We're 35 days out. The kids have been excitedly crossing out dates on our countdown calendar and hitting the 5 week point today was a fun milestone. We have 4 kids and 6 park days out of our 14 nights at WBC. Our dates in the parks are set and we have no plans to change them.
We are a get there at Rope Drop (or shortly there after) and stay until 9 or 10 (or Wishes) kind of family so if ROL is a go and we can get FPs for our AK day then we will stay and enjoy the show. If not, we will still stay around until after dark, use that FP for the night Safari and head out when we feel like it. We've decided to not let the "not knowing" change anything.
One of the MK After Hours things is happening on our 5th park day (2nd MK day) which was also the night we planned to see Wishes, etc. If it sounds like 7 to 10 pm is going to be extra busy because of After Hours then we'll switch Wishes to our last park day (3rd MK day) and maybe call it an early night instead.
The moral of our story ... we're going with flow.
P.S. This will be our 3rd WDW trip.
1st trip was in Spring 2011 with our then only child, DD3. We bought 3 day tickets when we got there. Did MK, AK, MK. Didn't plan a thing. Figured out the pulling FP tickets thing pretty quickly. Had a blast.
2nd trip was in Spring 2014 and we had jumped from 1 daughter to 4 daughters (DD6, DD4, DD4, DD2). I researched and planned for that trip for months ahead during the FP+ debates, sky is falling, it will ruin everything era. We had a blast.
3rd trip in 35 days. The kids are now DD8, DD6, DD6 and DD4. I've been planning and researching and reading the Dis and the other sites again for months. This time, it's the Disney costs too much, prices going up, upcharge for everything, no confirmation for anything for ROL, everything is closed at HS, Disney is ruined, the sky is still falling era!!! We "plan" to have a blast (fingers crossed, fingers crossed, fingers crossed).
