Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

They expect those of us who want masks and distancing to stay home because we are "terrified of the virus." :sad2:
Its why I have been against Disney and all theme parks opening. I thought most Disney fans were better then that. It saddens me cause I was planning on taking my 6 month old next year now I am not so sure. Going to take my money to else where now. ☹️

Oh I don't see Disney fans saying it. It's people in my community screaming at my governor on Facebook.

I’m about to move to Florida and I couldn’t wait to buy my APs. Now, forget it. Think I’ll wait. If they downgrade the experience, they should downgrade the price. Also, my son has autism and he will never wear a mask. He’s already been exposed to covid19 when I had it so his immune system is fine. I don’t understand why we can’t get an antibody test and prove we (those recovered) aren’t a threat! Why should I wear a mask if I’m already over this??? This one size fits all approach won’t work for us.

Because there's no proof that you can't get it again. My friend had it and still has to wear a mask every day at work.

I would think a LOT of people would postpone their trips with no pools.

We should make a little poll of like the Top 5 things that, if "modified", would cause you to cancel or postpone your trip. (And remember this is just people's opinion's - this is how people feel - this simply means that they don't find value in WDW as a vacation destination if some things are changed - (just not worth the time/money) - no judging needed:

For me, I think I would consider postponing my trip if (in this order, where #1 is the one I would most consider postponing my trip if it was like that):

1 - No M&Gs at all (have little kids they love them and we love the photos)
2 - No pool access at all (it's hot down there. Taking a day off to splash in the highly themed pools is a big part of the value of staying at a disney resort)
3 - No indoor theatres (the parks have a lot of fun indoor theater shows that are family friendly for families with young kids)
4 - No Disney transportation - or heavily modified - (not sure how they would have resorts open without buses, but I could see it being really inconvenient if certain transportation wasn't running or they made buses run half empty)
5 - Required masks outside - (I am not trying to start the debate, I am just saying personally, I would find it too uncomfortable for me and the kids, so maybe just wait until they are not required).

Again . .this is from the perspective of someone who would come down for a 4-5 day vacation, and things things would change based on family preferences.

What about you?

My list of things is much shorter. If these happen, we would shorten our trip from 8 nights to 2-3 nights.
1. No TS
2. No Pools
3. Only MK open
4. Large number of attractions/rides closed

We would be very sad without fireworks, but would still go the same amount of time.
We are fine without character meets (hopefully they will do something like Shanghai Disney, where you can still see them at an appropriate distance/no interaction)
We are fine without parades.
We are fine wearing masks.
We are fine using touchless ordering and payment.
We are fine with limited transportation options. We will have a car.

Re: reopening, Texas reported their largest single day increase in the virus on Sunday.

This is exactly why our must have list not to cancel entirely is so short. Yes I know, more testing, more cases...blah, blah, blah...But I think there’s a good chance this thing comes back with a vengeance in the fall and who knows what will happen then, could go right back to a shut down. Disney is going to open soon whether I think they should or not and I want to go while it lasts. Over reaction? Maybe. But if anyone had said we’d be where we are today just 4 months ago, people would have thought they were crazy.

I think they want to keep a lot of people away. Have you read articles about the future of airline travel? They’re far more strict compared to the rules that Disney will probably have in their parks. And airline rates are expected to go up a lot to provide for social distancing on the plane. I’m hearing up to a 50% increase in airfare.
Well it will sure make the airline industry harder to bounce back if they have those changes I've read for an extended period of time - less flights, more layovers, increased costs. At least wait times shouldn't be bad if a lot less people are flying. You'll see a lot more people driving to WDW if that's the case.

If airlines change their prices/policies this significantly, I would hope they give people cash refunds for all these credits (that expire at the end of the year).

I noticed Shanghai did those walk-by temperature checks. I assumed Orlando would do this because it keeps the flow moving and crowds would presumably be higher than DS. We shall see.

My company has put in "Walk through temp checks"

Its on a tripod and you would between it and another device. It snags your temp as you walk through an sounds an alarm if you Temp is over 100.5.

Much faster and more efficient than a cast member holding one 6 inches from your forehead for every single person. They could have it setup by the metal detector and knock out two birds with one stone that way.

I disagree. They aren't going to relax safety measures until a vaccine or validated treatment is in place, so expect it to change early next year at the soonest. Disney guests are, on average, an extremely vulnerable group of people. And most of them will have NOT been exposed to the virus prior.

I disagree with you, there are more factors than just a vaccine or treatment. When local, state and federal govt's decide to say something else, as well as the cdc, or studies that show what is or isn't effective. Plus what happens in places where says masks aren't required.

yeah definitely something to think about, they will have to allocate CM for the temp checks so instead of maybe 10 being at MK, they could spread them out. Also if the temp check does not have to be conducted by a medical professional the bus drivers could do it with a manager of each hotel being present (not THE manager but someone from the manager on duty or some kind of upper position person in each resort)
How would they do this at resorts with multiple stops (SSR) has five you would need one at each stop

If Disney wanted to make investments in efficiency they should get the X ray machines like Universal while they are at it. The difference is night and day with regard to convenience, speed, and overall irritation level.

I think people are going to have to figure out their travel plans if the airlines do implement these. I find it very likely that they’ll operate flights at 50% capacity with much more expensive tickets and require masks and temperature checks.

Most flights will end up being business travelers that can’t conduct business over Zoom.

A local restaurant is not the same as an international destination like Disney. They cannot and will not look at local policies to make conclusions because it is apples and oranges. They are going to be very conservative about this. They have to be to protect themselves.

Like i said, if the bius driver is able to do it, it shouldn't be hard, it really only takes seconds to screen each person
And then if someone's temp is high they would need to go to ther front desk to recheck

While there is apparently enough wiggle room that Disney can know your temperature, they have been very firm in DAS program they cannot know your medical diagnosis.

Also practically speaking those results are just a forgeable piece of paper.

We don’t know what Disney will require or if they will have exceptions for those with disabilities that prevent them from being able to wear a mask. If you want to go I encourage you to email guest services and inquire. (They may not have an answer for the parks until they have an opening date and have solidified opening procedures.)
