Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I’m sorry if this has been discussed already. I haven’t read everything and only pop in here once a day or so and this thread moves fast.

Has there been any mention of pools and/or water parks? If the pools are not open this summer that is a huge dealbreaker for us. We like the water parks, too, but can live without them as long as we can use the pools.

I’ve seen nothing on them. The cdc indicates the chlorine should not cause the water to spread the virus so they should be safe but the social distancing may be harder to do in a pool or water park environment.

if I had to guess I’d expect resort pools to open but water parks would be after the land parks.

Nothing official. There's been people talking about what they think would make sense (pools open, chairs/loungers limited, etc.), but no word from Disney - it's all speculation at this point.

Jealous of those of you who get a fall break! Well, kind of. I'm guessing you probably go back before us. Our first day isn't until September 8. I would go ahead and plan a first week of September trip if it weren't for the fact that I have zero clue what days teachers will need to be available for PD/planning days.
We start after Labor Day as well. Do you get a mid-winter recess? We always have presidents week off for it

Nope, we get one whole day off for that. Here's the schools breaks for Wayne County (Detroit MI) area next year:
9/8: First day of school
11/26-11/27: Thanksgiving break
12/21-1/1: Winter Break
2/15: President's Day Off
3/29-4/2: Spring Break
6/16: Last Day of School

So not much time to cram in a Disney trip since my husband can't take off Christmas or Spring Break, and I'm not allowed to extend our Thanksgiving or President's Day break per our contract. I do get to save up personal days I can take for whatever reason I want by subbing on my prep, so my plan is to start doing that to take a long weekend trip in December next year.

We feel the same way. Resort pools are a big part of the reason we enjoy staying at some of the nicer resorts at Disney instead of the value resorts. And of course it's one of the kiddos' favorite parts of the trip. We enjoy the water parks but can skip them for a year.

Has anyone heard anything about Vero Beach opening? I would think it could open up soon since it's a beach resort. Maybe it would be good practice for the WDW resorts to see what new policies will be implemented.

Good point - I think it would be hard to tell people who pay to stay at Beach Club or Yacht Club they can't use Stormalong Bay

I saw that article too. The headline was misleading, it has only been announced that masks will be required for DS. DFB is really fishing for clicks lately.
I'm not judging whether her article was clickbait at this point.

Her article, her sources, her headline. The wording was straightforward and unambiguous.
We will know if she was right or not when the Disney decision is announced.

I think there's going to be a significant proportion of the population for whom either money or fear or both will still keep them away. I know fall break often includes inservice days, but if you have a fall break that happens to be the LAST week of October, it's actually been really great for us in the past (earlier weeks in October are awful.) I think for the foreseeable future crowds will be really light - the tradeoff being less entertainment, masks, etc.

We get a fall break, but my oldest is in marching band and they always have a competition that weekend.

Well she’s just guessing like the rest of us...and she has a 50/50 chance of being right. Lots of click bait coming out of that site lately. But I digress.

Just want to say- We gave up on our June trip. It was probably going to be canceled or so modified that it might not have been enjoyable. Going to try for October. We are planning on a beach vacation instead. I hope those that still have June booked get to go if they want. I just could not take the uncertainty and really just like to have a plan on going somewhere. Good luck everyone!!

We are getting really close to doing the same. The daily trickling of things not available for booking in June (resorts yesterday, restaurants/events today) makes me think June isn't going to happen. I am thinking that it would be better PR for Disney to just announce the month is closed a few weeks ahead, rather than going week to week.

We did too. I basically gave up as soon as they cancelled our cruise. We had 5 nights CL at CSR Tower then 7 nights on the Fantasy. So disappointed. Just waiting at this point to get my refund for the CL FPs that we booked. Already rebooked for 7 nights Boardwalk and 7 nights on the Fantasy May 2021.

For those following along with CM schedules. The schedule has not come out today. They usually get their schedule a week out every Sunday, this lack of schedule also happened at the beginning of closures, it came out I believe it was Tuesday or Wednesday.

Maybe this means they are going to start being called back? Or it could mean nothing at all.
