I read on another board a comment about "rumored changes to the Dining Plan". I came here and saw the whole debate about tips. Is that the only rumored change, or are there others?
There were rumors Disney was considering re-doing the premium plans. Take out some of the extras so the cost could be reduced. That would allow guests to have 3 TS meals per day with no extra charge/deductions for signature meals.
Obviously most guests won't "max out" that plan and I'd hope it would be priced accordingly.
edited to say this rumor is based on posters that started threads in which they listed the questions that were asked by Disney in a survey.
I wish they would do something like that. We went in 1997 and 2000 on the silver plan(?) which allowed for 3 TS meals per day. We were stuffed, but it was great to get out of the heat in the middle of the day and evening!
I thought it was more like market research. The kind of standardized surveys you always say companies use.
We don't know what changes may be made to the existing DDP, although a price increase via deletion of tips seems likely. Cutting back the existing plan while offering an "upgraded" plan may make sense.
canwegosoon--Guests aren't required to "max out" a plan. The question isn't if you'll have 3 TS meals/day, I expect most guests won't. The question is if the plan is priced in such a way that you'll derive value based on the number of meals you normally consume.

I heard that there was going to be "mandatory slapping of the knuckles with a ruler" if you did not clean your entire plate. Additionally, they are to give 5% discounts to those guests who wash their own plates/cups/utensils after meal was completed.
Ahhhh....but the REAL question is do I have to pay a tip on the full value or on the 5% discounted value.
Or perhaps, since I'll be doing dishes, that makes me part of the staff, so the server will have to tip ME a portion of their tips? But would that inclue a portion of the tip I leave?
Oh my....this just gets more complicated doesn't it.
Now can I get that 5% discount on the resort mug and if I get that discount can I just pay it back at my next visit so that I can re-use my resort mug for the length of my life, rather than the length of my stay?
(It's only funny because so many RUMORS have been discussed already and Disney is just sitting in their offices at us....okay, maybe they aren't laughing, but it IS rumors in terms of how contracts will affect DDP)
