Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I think some of these modified experiences will be overlooked by many folks at first, simply because it feels like life can start to begin again.

Oddly my DD snapped D Springs yesterday just to say she missed it.

Oh it's on her story so took a screen shot.

Can't wait.

And I scolded her for hands free.

Honest question sorry a bit off topic.

Are newborns and young toddlers losing out on building immune systems during this? Actually everyone?

Just seems like sheltered in a daily sanitized environment might make them more susceptible to anything the longer they/everyone wait.

Kind of the War of the Worlds type result.

This is a really significant point that a lot of people seem to be ignoring.

Not just newborns and toddlers, but kids, teens, and adults. And it is on topic. If we wear masks and gloves and sanitize ourselves to oblivion at theme parks and other public places, we may be causing more problems for ourselves in the long run. I know there were recommendations years ago to avoid hand sanitizer because it could ultimately weaken our immune systems.

Bacteria and viruses aren't going away. I see a lot of people talking about "adapting" to masks, but our bodies are made to adapt to viruses- but only if we let them adapt. Maybe we should be adapting to our environment rather than hiding from it?

It is a really tough call- I get that. I don't know the right answers. I go back and forth whether to have my kids sanitize, sanitize sanitize, or whether to expose them to small amounts of bacteria (and keep them away from strong, potentially dangerous chemicals in cleaners and sanitizers) that might help them in the long run.

My grandfather always said, "To keep kids healthy, you've got to let them eat a little dirt every now and then." I keep coming back to that. Maybe not literally eating dirt, but at least, being exposed to it.

It is something we need to think about, anyway.

So no straws because they are bad for the environment. But disposable plastic gloves? Absolutely. Let's order them by the tens of thousands.

That will be interesting how they balance their image as Concerned-For-The-Environment with Concerned-For-Safety. It's not an easy call.
There have been a lot of changes back to plastic because of this situation. Various places will probably migrate back to the environmentally friendly options eventually. Plus, who knows at this point which one (plastic or paper) carries less virus on it, I just use common sense and wash my hands.

Orange County doesn’t have a mask mandate. It may be suggested, but it’s not required here.

I live in Orange County and I’m not aware of a mask mandate. There are situations that require them, but we aren’t required to wear them everywhere we go.

That is good to know-
I have a cotton one someone made. Super cute, but I am very claustrophobic. So I was looking for one that’s lighter.

Here is the executive order for OC with regards to the masks. They are required ONLY when 6 feet in NOT possible or for during eating at restaurants for example.

When I saw that Hulk mask on the shopdisney site, I knew my nephew would wear that even if there wasn’t a pandemic going on, so maybe it’s not the dealbreaker for a summer trip than we thought it might be.
Good point. Does that change Disney's rule that 14 and up can't enter the parks wearing a mask? Can I wear a character mask instead of surgical one? That's a horse of a different color. :scratchin

Then I hope they enforce physical distancing as much as possible.
Most stores I have been to, Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Wal Mart etc. have the stickers for spacing but not really enforcing in any noticeable way. Even Costco who requires masks in stores, once in the stores I have seen people take them off etc. with employees seeing them and not doing anything. Disney might try to a bit more but don't expect much as it is putting CMs in confrontational situations which creates legal issues.

I work in a grocery store and it really upsets me how so few take this seriously. We are in new normal now. Physical distancing is not going to go away. We may not need masks but to keep 6 ft apart is possible to do. Here in Canada physical distancing will be in place til a vaccine or treatment comes. Im of the opinion that Mickey needs to grow a set and start enforcing rules they have in place. Other parks already evict people who have their phones out on rides.

yup, it's not being enforced, which is why I think Disney will not enforce any mask wearing on property
Osceola County has required masks for several weeks. They wanted to put a $500 fine or jail time to enforce it. They changed their stance on that before the mask requirement went in to effect. Apparently there is a Florida law that you can’t wear face coverings in public so it gets complicated.
