rumor of Nov opening for Mine Train

I think they are shooting for a soft opening during the early part of MVMCP.

Similar to how Beauty and the Beast Castle soft opened during MNSSHP in 2012.

Sucks for us since we are there the end of September. YO Disney lets get some overtime in and get this ride completed by time my family is vacationing.

If not we are going to be MAD. :rolleyes1

I would love that. Lol. We will be there end of September too.

Jim Hill said in response to a comment on his article:

"How can you pretend to be an authority on how terrible this new attraction is going to be when Mine Train opens to the public in December when no one on this planet -- not even the Imagineers who actually designed the thing -- have ridden it yet?"

The interesting thing about this is that he wasn't giving it out as a rumor or an update. He just kind of slipped it in there.

So, I'm curious... What exactly qualifies as a "soft opening"? I'm going the first week in December and am curious if maybe we'll be there for a "soft opening". :confused3
For the other parts of New Fantasyland, in mid-October 2012 they opened up Mermaid, Gaston's, and Belle to the public...grand opening ceremony was early December 2012. No announcement or anything that the rides would be open. People just arrived at the parks and saw the walkway back there was not blocked and CMs were inviting people back.

I was there for the second through ninth day of the general public soft openings, and some mornings/times the area was closed off. I think as the official date got closer, the area might have been closed for an entire day or so, and it was also closed at times for the scheduled previews for AP, DVC , and CMs.

Note that these general public soft openings happened *before* the previously scheduled invitation-only (DVC, AP, etc.) previews. So one sign that soft openings could be happening soon is if they are scheduling these special previews.

Also, the Belle experience had quite a few test/preview sessions leak out several months before the soft openings. A few time the general public was invited into one of these but there were right-place-right-time situations that you couldn't line up for (unless you're a Disney blogger and a CM tips you off and you decide to stand by this construction door for a few hours one day).

Ah, I see. Interesting. I appreciate the info! :goodvibes Maybe we'll get lucky. If not it wasn't meant to be!

I'd be really excited if it opened in November since I'll be a CM starting in August-December! It'd be cool to get to see it done since I don't know when I'll be back after the end of December.

I am heading down in February 2014 so it sounds like it will be open then.

I can't wait. it has been way to long since we were in WDW back in 2009
