Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Oh, hopefully they'll update ALL the hours, including posting the initial October hours (which ought to have posted today, imo). Thanks for sharing!

October hours are at least a full week "late" in comparison to the average monthly posting date.

Sadly, there have been several months over the past year when the initial posting was late... sometimes several weeks late.

Robo, those October hours posted on The Dibb yesterday - do you happen to know if they are accurate?

Ok, yesterday I saw some posts on here about September and people saying they wish they were going. I tried to find it but is something going on in September? I'm going for a week then. Wasn't necessarily planning on going to WDW but it's pretty wide open.

ROBO! Quoting myself here and wondering if you have a good aerial view shot or map of the lake area that would show any possible viewing areas from the pathways. I am not really seeing or remembering any. I've always felt the pathways were quite narrow in comparison to Epcot for Illuminations, and set back a bit from the water with trees and shrubs by the water. I'm wondering if the reality is: ADR pkg, FP+ or don't bother. We are going to have 2 little ones with us this trip, so cramming onto a narrow path with poor views doesnt sound appealing!
For the life of me I cannot think of any pathways around the lake (river) that provide unobstructed views. The bridge would be an awesome vantage point, but I cannot believe they will allow people to stand on the bridge - that area is already going to be congested enough funneling all the ROL watchers into and out of the seating area. Where do people think you are going to be able to stand and watch the show from?

Yes, June hours were extremely late. I think they posted almost at the end of November and for about 4 or 5 days they only released a day at a time. Our 180 days was like Dec 7 so it was extremely annoying. The month before, the hours were posted mid month as usual.

Like you I know of no place outside the seating area that will have a view of the entire show. With the water screens, dancers, and floats you will likely need to be looking straight on and that should mean from the seated area
So even if you could see the performance area from the pathways it is bound to be obstructed in some way

Another day --- nothing !! Did anyone get Maggie today ?--- by looks of this, the constant calls are driving her mad. I would expect her to ask for a transfer ---

I was trying to find the recent aerial photos that were posted to rteetz's NEWS thread, but only found the land based ones. Google Earth hasn't updated since the construction, but looking at even the official map on the Disney site, you can see that the pathways are set back behind landscaping - not open like EPCOT.

the only clear view of the lake would be the bridge that connects Discovery Island with Dinoland, it would be a side view of the area and I'm sure CM will keep this area open, no standing on the side...the other, like many have said would be the Flame Tree gardens eating area, but you would get a back view of the show and I'm still thinking Disney will close this restaurant and seating areas before the first show is on.
Around the walkway from Asia to Expedition Everest you can see the lake but there are trees in the way and again a side view.
