for ROL for April 22nd and Tiffins is delayed an extra day or two? How would you accommodate all those (disgruntled) people with DDRs expecting to see the new restaurant and have passes to ROL?

I'm sure RoL will be done by April 22nd, I'm guessing they just want to be sure, no ladies heels sticking to the wet cement and all....
The dining packages and fps might be delayed just to give everyone an equal chance to see it in the first couple of weeks, this is just my theory.
CM's are stilled blocked out from AK starting April 19th through the end of the month, no block out dates for May

Guys I found out how we can get our ROL passes...Adventures by Disney DW & Central FL trip. Just a few things to be prepared for: only on certain days and cost is $4939 per adult.
There was actually a lot about that Adventure By Disney offering that was very tempting. It's way more than admission to the park. The Cape Canaveral part was really the most tempting. I don't see us doing it, don't get me wrong. But it was a very attractive offer

My theory too. Saying those are delayed is a far cry from saying the entire event is delayed.

I gotta say I am SO EXCITED to go to Aulani and enjoy the Disney service and touch that I know and love.. without the headache of scheduling everything 180 days in advance. :crazy2: Except a few dining reservations.

Sounds wonderful! You're going to have a wonderful time - am I reading correctly will it be your honeymoon?

Is it too late to change my April trip to Aulani? Oh that DPB does make it look intriguing!
The part I can't wrap my head around about Aulani is they built it right by where I used to live. That area was nothing but sugar cane then. It's hard for me to imagine they've turned it in to this lush resort area. One day we'll make the trek just to satisfy my curiosity.

Okay, I have some serious Easter Bunny stuff to do today since my kids don't have school tomorrow and I just cannot stop reading about Morning Hootenanny! Must. Stop.

:surfweb:

I love that the "Easter Bunny" still visits you, @Vernie822 !

I have 4 younger siblings (although the baby is 16.. so not that young!), so the bunny still hides our baskets every year :rotfl:

We're 35 days out. The kids have been excitedly crossing out dates on our countdown calendar and hitting the 5 week point today was a fun milestone. We have 4 kids and 6 park days out of our 14 nights at WBC. Our dates in the parks are set and we have no plans to change them.

We are a get there at Rope Drop (or shortly there after) and stay until 9 or 10 (or Wishes) kind of family so if ROL is a go and we can get FPs for our AK day then we will stay and enjoy the show. If not, we will still stay around until after dark, use that FP for the night Safari and head out when we feel like it. We've decided to not let the "not knowing" change anything.

One of the MK After Hours things is happening on our 5th park day (2nd MK day) which was also the night we planned to see Wishes, etc. If it sounds like 7 to 10 pm is going to be extra busy because of After Hours then we'll switch Wishes to our last park day (3rd MK day) and maybe call it an early night instead.

The moral of our story ... we're going with flow.

P.S. This will be our 3rd WDW trip.

1st trip was in Spring 2011 with our then only child, DD3. We bought 3 day tickets when we got there. Did MK, AK, MK. Didn't plan a thing. Figured out the pulling FP tickets thing pretty quickly. Had a blast.

2nd trip was in Spring 2014 and we had jumped from 1 daughter to 4 daughters (DD6, DD4, DD4, DD2). I researched and planned for that trip for months ahead during the FP+ debates, sky is falling, it will ruin everything era. We had a blast.

3rd trip in 35 days. The kids are now DD8, DD6, DD6 and DD4. I've been planning and researching and reading the Dis and the other sites again for months. This time, it's the Disney costs too much, prices going up, upcharge for everything, no confirmation for anything for ROL, everything is closed at HS, Disney is ruined, the sky is still falling era!!! We "plan" to have a blast (fingers crossed, fingers crossed, fingers crossed).

Same here. I'm not changing around our park days.
I'm continuing to watch for announcements closely just in case there is any way I can get in to something prior to 4/22 so I can take my Mom to see it. The only thing that RoL may do to our trip is cause us to drop CV. If the only time I can get in to see it is 4/16 I have decided RoL will take precedent over CV
Otherwise, I know I'll catch it later. DH and I are back in May and we'll hopefully see it then. And we'll be back in July, Oct and probably Dec. Surely on one of those trips we'll get it in.

We did the Easter eggs that you use old ties and dye them. They turned out so pretty! You cut up old ties, wrap them around the egg and tie them with twine then wrap the batting from inside the tie around that. Boil them with 1/4 cup vinegar and you have some pretty and unique designs. We got the ties from Goodwill. They have to be 100% silk.

I am so happy you are taking this attitude. I am here sitting on my computer watching a whole lot of people have a cow about the new special ticketed events and thinking "You don't need that to have a good time" seriously
I don't think there will be an increase in crowds because of the night time ticketed price,
have a great time.
I am now thinking that the happiest Disney guest will be the one going without knowing anything about the place, because they will go with the flow and experience whatever they will be able to experience.

That sounds so cute, @Mambo Junkie ! My kids always do their egg decorating with their "Mimi", maybe we will try this!

:offtopic: - Holiday Edition...

The Easter Bunny only puts a couple of little things in the basket here (new book and such), however the Bunny is always excited when she looks in Santa's Secret Stash of Leftovers and finds things totally forgotten and perfect! Yay! :daisy:

If I was still THAT uncertain about a restaurant opening at this stage (almost shocking to me given how much experience they have doing this), I would release packages for Tusker House and a quick service option now. Then if Tiffins goes on line, release those when they do.

And I would certainly expect them to know 1) how many shows per night and 2) what times those shows will run through at least Apr-May! Pretty sure we can all look up sunset times online and know those ahead of time... I've already added that row to my spreadsheet... ;)

The only change that I was fine with was adding that extra day for MNSSHP on our arrival day (we weren't going into the park until around Tuesday of our Friday to Sunday trip) and that's well-worth the change to me (especially since Disney is trying to pull the whole "let's charge $69 for breakfast and three rides" thing soon apparently; seriously!?). I really wanted that calm surprise for Freddy when we went to MK for the first time, however, MNSSHP is way too good to pass up and I know he'll appreciate it. That and the second party is the 8th and we're going to be at Spirit of Aloha, so, nope.

I've come to the conclusion that folks here at the Dis are not by any means the avg Disney guest. And I've also come to the conclusion here that for many here at The Dis, Disney can do nothing right and they are never going to be happy. I don't get why they want to spend their money with a company who has business practices they hate so much but hey, whatever floats their boat. I sometimes think they do it just to be able to complain about something.

I've learned a long time ago which posters are haters and I just skim over their posts.
