Rumor? Price hike for regular tickets imminent?

i think its gonna be a Weekday and weekend price next... and a Holiday price too.
I have no doubt that tiered (or surge) pricing is in the works. It's not a matter of IF, it's a matter of when. The bigger question will be how costly will those "gold-level" tickets be?

Looks like ticket prices didn't change overnight. The Disney website still shows the same prices.

I've already booked my package for Dec. 27, 2016-Jan. 2, 2017. The dates are not negotiable (school orchestra trip) and the prices then are never discounted.
Unless I'm missing something, I see no downside to booking now. The price is locked in, it's fully refundable through most of next year, and the balance is not due until 30 days before check-in. This gives me plenty of time to pay using various savings methods.

Is Disney going to price out most people? I know things go up in price, but paychecks sure don't. It seems like they go up way to often.

As long as people are willing to pay they will increase prices. The only way to stop it is when people in mass quit buying.

I own DVC. Got it when price was 65 per point. Enough points to 3 weeks. Used to eat there almost every day. Now only about 2-3 times. Last time I had to buy a sweat shirt (zip up) for $40 because it got cold in the park. It was flimsy too. Las week I bought a heavier one at Costco for $20. Teach me not to forget one next time I go down.

We are eating more in and finding better quality food off site. The bonus, the prices are cheaper. I had to laugh when someone said the food and prices were better at Golden Corral. Have to take his word for it. Been years since I've been in one.

We don't own DVC, we have only been to WDW once and unfortunately we are already priced out. They certainly don't make things like they used to. I can't comment on the food either.

I bought our tickets to hedge my bets last week even though we don't travel until Easter 2016. Because we are travelling at Easter I decided I didn't want to wait for tiered tickets before I bought.

They won't price us out it is still my favourite place to unwind but we will increase the time between trips so the cost per year remains constant ish.

The deeper discounts will come back again at some point once the economy peaks and starts it's next slide into recession whenever that is.

While I'm not happy about it, I believe tiered ticket prices are coming soon after the change to APs. If I had plans to go next Easter or Christmas, I would buy tickets now. That is just me.

Wow, I could have written your post, except for the school orchestra trip part. I have my package booked next year for the same dates that you have. This is the first time that I am taking advantage of the balance not being due until 30 days before check in so that I can use discounted Disney gift cards purchased from Target. But I could have sworn that I read somewhere when I made my deposit that prices were subject to change until your balance was paid in full. Have you (or anyone here) ever had a package that was not paid off that was subjected to or saved from a price increase?

Hmmm, I had not heard that and my TA did not mention it. I'll have to ask her what she thinks.

If the widely anticipated "tiered pricing" does come to pass, will it have any effect on unused tickets already purchased? Will those be considered "value season only" or whatever the cheapest tier ends up being called?

We got in at $70 per point and feel the same exact way. We either eat in or go off site also. The food on property isn't that good for the premium they are charging. Yes it's convenient but they make it a budget buster for us.

We have also reaching the tipping point on how many days we will do parks. No longer are we doing length of stay because of costs. Them raising wont stop me from going but absolutely will cause me to go less therefore spend less. I might not be the typical DVC member when it comes to this but we have made our trips not to be solely 100% on property only activities and now look elsewhere also.

I definitely think that tiered pricing is in the works. They've already done it for everything else, why not add tickets?

My husband and I were talking about this yesterday, actually. It seems that the parks are getting more and more crowded, so Disney is likely trying to capitalize on the number of people in the parks. If they can get less people through the gates while making more money, it's really a win-win for them. Sadly, this means they're slowly pricing middle income families out of the equation.

However, there's a reason Disney World is so popular right now. The kids who grew up with classic Disney films of the 80s and early 90s are now old enough to have their own children. Nostalgia is a very high motivator. It's likely that the Disney appeal will die off a little as the next generation become adults.
