Hello all! Welcome, my name is Ty, I will be your story teller, really I am the best person to tell this story because I am the one who lived it. Yes, there were others on this trip, but this is my account of it.
Pictures will be posted later, however if you are of little patience then you may go to my pre trip and catch up on who looks like what there. Or you can just imagine me however you like, if you do go that way then I must tell you, you might be disapointed later, or perhaps presently surprised.
The people in this story are...
Myself, Ty, I am in my 30's, feel like I am in my 20's and told I act like I am in my teens
go figure.
My DD Reese 14, all I can do to describe her is to say watch every teeny bopper movie and T.V. show out there. Oh, and she is in love with her own butt! Can't pass a mirror with out stopping and doing a little booty shake in it.
My good friend and business partner Theresa, but I will refer to her as Coach, it's not really necessary to say her age, but I will do it anyway. 40something, is there a way to capatilize numbers? She does not at all look her age, no way no how.
Coach's DD Coley 15, a good friend of Reese's, they have cheered together for 3 and 1/2 years. Coley is too funny. That's all I got to say about that!
The when is December 4th-11th 2007
The where, Pop Century
The why... Cause I had some unsettled business to take care of, you can catch that story over in the completed trip report forum, titled THREE DECADES OF WAITING
The trip was booked New Years Eve 2006. The planning literally took place up until the day we left.
The countdown was slow, it felt slow, but looking back maybe it wasn't too bad. It started out as months, then became weeks, then events, like 2 more cheer practices, one more game and were off, then hours. I tell ya, having the Disboards helps alot, I have made so many friends here.
The night before was hectic, I had to be with my cheerleaders at the first basketball game of the season. Was my head in the game? No way. It was on my packing list, did I have it all, don't forget the phone charger, heck, don't forget the phone!!
When I finally went to bed that night there was no sleeping, It felt like christmas Eve when I was a child and I would pray for sleep just so the time would go faster, I'd finally fall asleep and then I'd wake up and look at the clock, WHAT? it's only been 15 minutes, C'MON here!
Finally my clock tells me I can get up and get ready. I say goodbye to my son whose is leaving for the bus stop and who did not want to go to Disney, guilt set in right about then. How can I be going on vacation without my boy? It's not right, I'd like to say I got over that quickly, but I didn't, it plagued me the whole trip.
Coach called, she's 15 minutes away, I use those 15 minutes to hold my littles (my chihuahua mixes) I gave my husband strict orders, you have to hold them on your lap every time you are sitting, you must share puppy love (kisses on the nose) let them sleep on the bed, under the covers, give them lotsa of treats and tell them every hour MAMA loves you and will be home soon. Did I cry when it was time to leave? You bet I did!!!!
It took some time to shove all the suitcases into coach's car, I didn't think we'd get them all in, but miracles do happen, 6 suitcases, 2 duffle bags, 4 carryons and 4 purses, plus 4 people all crammed into her tiny little Saturn, it was just a small 45 minute ride to her firends house where we would leave coach's car and get a ride with Alicia to the airport. I failed to mention that I had to hold a 400 pound box of cards on my lap for the first part of the trip, by the last 10 minutes of the ride my uterus was screaming at me... "I don't think I can take much more." for some reason I imagine my uterus to have an English accent.
At Alicias house my legs have gone numb and Coach pulls the box off of me and I roll out of her car and try to straighten my legs. We get all the luggage out of the saturn and discover that Reese's suitcase zipper broke, we asked Alicia for some duct tape, but she did us one better and lent us a suitcase. We all pile into Alicias van and make the 10 minute drive to BWI. We find our way to baggage checkin with no problems. We did the boarding pass thing on line the night before. I wanted tha A privelage seating!
Security was pretty easy, I knew what to do and had schooled Coach and Coley on it days before, so we wizzed through that. Now there we were with 2 hours to spare, what do we do? We eat. The girls ran off to get some chinese, I wished I had run off with them, instead Coach and I did a sit down lunch, our waitress did not speak english, I ordered the caesar salad and she brought me some yucky sour fruit thing, we got it straightened out and when the salad came it was smothered in dressing and cheese, so 4 bites into it I was done.
After lunch we gathered up our stuff and made it to our gate We saw the pilot, I told Coach, "This guy looks like he knows how to fly a plane, they don't give those little wings out to just anybody". It didn't take long to start boarding, and because of our A status we got to board first. I wanted good seats, each time i'd sit down I'd see we were over the wing, I don't want to be on the wing, I want a view, I move 3 times and still end up with a partial wing view, but by then people were starting to stare, so I settled down for the flight. Those wings are big when you are right up on them huh!
The girls sat behinde us, it was Coleys first time flying and she was excited, not the least bit scared, Coach has flown before but still needs a little help from Jack to get through it, if you know what I mean.
We taxi out to the run way,and the airline attendant is going through her whole thing of where the emergency exits are, your seat floats in case of a water landing and how to inflate your life vest. I got my first dose of coach's fear when she yealls, "Oh My God, you gotta blow it up yourself." I found that to be funny and tried hard to contain my laughter, I even thought, hmmmm... would that make a good trip title. Then she is wondering how do you blow up your vest when you have the airbag thing stuck over your face, can you use the air bag to inflate your vest. I am laughing so hard I am crying by now and the peole in front of me are pretty anal about the whole thing. I make a mental note to accidentally kick their seat when they are sleeping, not really!, well I did make the mental note, I just didn't actually kick the seat and really I wouldn't have. HONEST!
Take off was great, it's my favorite part, coach hates take off, but once we are in the air she is fine and starts flipping through a magazine, after an hour of us saying "ooo I want that." we put the magazine away. I had printed out Disney word search puzzles for the plane ride so I haul that out and get to work. The way to do those in my opinion is to first look at each word, so you know what you are working with, but seriously it's all about Disney so how hard can it be? I get to this one word and my brain can not figure out what it is, I spend too much time on it and get frustrated, and I say to Coach, "how can I find a word on here when I don't even know what it is, What is a GULOPEN GAWKO." That is how I read it, Coach takes one look at it and says," Galloping Gaucho." ME the Disney guru and I don't know what a galloping gaucho is, how could I have read that wrong? I got A's in spelling all through school, everybody within earshot liked that one.
We hit some turbulence, but nothing too bad, we talked about everything and nothing at the same time. finally it was time to make our desent, I was so excited, we are that much closer to Disney! As we are deboarding the plane I look back and there is the pilot we had seen at BWI, I point him out to coach and we wonder who flew the plane?
As I started down the aisle I heard a thud and knew I had dropped something so once off the plane I checked and yup, I had dropped our whole Disney package, no problem, I just headed back onto the plane where it was waiting for me in the hands of the flight attendant. she gave me a look like "I figured it'd be you." she tells me to enjoy my stay, of course I asure her that I will. We take a potty break. And then start our search for the A side. I am trying to be all cool, no problem, follow me, I got this, but really all that was showing was I am clueless, where's my sign, don't follow me I am lost! We thought the monorail might be a good thing to try, we ride it to the end but then the voice tells us to follow the B signs to baggage claim, well this can't be right, so we ride it back, then Coach asks a fella how to get to the A side and he said the monorail then just follow the signs. So our first 15 minutes in Orlando and we have already ridden the monorail 3 times. AAAh memories!
We follow the signs everywhere, we know it will lead us to something, everything is roped off, all that is keeping us from the A side is a rope, should we try and hurdle it, then we're told to go back the way we came but turn left at the beginning of the ropes. and wouldn't you know it, the opening is right there, we take the escalaters down stairs and right at the bottom is a lady with a big ole white glove, I instinctively head towards her, she tells us how to get to ME. Alot of walking we did that day! but we made it, the girls took a seat and Coach and I got in line, it moved quite fast, the CM talked pretty fast, I figured I can always ask questions later at Pop, so we gather up our bags and kids and head to our bus. I do the whole changing seat thing again, it had nothing to do with wings this time, I just wanted a good view of the T.V. We waited about 20 minutes, the bus had a total of maybe 15 people when we finally drove out of there.
I am going to stop here for now because this is where I would like to add pictures and I don't have them right now. So I will get back to you in a few days.
