rumor on another site

I'm not sure you could pay me to take points at the CRV.
The CR is a great place to shop and dine, but I have zero interest in actually staying there.

In my opinion, it's just... well.... Ugly. :teeth:

I agree that CRV is a strong possibility as the next DVC, but they will have to make a huge improvement in some way to attract potential buyers. They would have to make the rooms and building much more appealing and make a very nice to great themed pool to bring it up to the DVC standards. I expect they would still sell these even without this, but with the high sales that they expect, then to reach these lofty goals, they need to jazz it up considerably and it will sell quickly.

Call me  but I would have absolutely no interest in this whatsoever.

How 'bout you Beca?? ;)

I don't care either, but any new resort that enhances the value of our membership is okay with me! :woohoo:

We have no interest in the potential CRVs.

Thus, we will not be selling our VWL points to "add on" at the CRV.

I want Villas at AKL!

If they are gonna build at CR they best work on that lamo pool and slide.

I saw a previous person state that it would be by the monorail but my thought is it might be a significant walk before you get to the monorail. I always felt the appeal of the Contemporary is to see the monorail pass through the middle of it. I know that is what I thought in my youth and my 5 year old agrees with me.

If the DVC had easy access to the monorail then I would be interested.

The other thing is I wonder if people will dump their VWL points to get the potential Contemporary DVC resort.

What are your thoughts/speculations?

I agree about the walk to the monorail from the Garden Wing rooms. I think a possible CRV would be more appealing if the DVC rooms were in the main tower. Even without that, I'm sure it would sell out quickly.

And regarding the second point...as a VWL owner, I wouldn't sell our VWL points even if the CRV rooms were in the Contemporary Tower!

The VWL is "home" for us. We knew it the first time we stayed in a regular room at the Wilderness Lodge. ::yes::

I hope this turns out to be true. For young families, being so convenient to MK would be ideal. For us, Epcot is our choice, but I think a resort close to MK would be great!

We're not a young family, but we would love a CRV. There's nothing like being on the monorail and MK is still our favorite park.

Time will tell -- but I expect we'll find that CRV will be the most popular DVC location to date.

Now that is funny. Thanks for the laughs on this thread. :rotfl2: :lmao: :teeth:

I agree with Shan, AKLvillas would be much harder for us to resist! We would love to stay at CR, but would never sell our VWL points to buy there. WE love to boat ride over to the MK almost more than the monorail....more relaxing IMO!

I dont see any dumping of VWL points for CRV points happening. VWL is a very small resort whose theme is northwestern and isolated.

I also don't see why Disney would have to do much more to the Contemporary than add an interesting water feature or change the existing water features. No need to put DVC into the tower...DVC'ers have proven that they are willing to hoof it if need be.

The decor should be an interesting conundrum...previous DVC's have all had that beach house/country house/cabin kind of feel to them. By definition Contemporary DVC should have an urban mod feel to it to go with the hotel its connected to. The trick would be creating a design that would hold up for at least 10 years.

Yeah, I guess whoever suggested that VWL owners would 'dump' their points

for the Contemporary Resort felt that the resorts were similar.... :confused3

Me neither. CR isn't my taste. Also I have enough on site DVC points for us. We travel off peak times only so we stay wherever we want with my SSR points anyway. Monorail is a nice perk but not tempting enough to add on. We enjoy the resorts far more than the park days. Pool at CR is blah as well. They would need a super pool ( think BC) on the DVC side to make it remotely appealing to us. It is going to happen but you won't see me adding on, now Hawaii or another beach destination, I'm in. :thumbsup2

Even if you could use the super pool slide with a drink and your son at the same time?

On site at a CRV to me would not have any benefit of the monorail, other thatn Epcot. It would be a shorter walk to MK from the area along side of the CR than to enter the main building and head upstairs.

DVC still has a lot of selling to do at SSR, and they are still not yet finished. I would like to see the Tree House Villas get included in the vacation club menu first. They took a heavy hit a couple of years ago during the Hurricanes and are now only used as student housing.

I understand the Long term planning process, lets not forget about Eagle Pines, but lets focus on retention and making sure they dont forget how valuable we are as present members.

I heard from a boat capt on trip to DTD that they could never use the trr house villa's for commercial purposes because of the work needed and they can't do the work needed to rent them out because they were built in what is now a wetlands protection area , this is just what he said . I would love to have them in DVC though. :smooth:

We would be tempted to add-on at a CRV or Poly V or AKV... Any of the hotel-associated locations if they offer the longer term contract. We toured SSR last fall and despite the compelling math of the F & F incentive bought 100 more BWV points instead! My wife and I just had the sense that SSR was the "fallback" resort for our family.

If WDW is planning on turning CR into a CRV, they have a long way to go. I don't want to say that CR is a dump, but it is really showing it's age. The pool area out back looks more like a Motel 6. Walking up towards CR from the boat dock, I thought I was walking into the Mayan ruins !!! AFter a great stay at WL, I cannot ever see us staying at CR...with or without a CRV. We are seriously considering VWL, but a CRV would have absolutely no appeal to me.

The advantage of the monorail is not so much for MK but for Epcot. The monorail runs in the wrong direction for MK...you have to hit all of the other resorts( and the trans center) first b/4 you get to MK...I found it faster to hoof it over to MK on the walking path. The other monorail that runs through CR heading directly to MK does not stop at CR. On the flip side, have you ever tried to catch the monorail back to CR when MK closes ?? ..ouch...not me...I would rather walk !!!

On the other hand, the CR monorail is great for Epcot..one stop, one change and you are in Epcot.

Mayb you were at the Coronado Springs Resort. Actulally, I think that it would be great if the CR looked like Mayan ruins. At least it would have a recognizeable theme.

Personally, I think it will be great to have DVC there. I would not buy points, but I would choose to stay there from time to time.

For add-ons I am waiting for AKV or DL. Although, I have to admint, I would be all over a GFV (Grand Floridian Villas).

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if this is true in many ways. Certainly from a resale standpoint it will be given the preferred location and likely longer RTU term.
