Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

My June 7-12 trip is still on MDE, all fastpasses and reservations attached. No emails yet either.

That said, I had no issues booking fastpasses for July 19-24 this morning (Granted, I needed smuggler's run not MMRR for my Mom the ultimate Star Wars fan). The availability was much better than it was for June.

This recent graduation/quarantine sleep schedule i have going on is making 7am fastpass selection feel pretty rough though

Idk. It’s getting really old. They have to have some idea of when they’ll open & making ppl wait til Wed/Thurs each week is getting to be obnoxious. I get they might not 100% know, but I seriously doubt they don’t know til Wed/thurs each week.

It’s crazy they’re opening DS up for 12 hours right out the gate. In all reality, it means nothing, but why go 0 to 50 on the shopping market with most of the stores closed if you’re not testing out how a long day would go over

They probably have a much better chance of spreading out the crowd this way. It would be a mess if everyone only had access to the same 3 hour window.

Is there another thread about cancelled trips since the other one was locked? Or are people going to be posting on this one if they get a cancellation email this week? My trip would get cancelled next week, or possibly the week after since I have Sunday check in date 6/21. I can't remember if they're cancelling just through the Saturday. Getting pretty over the not knowing at this point only because I want to make other arrangements, but can't bring myself cancel.

I can't wait to see how DS opening is. I imagine pretty similar to CW. I love DS I would be content just going there and a resort if parks weren't open. If my trip gets cancelled I probably will look into staying at Bresort, their pool is opened, and visit DS and some of our other favorite places in florida early June. Here, MA/RI is still pretty much closed. I haven't booked flights yet, we're considering driving. I looked yesterday and Jetblue isn't even running flights out of PVD to MCO until July.

I wonder if the third party properties pushed for it as longer hours give them a better chance to make money with limited capacity

DS opens at 10 AM today. I am interested to see how it compares to the 4 PM opening of CityWalk.
What I find strange is that everything opens at 11am or later, so the 10am seems extra early, are they really expecting tons of people there before? I already see some pics from DS, so who knows at what time the garages opened
I'll be there at 11am

Yeah...I'll be watching your stream. Maybe the Joffrey's coffee kiosk(s) are open before 11 AM? Regardless, enjoy!

My family voted to still keep our reservation for June 8th-17th. We're DVC, so I'm anxiously awaiting any news. There have been no changes to our MDE page. All fastpasses and tickets remain intact.
I really don't want to wait until early June to make any changes. This trip was made to celebrate multiple graduates, so I let them make the call. The tension is real, though. Hope we get some good news! Good luck everyone, and hang in there!!

I made my FPs yesterday and availability looked pretty normal and comparable to what I had experienced making FPs in the year prior to the closure. Not the sparse availability that we had been hearing about for June trips.

So the question is:
Is Disney STILL limiting the FP availability, but there are fewer guests in July because many have cancelled due to the many factors being discussed in this thread (guests are not liking the modifications, guests are looking at alternate vacations since Disney has not announced a reopening and keeps cancelling 3 weeks out, concern about health, etc.).

Or

Is Disney NOT limiting FP availability anymore for July because they expect that if the parks are open, the attractions will run FP capacity similar to how it had been done pre-closure?

I did my fast passes yesterday and to me it seemed like a normal process, no surprises at all. I'm hoping your second opinion is true .

This thread is about the modifications once Disney reopens. I would guess that anything relating to Operations, including Resort closings and openings would be part of the main Operational Updates thread:
