Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

RoL hasn't quite crossed over to the SWW insanity - yet. Just hoping the morning it is released doesn't turn out how it did last year.:rolleyes1 Loooong waits, and many shut out within hours. If it wasn't for thread yuellin does (akin to this one) i'd have been X out of luck for my package bookings.

in a way we should be very happy indeed the blog will likely follow suit & NOT announce the release dates for this sort of booking in a timely fashion, otherwise we'd have no advantage at all.

I won't lie....the longer this anticipation builds up, the more I'm starting to get nervous that the end result of the show (if I ever do see it) will leave me with the same thoughts as the end of the anticipated live chat. Anyone else have that in the back of their head?

Yes. We are planning to be at AK on our last day of the trip with ROL as the last Disney event (assuming we can get in). I worry about it being a let down but I plan to check the reviews and will adjust our May schedule if needed.

Nope. I fully anticipate this show to be my new favorite. I love ak and this show sounds fantastic. Which is why I'm so eager to get into that preview.

I wrote a comment to the blog. I bet the blog people/ Disney are laughing at this. Did you see the one guy's comments, obv. not from this group

As frustrating as it is to not know all the information in advance regarding this show, it might be fun just to go early and see what you see. Plan your meal “early” the day you visit AK, and arrive in the viewing area around the lake to grab a great seat “early.” Planning out every little thing in advance is great (from an efficiency standpoint), but it might be fun just to WAIT and SEE. No matter how much you complain, Disney is going to release information on their timetable, not yours so relax and enjoy your trip away from reality….that’s what Walt Disney World is all about. In a culture of NOW, NOW, NOW…just be patience. It will all work out in the end.

I saw someone post that they could get an alert when the DPB posted something. HOW DO I DO THIS?! I feel like I am ignoring my poor 5 month old to do nothing but watch updates on this damn thing!
it was probably me
First, I have an Android. No idea if iPhone can do it or not
Second, it is a setting in the twitter app on my phone, no idea if others have the same app and settings or not
But, I just go in to the notification for each feed I want notification from and turn it on

I agree with him. I only plan my main dining and fast passes. I don't like the idea of having everything planned and having to rush to make sure I keep with my " plan "

Sometimes I wanna walk where I feel like walking, and do what I feel like doing lol.

I personally don't even think they with do ROL with fast passes for the first few months.

You can grab a viewing area around the lake, but it's not going to be that great. I confess I am an uber planner and all my last 10 trips to Disney have worked out, each one more magical than the other. I plan out dining and fastpasses, get there at rope drop stay through closing, everything I do in between ADRS and fastpass times is up for grabs. I've never felt rushed and have done more than the average park goer. Sometimes I go to three parks in one day---

At least we have each other

Btw, is it just me, or are there more gifs/pics in this thread now? 8-)

I had the same exact thought when I read that. 5,000 seat capacity. "3" shows that we unofficially know of. Average crowds 30,000. Media. Bloggers. People getting priority seats over paying customers. We all know it's going to happen. For those of us that have already planned our entire trip because we're 36 days or less out, we can't just change around days now or we'll have to cancel ADRs or swap out FPs. I have 1 chance at this for my trip, and knowing before I go that I'm all set and have a reserved seat will be EVERYTHING. I don't want to stress out while in Disney worrying without a FP if I'll even get to see this trip, even though my sister and I have been planning for MONTHS UPON MONTHS. We have breakfast before the park opens. We have an early dinner so we can enjoy the late night activities. Either way, we will be in the park but whether or not we can see this show could depend on whether or not Disney gets their act together, and SOON.

Besides, we've only gotten to the rabid "NOW NOW NOW" crowd because we're closing in on one month for this show's scheduled opening date, and so far we have NOTHING. No official word on how many shows there are per night. No official word on park hours. No word on FPs, dining packages, nada. I think we've been patient for a while now and if we are past the point of being too impatient, it's because we've been pushed to this point.

I can't help but liken it to how I had built up BOG and 7DMT so high like this and then was underwhelmed with them.

I HOPE I am wrong about ROL doing that to me...

I can certainly agree with taking it slow and not having everything planned out. However, I reeeeeeally want to see this show and April 22 is my last day. So that leaves frantic searching for the mythical preview parties my only option.

The AK Park at Night page has April 22nd all over it. So even if ROL is not ready I would think park hours would still be extended from there forward. Given that you would think they could at least adjust the park hours for April and May.

I admit that it is most likely to our advantage to have the packages go live before it is on the blog.

Totally agree. My animal kingdom day is all set, my dining is open for Tiffins ROL package or Tusker House. We are NOW NOW NOW because of Disney. They want us to plan 180 days in advance. I find planning for Disneyland much more relaxing, I cant even book dining until 60 days before my trip. By then schedules are released. Disney keeps teasing us, but it's not fair to us who want to complete planning. The same thing is going on for me with Star Wars Fireworks in July for my Hollywood Studios day and the uncertainty of the time and if... they are going to offer a dessert party. I booked a Fantasmic meal but I may have to change that around at the last minute to see the fireworks.

Wow, that's a wake up call. As excited as I am to see this I may have to wait until September. If you have that many people trying to get into that few seats. The whole park is going to be miserable to get around. Hmmm..
