Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

People are making fun of CA but for all we know they are the ones doing the correct measures. Time will tell.
I'm certainly not making fun of them. While I really want WDW to open, what I'm seeing locally with people's behavior, if that's what's going on in the rest of the states opening up, sure makes me think this may all get shut down before Disney ever gets the chance to open. I think Cal is one of the few doing it right. People can't seem to handle a little less restriction without going nuts.

I wasn't making fun of California. I very much approve of Newsom's job and Florida took way too long to shut down IMO. ..but I seriously might not be able to get a haircut before my trip. Stage 3 is months off.

Not sure if this means anything... but I had called several weeks ago to see about booking the Ultimate Day of Thrills VIP tour for the end of June and was told by a CM that they weren't able to book any tours for the month of June. I called a few days after that and got the same response from another CM. Well I called back today to check about the end of June as well as the beginning of July for the tour, and the CM said they were now able to book June tours and I was able to book for June 29th. Now shows in MDE.

I’m just going to throw this out there. I think I’m pretty lenient when it comes to moderating but it’s getting to the point where I just can’t do that anymore.

Just because an article/video says Florida doesn’t mean it’s relevant to Disney. I completely understand there are different sides to this. I completely understand this is a stressful time for everyone. I myself have seen a large income decrease. I myself had to cancel my first Disneyland trip. I get it, I truly do. That doesn’t mean we can discuss politics here. That doesn’t mean we can attack other posters because they disagree with you. That doesn’t mean we can discuss all these different studies and statistical numbers regarding the virus. Those things do nothing good here and are irrelevant to the thread in most cases.

Many if not all people use Disney and Disney related content/sites like these boards as an escape. Yes this is very much reality but let’s just take a breath and pause to think before posting.

Exactly! You are no more likely to get the virus from Disney than you are from the grocery store or Walmart or wherever as long as you take personal responsibilty. Wash your hands frequently and keep your hands out of your eyes, mouth, and nose and you'll be fine.
Doubtful considering the types of ppl I see in my local Walmart. Let’s just say a lot of them clearly aren’t concerned with hygiene at all.

Since 6 flags announced that their parks will have a daily reservation system when they open, this might be the norm for all large theme parks to control capacity. We did it when we went to Discovery Cove.
I think with Disney being so big they will have to think about this idea.

I don’t see them doing it, but if they did, limiting to resort guests would effectively make it reservations only.

Its not a bad plan, but theyd risk a lot of outrage if a family staying on property had to get online at 6am to reserve park days and possibly miss out like with fast passes. Imagine paying thousands of dollars to stay on property and miss out on reservations for any in park days. I think the reservation system works for local AP holders. But at the same time, theyre also paying a lot monthly for their AP.

Theres something there with a reservation system, and they may very well have the perfect solution. But I wouldnt think Disney is going to copy Six Flags

Wouldn't work at WDW. Those places aren't a destination "bubble" like WDW is.

Six flags doesn't have more than 2 dozen on-site hotels with people who paid a premium to stay on property and will get extremely angry when they can't get a "reservation" to get into any park.

People with reservations in June already have fastpasses and ADRs. Where are they going to eat?

Sure it would. Make the FP the reservation for that park. If you don't want to book a FP then you can do a straight reservation. It isn't that hard.

What about people that have resort reservations but don’t plan on getting tickets until they know they’re definitely going to be able to go on the trip ? So they have to do a “straight reservation”, and what if they get nothing? Disney is going to tell you “too bad”? They’d have a lot of cancelled resort reservations, and in unsure times like we’re in with people afraid of traveling, and of course money issues, does Disney want to risk that people are going to flock to their hotels on short notice rather than have guaranteed money from current room reservations?

Choosing who gets in can be simple. Set the park capacity, then if needed, follow the current phases of closure.

There’s no need to get all complicated by reservations, limiting who gets in local vs out of state, AP vs general tickets or resort guests vs day guests. That just ticks people off.

Unless their capacity limit is crazy low, I don’t think they’re going to have a problem with too many people wanting to go, at least not at first.

I don’t either. People are 50/50 on going when they re-open, here on a Disney fan forum. Theres going to be a lot of people with reservations that decide its just not worth it. Even locals aren’t sure about going until things settle. Its Disney, so of course theres always a chance that capacity is filled and people are left outside the gate wanting to come in, but I think its going to be a while before you see them even reach 50% capacity which is technically a “busy” day

It may be different for Six Flags because their attendance vastly increases over the weekend. Disney’s attendance doesn’t do that, at least not Disney Word.

In our highly litigious society, I can't see disney reopening. People sue over the smallest things looking to get a payday. If the parks reopen and people get sick or die, Disney will need to have had solid precautions in place. I am looking to the Shanghai park to set the standard, and possibly Paris, before they reopen stateside.

And how would anyone prove they caught the virus at WDW? They couldn’t. They could have caught it flying, they could have caught it a day before at the local store, pumping gas on the way if they we’re driving, at work before the trip, from a relative or any number of other ways. I doubt Disney is worried about that. Entering a Disney park is certainly voluntary. If you are concerned about getting sick from being there, you don’t have to go. That’s the thing when you get to community spread & don’t do contact tracing.... you may never know how or where you were infected. Disney would have no trouble winning that lawsuit.

Six Flags is also a very different crowd. More rowdy and rambunctious. You see a lot of young tweens/teens getting dropped off by their parents and the park acting as the replacement babysitter for the day.
