RUMOR HAS IT... (My Dec 2007 Disney Vacation)

In my honest opinion, Soarin' is over rated. I liked it, but it just didn't live up to the hype. But your morning sounds like every normal morning to me, so congradulations on pulling it off :P. Now I want to know if you said hello to my buddy Figment?

-Dainan "Or the Mice O_O" Rafferty

I respect your opinion, really I do. But Dainan you're nuts!!! (they didn't have a dancing nut so I had to use the banana) Soarin was awesome!

I have always wanted to go hang gliding or skydiving, my dad never let me, and now that I have kids I can't see taking the chance, soarin was as close to those as I would ever get, and I'll take it. I know that you are a huge roller coaster enthusiast and need the bigger thrill, but c'mon here, give them kudos for ingenuity, it's supposed to be about living a dream, and seeing the beauty of our land....ok that last bit was a little mushy, but still.

Well, I have beef with it, because they kept the same film as Soarin Over California, and never made there own film. It kind of bothered me! But I did like it, I just can never imagine waiting more than 20 minutes for it, I can't believe how long the line gets even on slow days!

I've heard talk that they might change the film and make it more Florida, but who knows.

Yeah, I met the mouse. My first day at AK, he was dressed all Christmasy.

Great update Ty! I agree Soarin is awesome!:thumbsup2 I'm loving that you're getting to do the things that you didn't on your last trip!:goodvibes Looking forward to more!popcorn::

Great update Ty! I agree Soarin is awesome!:thumbsup2 I'm loving that you're getting to do the things that you didn't on your last trip!:goodvibes Looking forward to more!popcorn::

Soarin is AWESOME! Yes, I did so much more on this trip, but really I need a trip back, there are still things I missed, can you believe it?

So we finish up with soarin, we're tired and we're hungry. We headed down to Sunshine seasons and stared at the menus on the wall, even though we were STARVING HUNGRY nothing there appealed to us. We decided to go try the Electric Umbrella ay ay ay. IF you have heard the Rihanna song Umbrella then you will get why I added the ay ay ay, we did this everytime we said Electric Umbrella ay ay ay.

The Umbrella ay ay ay had the basic fast food offerings the chicken strips and burgers etc...etc... when you are too tired to think this is a good place to go. I sent the girls to find a table, Coach T and I stood in line. I must have bad line juju because we always seem to get in the lines that is training a new cashier. You have to be nice an understanding, it's not easy learning something new, and the added pressure of being at Disney I am sure doesn't help, even though they are just taking a food order they have to do it magically, because we are expecting the magic, even in our chicken strips.:wizard:

We got our food with a tiny wait, and he only messed up twice. The girls had picked out a table in the dead center of the umbrella ay ay ay, this will not work for me. I have phobias, I can't sit with my back to a door, I can't be sitting down and be surrounded by people, I can't sleep in a bed closest to the door. (so automatically you know which bed took at the resort) I found us a safer table along the wall next to the window, and also next to the family having a small meltdown. The girls didn't like my decision, but we stayed, I can't trust that anybody will watch the door for me and alert me to any danger coming in. I on the otherhand can be trusted to alert you to danger, my spidy senses are always working.

The family next to us had two little boys, maybe 2 and 3 years old, they were also hungry, dad was sitting with them while mom was up getting the food, the boys were screaming and dad finally opened up a bag of gummy bears, this quieted the boys down, but then mom showed up and was furious with the dad, I knew what she was thinking before she even said it. "HOw am I going to get them to eat their chicken now, all they will want is candy." They compromised and bargained and finally it ended up with a bite of chicken then a bite of gummy bear a bite of chicken then a bite of gummy bear.

We ate all our food like good little girls, dumped our trays, filled up our soda and left the umbrella ay ay ay. We went to test track, the stanby time was over an hour, the fast pass return time was for 6:30, so we grabbed a FP and then made our way over to Mission Space. The standby time was 40 minutes. Reese right away said she wasn't riding, we told her to wait in line with us then she could take the chicken door out at the last minute, she said no cause she knew we would use the whole 40 minutes to try and talk her into riding, and she's right, we would have. so reese found a nice bench and called her firend Bri back home to see what all she had missed so far.

WE got in line. I wanted to ride the orange side so did Coach, Coley was afraid of dying and thought about riding the green side, but her fear of being alone on the ride out weighed her fear of dying and she chose the orange side of death. It was fun at first joking around with her. "Here Coley, hold my orange death card while I search for my phone." and "Where did I place my orange card of death." She would whine "Tyyyyyyy, don't saaaaaay thaaaaaat." I guess she had dibs on the whole dying thing that day.

After 20 minutes of boredom I was ready to just quit, walk away, when you are super tired and all you can do is tand in a line it's agony, normally we find things to entertain us, but we were too tired to function, the people in the line were boring too, no good conversations to eave drop on and comment about, it was a dead line.

We finally get to our station where I told Coley we had to put on the spacesuits to ride this. She believed me, "EEEEEWWWW, that's gross, what if the person before me was all sweaty, or pee'd themselves." I am sure she figured out I wasn't serious when we were able to board our ship without the suits. I was the pilot, We were short one crew member, I let Coley know that the success of our mission was on her now.

I had spent months preparing Coach and Coley for take off, I felt stupid when take off turned out to be a cake walk. I think they toned this down a bit, they shortened it too. We finally landed on the edge of the cliff, Gary sinese tells us to not move a muscle, I expecting the ship to fall and almost crash with a huge fiery explosion, but at the last second the pilot (That'd be me) would heroicly pull us up and away from our impending doom. This did not happen, we are precarelessly perched on the edge of this cliff, not moving a muscle like we were told, then Gary says all happy and excited like, "Congratualtions, you have successfully completed your mission." Really? was the goal of our mission to be left stranded on a cliff? Cause that's where we were. Disney!!!! C'mon, you can't stop the ride mid fantasy, you gotta let us play this out. I'm tramatized by this now. Technically we are still on that ledge, our loved ones are home on earth staying glued to the T.V. cause CNN has a live link of us, there are candlelight prayer vigils being held world wide and Lifetime movie network is already negotiating a deal for the rights to our story...

We exit our ship (we should have fallen to our death really) and call Reese to meet us in where you can send the postcards from space. We sent a few then left.

We all knew there was no way we would make it to our ADR's that night with out a nap, so we had to abort our plan, (just like we did our ship) and head back to Pop. On the way out we stopped in at Club Cool. There were a gaggle of guys standing around the fountains, they saw us coming and mistook me for a dummy. "MMMMMM, the beverly is so good, why don't this market this in America." I reach for a cup. "You gotta try the Beverly." I bat my lashes at them, "Oh, I have and it's yummo, my friend Coley has never tired it though." They caught on to my ploy and helped play into it. "Oh, well here let me get you a cup of it." Coley swigs it. Her face looked like it was trying to eat itself. "This is the worst blankety blank I have ever tasted." she tried wiping off her tongue. I felt bad for this, but no tfor long, it's all part of the Disney magic. Coach T tried it and thought it was awful. It's very sad that somewhere in this world people actually drink this as a beverage, they do it willingly, no tricks or nothing, why? Cause they think it's good. BLECH! they have probably never had a Pepsi. Yes, I am a Pepsi girl, I'm fromt he pepsi generation, I know they say coke is it, but I am sure there are people in 3rd world countries saying the beverly is it too. It'll always be pepsi for me.

We didn't have a long wait for the bus, it was empty so we kind spread out and slept all the way back to Pop.

House keeping had not come yet, so we hung the sign on the door, closed up the curtains, no light allowed, got on our jammies, set the alarm and crawled into bed. It wasn't long before I was deep in the arms of the goddess of sleep.

The alarm went off. We had a little over a 2 hour nap, I could have slept the rest of the night until morning to be honest. I had given us plenty of time to get ready and make it back to Epcot for our ADR's at Coral Reef. So we all redid our hair and makeup. Reese did the wardrobe dance again.

We were still so tired, none of us really talked all that much. I sat with Reese on the bus for the first time our whole trip. I had always just sat with Coach. Even when we were waiting for our table to open up Reese and I sat on a bench by ourselves and just took funny pictures of eachother. But once we were seated the conversation just opened up again.

I really liked this place the first time I went and was ecited for it this time. We started out with our appetizers. 3 of us got the land and sea, and Reese got the shrimp cocktail. I love shrimp when it's cooked and all warm. Steamed with old bay is my favorite, I can't stand the texture of shrimp when it's cold.
For our main meal 3 of us got the snow crab legs and reese got the shrimp alfredo. This caused Coach and I to do our best at remembering the Sesame Street song

1 of these things does not belong here
1 of these things just isn't the same....

You can see in this picture that I still look tired.

The girls claimed they were tired but I don't see it. they look young and refreshed.

The crab legs were awesome. I like that they split them long ways and eliminate us having to crack them open ourselves. Coach was having trouble getting the meat out of her shell, at one point she accidently sent a big chunk of it flying across the room, it landed on the table of the people next to it. Coach apologized and said she didn't get out much. They thought that was funny, we all did. How are you suppose to handle your food landing at the table next to you?:confused3

Dessert came, Coach and Coley both got the chocolate wave, I got cheese cake and Reese got some mouse thing, which she didn't eat. I took a bite, it was pretty good.

We left coarl Reef with gigantically huge bellies, but feeling more awake. I thought we would go ride test track but COach didn't think she could handle it so soon after eating. She wanted to go to World Showcase, I suggested maybe we do something simple like HISTA then try Test track, she said no I don't want to, I just want to go to WS. I really didn't want to do WS, I had planned a whole day for that later in the week. But Coach had gone and done everything that everyone else had wanted to do and never complained, so I gave my fastpass to Reese and Coach gave hers to COley, we told them to have fun and call us later.

We started out in Morroco, we didn't really do anything but take a picture as we walked by. We stopped where they had a guy out doing wood carvings, he was talking to a family, as they were leaving the little girl gave him a picture she had drawn, he asked is this for me to keep. She told him yes, and the look on his face and the huge genuine smile he gave her as he said it would be one of his most treasured possesions brought tears to my eyes. She then gave him a hug. I loved it. Coach bought a carved tribal mask for her son, it was really cool looking.

As we approached germany I could already smell the Ghlue vine (glow wine) cooking. Don't know if I am spelling this right. As a child living in germany we used to go to the Kristkindel mart every christmas. My parents always got a Glass of ghlue vine and they would let my sister and I have a taste. I didn't like it, but I always took a drink cause it made me feel grown up. My dad would also serve it christmas Eve at our partys. The smell brought me back to my childhood. We still celebrate alot of the traditions we learned over there. I make an advent wreath every year. And I still fill my kids shoes with candy on the night of Dec. 5th.

I called my sister and we reminisced for quite some time. I hope that some day I will be able to take my kids to Germany so they can see how I grew up. I also knew that when we came back on our scheduled day I wanted to eat at sommerfest. We shopped around for a long time. the girls finally caught up to us. Reese wanted to get some marzipan, I told her it was an aquired taste, she bought it anyway along with some chocolate and gummi Bears.

Coach wasn't feeling too well and wanted to head back to the room, I was ready to call it a night as well. I kept stopping along the way to take pictures, I finally told Coach to just head back without me, I was having a good time. So she and coley went on ahead.

Reese and I walked slow and took in the sights, we stopped to watch the fountains dance to the Christmas music.

We spent about 10 minutes trying to get a cute boy on video without him knowing it, it was all for Reese, but really I believe I have no future in surveillance. It was so obvious what I was doing.

There was a major long line at the bus stop. Reese and I got comfortable on the ground. One lady had a cane that opened into a tiny chair for her. I want one of those. A lot of people were asking her about it.

Reese tried the marzipan and hated it, so I tried to finish it, she opened up the gummi bears and we munched till the bus came.

Back at Pop Reese called Coley and they made plans to meet their CM friends, she handed her bags off to me and left. I went to the room, COach was already dressed for bed. She was doing some work on her laptop, I showered and when I came out the girls were there. Their favorite CM wasn't working that night so they decided to call it an early night. Reese showered, then COley. We in bed and asleep before 11:00pm.

Tomorrow would be my Birthday Celebration.

Shrimp, yummmmmmmmmmy!
I like those big ol goblets. Kind of goth looking.
The girls claimed they were tired but I don't see it. they look young and refreshed.

Ahhhh, youth. I remember when I could live on 4 hours of sleep.

Too funny. I went on a blind date once, he got crab legs. There was crap flying everywhere. Notice I said once!!

I so want that chocolate wave.

You are such a good friend. I know how hard it must have been to sway from the Itinerary. The Itinerary we plan for months. The Itinerary that consumes our whole being. The Itinerary no one "gets".

What a sweet story. I love it.

Does this stuff really glow??

Wasn't it nice to have some alone time??

looking forward to your b-day celebration!!! popcorn::

ILMICKEY I love the chocolate wave!!! I don't know why I got the cheesecake. I think it was because last time DH got the cheesecake and I loved it, it's true the grass is always greener on the other side, no matter what I get I want what the other person has.

I don't know why it's called glow wine, maybe cause it's served hot? But no it doesn't really glow.

I hate deviating form the itinerary, it's scary when there is no plan to follow.

dddisrunner I think next time I am going to plan for Epcot earlier in the vacation, there is just too much here to do and I don't want to keep missing out.

tubachick My B-day was so much fun, I can't wait to tell you about it. Thank s for reading:)

I awake to the sound of my cell phone ringing. I know right away that's it's my sister calling because my ringtone for her is "Girls just wanna have fun." I answer, "Hello?"

"YOU SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY, DA NA NA NA NA NA NA
IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TOO,
YOU SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY, DA NA NA NA NA NA
WE'RE GONNA HAVE A GOOD TIME!"

It's out tradition to sing this to eachother on our birthdays. Yup, it's my birthday, I am 30.....again....:rolleyes1 Today is all about me. :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2:  :yay:

I talk to my sis a bit. She asks me if I want to know what she got me for my birthday. I already know it's the sisters ornament from Hallmark, I get one every year. I have for the past 15 years. So I say no, let me be surprised. We laugh cause we know it's corny, we go through this every birthday.

We hang up, and seconds later my phone rings again, I know it's Jim calling from home cause that ring tone is "Mercedes Benz" by Janice Jopplin. I love that song, so i don't answer the phone right away.

"LORD, WON'T YOU BUY ME A MERCEDES BENZE,
MY FRIENDS ALL DRIVE PORCHES, I MUST MAKE AMMENDS,
WORKED HARD ALL MY LIFETIME, NO HELP FROM MY FRIENDS,
SO LORD, WON'T YOU BUY ME A MERCEDES BENZ."

"Hey Jimbo you're up early"

"No actually i haven't been to bed yet. (that's my boy)
I wrote you a birthday song mom, wanna hear?"

"You know I do!"

He starts playing away on his guitar, it's thrash metal, then he whispers, "Happy," he starts thrashing again then whispers, "Birthday." then he slows it down, it's a beautiful ballad, then he screams "Happy Birthday to you MOM!"

I love it, were you up all night working on it?

He just laughed. I asked where dad was, Jim said he was out cutting wood and would call me later. we hung up and then I woke every one before jumping in the shower.

Reese was straightening her hair when I got out. "Happy Birthday mom, your present is on the bed." I went to the bed, it was in a Disney box so I knew it was a purchase from our vacation. She got me 4 jibbitz for my crocs, and a magnet for my car. Coach got me a Disney World ornament, a Disney princess pocket calender, a magnet for my fridge a mug and a Tinker bell jibbit. I loved it all. This was already a great birthday.

I got dressed. My lotion for the day was called birthday cake, it only seemed appropriate, my lipgloss was gingerbread. I put all the new jibbitz into my crocs, I felt like a rich woman. The last accessory was my birthday button.

We headed out the door for my birthday breakfast with Pooh and friends at the Crystal Palace. I hadn't even made it out of the main hall when I was wished a Happy Birthday by a CM.

We were first in line to catch a bus and we waited a long time, I started second guessing if I was at the right place, but other people were getting in line too, so I asked if they had Breakfast ADR's at MK and they said yes, so I settled my mind down and waited. The bus finally came and the bus driver wished me a happy birthday, :) this is awesome. we went all the way to the back of the bus, it was our favorite place to sit. On the way to MK Coley anounced to the bus that it was my birthday and we should all sing to her, and you know what? they did:cloud9: I am loving this day. I never get this much attention at home.

I was reading on here today about how much good treatment you get on your birthday! My mom said if I want to since my birthday is the closest to when we are going i can say I am celebrating my birthday just two months in advance..lol ;)

I am looking forward to hearing more about your birthday at DW!!

Thats a lot of birthday magic already.....

VroomVroomLightening The CM's go out of their way to make you feel special on your birthday. Why not celebrate early?

Happy Easter Ty!:goodvibes

There's nothing like a birthday at Disney!!! (And yes, I'm still here, even though I haven't posted.....sorry!!!) Happy belated birthday to you!!!!!

DD2 is the only one in our family who hasn't had the birthday honors. DH just did in March. DD9 did at Chef Mickey's. I have before. We will somehow have to figure out a way to go in Sept. for DD2. Hard though, since I am a teacher.....I feel a terrible 3 day migraine coming on in the not too distant future for her birthday.....lol......

dddisrunner I swear to you it was like everybody was on the same page, like they all got together the night before and said let's make this the most special day for Ty.

jackdis A 3 day migraine that only Disney can cure? I hear you!

We got off the bus at MK and followed the crowd to the front gate. the security person checking my bag wished me a happy birthday. The lady with the big Mickey hand wished me a happy birthday, the lady handing out park maps wished me a happy birhday. I was giddy by now, then my phone rang, it was my mom, how did I know? Her ring tone is Freebird!

Hi Momma!

Hi honey, I wanted to be the first to wish you a happy Birthday.:rotfl2:

Well Momma, you're not, but thank you anyway. I chatted until I had to scan my finger, then we hung up. I send my card through, the light turned green, I walked through the turnstyle but the CM took my card and told me to satand off to the side. I thought uh-oh, what happened, is my birthday about to take a U turn? She finished letting coley, Coach and Reese through before she turned to me.

"I am sorry young lady, but I can't let you into the park...until I do this." She reached into her pocket and started sprinkling conffetti on my head while she sang Happy Birthday to me. The she told me "This magic will stay with you all day."

I loved this, it was so perfect, I thanked her for the song and the magic.

I put some of the confetti in my bag so I would have it for my scrapbook, but I left alot in my hair. WE made our way up the empty main street, we got alot of good pictures of the castle. I loved that it was so empty.

We checked in at Crystal Palace, there was already a line formed, but it didn't take long for our name to be called, the place filled up pretty quick. We were seated in the back on the left side as you enter the restaraunt. We got situated and then went to get our breakfast. There was so much to choose from, I know a got a muffin and bacon and fruit but I can't remember a whole lot. I can tell you I was too excited to eat. To this day I regret not eating more.

My phone rang during breakfast, ringtone "Hello I love you." by the doors, which meant it was kent. We talked only momentarily because Pooh was already on his way to our table. He said he'd call me later in the day.

Pooh was super happy when he saw my birthday button, he clapped his hands and did a little dance. we did the whole picture taking thing, my sister called while I was getting my picture with Pooh. He is her favorite of all times, so she asked that I not hang up, I sent her the picture of me with Pooh while on the phone with her. She likes to point out to people where she is in the picture.

* I'M SORRY THERE AREN'T ALOT OF PICTURES. I HAVE SO MUCH TROUBLE UPLOADING AND RESIZING, MY COMPUTER IS JUST TOO SLOW FOR IT NOW.

Next up came Tigger, we all got our pictures with him, except for Reese, Tigger dissed her, she swears she is tramatized, she stood to get her picture just as Coley handed him her autograph book, so Reese waited and as soon as Coley got her picture, tigger turned and left. I think it's sad. i know he didn't see her there, and really she doesn't care. She just likes to say he's mean now.

Piglet came around next, he more than made up for tigger, he was all about Reese, gave her a big smothering hug and kept patting her on the head.

Next was Eayore, he spent the most time with us, we got lot's of pictures with him.

creayore.jpg
[/IMG]

We were just about finishing up and getting ready to go when our server brought me a cupcake with a candle on it. He lit it and sang Happy Birthday, I also got a birthday card with all the characters signatures. We paid up and then left.

It was my day, so I planned to go to adventurel and first. we came across Rafiki, I got my picture with him.

Then we went over to the jungle ride. The CM at the front sang a birthday song to me, it went "This is your birthday song, and it's not very long, Hey!" The magic just keeps coming.

There wasn't a line at all, a boat was waiting for us, we all piled into the back and the boat operator started his speal, it was pretty much the same jokes I heard the first time I went. We thought it would be funny to wear our googly eye glasses at this point. the driver looked at us and then did the rest of his act with his back turned to us. How RUDE!

We rode POC after that, I have to say, I don't believe in George. :confused3 really!! IT never worked the whole time we were there. I had Reese video while I did my best to get some pictures, that's hard to do when you can't use a flash. confession....I used it once to get a good picture of Captain jack, but that was the only time.

After that we went to BTMRR. no line this time, we got right on it. I don't remember it being so jerky, but it was, alot of whipping me from side to side. After that we just walked around for a while. Reese and Coley kept telling random people it was my birthday, so the birthday wishes was never ending. My favorite part was when we were in Liberty Square and coley shouted very loud, "My good people of Disney, today it Ty's birthday, she is 50 years old, everyone wish her a Happy Birthday." I mostly got wierd looks from that, probably because I don't look 50 at all, but I let them think I was.

you all know Sally O'mally from Saturday Night Live? "I'm 50 (sounds like fity) years old, I'm 50." I did that.

WE rode Haunted Mansion, it was uneventful, then we went to ariels Grotto and got in line to, as Reese said "Meet the fish." While in line the girls conducted a video interview of different people and what they thought of Disney, they told people it was for a school project.

Coach sat on the rock wall facing the sun and said she was going to be ambidextrous. "you're going to be both left and right handed." I asked her. she said no, she is going to wait in line and get a tan at the same time. I guess she meant she was going to multi-task.

We finally got up to meet Ariel, she was extremely talkative, I got shy around her. I know, right? oh well, I look like a total dork on the video. She wished my a happy birthday and told me to go visit her other princess friends.

It was after this the girls wanted to leave. but...it's my birthday:guilty:
Reese was tired and Coley was too hot. It was the warmest of all the days we were there. They wanted to go to the pool. So I let Reese go with strict instructions to call me once she was safe on the bus. and then the 2 left. It was just Coach and I.

We wanted to see Captain Jack, so we asked a CM about it. She said they weren't doing the meet-n-greets with him that month but he was doing a pirate tutorial, we checked on the time for that and saw we had lots of time to go the toon town and the judges tent before veiwing the hottie pirate.
