Rumor: PUSH Going Away - UPDATE in Post #32! Another update in Post #36

:eek::sad2::sad2::sad2:

With the recent PUSH merchandise that was unveiled, this has me surprised and now truly concerned about Figment (who also had new merch recently).

I'm making a prediction that the new WDW trash can salt and pepper shakers will be released this week. Just watch.

That definitely looks like a notice from the Hub.

I like Q5 - apparently they realized they lied.

It isn't so much that PUSH is gone...I could have accepted that (as much as I dislike it), but I'm more upset that Disney lied about it the day before.

The "contract" thing has me puzzled. If it was for the performer, I'd expect that they had more than one, and could have trained others. If it was for PUSH, then it wasn't a creation of WDI? Or they are using it as an excuse...

It's possible, considering the other recent entertainment cuts we've been hearing about. But it also seems like a thousand different 'facts' and 'rumors' are being thrown around with this one, so there's not a lot of solid evidence on what to believe re: WHY there was a rumor or WHY Push was canned.

I do not think Disney would have CM's talking about contract employees vs CM's. That makes no sense. Talk about spoiling the magic. Push is on an extended leave for refurbishment. I do not hear CM's saying that Spectromagic's last performence was on x-date and the equipment was old and crapped out.

I'm right there with you, Kathy.

Orlando reporter Jason Garcia talked to Disney and according to him PUSH isn't going anywhere!

The update in the article says that PUSH is being retired permanently. Sorry to see this character go. I have a lot of great memories with my son and this character. He loved PUSH when he was little. We had to go back and see him every hour on the hour.

Unreal. Disney says he is coming back and now he is retired permanently.

Looks like we have a liar on our hands. I really don't understand their thought process on this. Sounds like a PR Nightmare for Disney. Maybe they hired someone from SeaWorld to help them.

In times of pain comes great comedy. Saw this posted on Twitter, pretty funny:

Jason Garcia is tweeting updates...apparently, this IS a contractual issue between Disney and the inventor/co-owner of PUSH. He believes that Disney thought it likely that it would be resolved before the contract lapsed on the weekend, but it did not.

From his tweets:
Inventor and co-owner of PUSH says contract with Disney lapsed over concerns about intellectual property rights to the character.

Said Disney changed the language from earlier contracts & there was "some ambiguity to the verbiage as to what they owned and what I owned."

That said, he also says he has sent a revised version of the contract back to Disney today and is awaiting a response.

Looks like there may still be hope, but it also sounds like from Disney's side PUSH is done.

Still...Disney claimed there were "nothing" to the rumors, when obviously the deal wasn't done.

As for the rumors about him being stripped down for parts, it seems VERY unlikely.
