Rumor:Space Mountain closed Jan/06

Does anyone know if there is any truth to this rumour? I read it somewhere on this board, not sure where. .
I read it was closed for refurbishment during the month of January. Does anyone have any info on this?

Rehab dates for Space Mountain have not been released yet, BUT... in the past that is usually when they take it down for their annual rehab. It is usually a week or 2 in January.

Splash Mountain is scheduled for a rehab Jan 23-27. Perhaps that's what the rumor is based on.

just a quick space mountain story...my parents had taken us as kids to FL every year to visit relatives. every year i would beg my dad to take me to MK to go on space mtn. (i was always too small to go on it before) so each year i was tall enough to ride it was CLOSED!!!!!! we always went between xmas and jan 6th. so apparently it is always closed at that time. (but yes, i did finally get to ride on it...although it wasn't until i was 22!)

First I found out Test Track would be closed , then Buzz , then Roaring Forks , and NOW Space Mountain ? I can't handle any more disappointment - I'll have to change my dates!

I doubt that WDW would close both Buzz and Space Mtn at the same time, but if they do, i will really be upset. We're going Jan 16-21 and were disappointed with Buzz being closed but at least Space would be open. If Space is also closed, then why go to Tomorrowland..............

I agree, cause don't forget the rumour is for Splash Mountain too Jan 23-27. I hope they don't take that much away from us Jan visitors.

I have I-Tunes it was free .

Then you click on PODS and do a search of DISNEY and it comes up with a bunch ( MOST FREE ) you subcribe and they update every once in awhile .

Seems like a hard time of year to go to Disney. Oh well, DH and I will do what we can.

Did you mean SPLASH or SPACE mountain? The title says one and the message says the other! They aren't BOTH closed are they?

For all these big attractions being closed around the same time, you'd think I would haven gotten some great deal. Fat chance.

No way they would close both at the same time. We're all aware (and most understanding) that they close big attractions for refurbs during the off-season, but they will NEVER close both mountains at the same time. That would be unfair.

I think you've hit on the source of the confusion. SPLASH Mountain is scheduled for rehab for a few days at the end of January. Someone probably misread that, starting the rumor about that other "mountain" attraction being closed as well.
